An Yan performed the sealing jutsu. After drawing the flames from the ground into an unrolled scroll with his chakra, he saw the large character for "Seal" appear on it and breathed a sigh of relief.
In a nearby room, Tsunade was buried in a pile of books, studying intently.
Mito Uzumaki watched as An Yan completed another sealing jutsu and nodded in satisfaction. Then, she felt a little troubled about what to teach him next.
She had just given An Yan the scroll of sealing jutsu yesterday, and today he came back saying he had learned them all. Naturally, Mito didn't believe him.
But to her surprise, An Yan actually demonstrated all the sealing jutsu she had given him one by one. He even said there was a Five Elements Seal he had figured out on his own that he couldn't perform due to a lack of chakra.
I know you're a genius, but this is too fast! Are the complex characters of sealing jutsu really that easy to learn?
Mito had never seen such a genius. I'm going to see where your limits are!
Mito immediately ramped up the difficulty.
One Element Seal, Two Phenomena Seal, Three Powers Seal, Four Symbols Seal.
Each of the four seals was progressively more complex.
Sealing objects, sealing energy, sealing souls, sealing bodies.
An Yan was overwhelmed. Although the system allowed him to forcibly comprehend the knowledge, the amount of information in the advanced sealing jutsu was too great. He was bombarded with information and felt dizzy and nauseous.
Mito thought An Yan couldn't understand the advanced sealing jutsu she was teaching him.
However, when she questioned him about them, An Yan could still answer methodically.
Excited by her discovery, Mito decided to treat An Yan as her successor and teach him everything she knew. After all, the Uzumaki clan's sealing jutsu had already been integrated into the Senju clan, and Tobirama Senju had thoroughly studied them.
And since the Senju clan had integrated into Konoha, spreading its branches far and wide, it wouldn't hurt to pass the legacy on to one more person.
However, Mito did place a seal on An Yan to protect his memories, in case he died unexpectedly or was captured by the enemy, which would cause the techniques to be leaked. This was the price for learning the Uzumaki clan's sealing jutsu, and An Yan readily accepted it.
He had nothing to lose. A seal was just a seal. With his system, he wasn't worried about Mito trying anything funny. Besides, as a commoner ninja, he had nothing that others would covet. Mito wasn't Orochimaru; she wasn't interested in his body. So, it was best to secure the benefits first.
An Yan's biggest weakness right now was his chakra capacity. However, Mito taught him the S-rank forbidden jutsu—the Yin Seal. Once his body was more developed, he could begin practicing it and completely overcome this weakness.
This jutsu could store the large amount of chakra that the body consumed daily, to be used for endurance in battle. It could also maintain a youthful appearance. It was Mito Uzumaki's exclusive secret technique, but unfortunately, children couldn't practice it as it would affect their physical development.
And so, An Yan spent his days devouring useful books in the academy library and his afternoons learning sealing jutsu from Mito. He studied for sixteen hours a day, his schedule packed.
The sealing formulas themselves were easy to learn, but what An Yan was learning now was more about the framework, philosophy, and how to develop his own sealing jutsu.
He went from knowing the "how" but not the "why" to understanding the purpose of each symbol in the framework of a sealing formula.
This knowledge couldn't be recorded in books; it could only be passed down orally. It was the wisdom of the Uzumaki clan, accumulated over a thousand years.
While An Yan was working hard, Tsunade was also gritting her teeth and persevering. She had always been a competitive person. Seeing An Yan studying so diligently with her grandmother from morning till night, she felt a strong sense of crisis.
The person more talented than you is working harder than you. What are you waiting for? Start grinding!
Tsunade turned her pressure into motivation and began to study frantically.

He had completely mastered the Uzumaki clan's sealing jutsu and was even preparing to develop his own. After discussing it with Grandma Mito, he already had a general direction. The next step was slow research and careful experimentation.
The Uzumaki's Yin Seal stored a large amount of Yang Release chakra in the forehead, which is associated with the pineal gland, a concept related to the "Mud Pill Palace" or "Upper Dantian" in Taoist legends.
So, An Yan wondered if he could develop a Yang Seal to collect the spiritual energy that the body dissipated daily, nurturing the Upper Dantian to achieve a state similar to cultivating the "Yin Spirit" and producing the "Yang Spirit." The ultimate goal was to strengthen the soul.
The Yang Release chakra collected by the Yin Seal could be moved to the Lower Dantian. The two sealing jutsu would form a yin-yang cycle in the chakra pathway, without interfering with each other.
The ideal state for these two techniques was longevity. He wanted to see if he could live for a few hundred years, like a legendary immortal on earth.
Mito Uzumaki was very interested in this. She didn't have much to do in Konoha, so she threw her energy into researching the Yin-Yang Seals.
The Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, had been keeping an eye on An Yan. When he learned that he and Mito were researching such a sealing jutsu, he also became interested.
As a master of forbidden jutsu, Tobirama had always been interested in the soul and had developed many related techniques, such as the Reanimation Jutsu and the Soul Restraining Jutsu. So, when An Yan proposed nurturing the soul, Tobirama immediately provided a large amount of research material on the soul.
As Hokage, Tobirama even invited ninja from clans in the village that excelled in Yin Release secret techniques to brainstorm, including the Kato clan, the Yamanaka clan, and even the Uchiha clan.
Eventually, the Yin-Yang Seal began to take shape. When version 1.0 of the Yang Seal was created, Kagami Uchiha, who had volunteered to be a test subject, awakened his Mangekyo Sharingan.
