A series of harsh pounding on the door brought them to their senses.
"Sir!" A breathless voice called out through the thin door.
"We know you're in there!".
Noah's expression shifted into a frown within a second. He strode over to the door even while he looked stiff.
Pulling the door open, a tall figure came into view. A tall, slim dark man, with a striking handsomeness, with a glass perched carefully on his nose. Wearing a suit that almost hugged his frame, he looked scholarly who had a touch of mess to his polished demeanor.
'A nerd. But why are all the men here extra handsome'
'Huh' Standing beside the man was another figure. A shorter and more grounded young man, or boy.
His features were so fascinating as he looked like both an alpha and an omega. His face was blushed and his breathing came out short.
'Maybe his assistants'
"Sir, you just vanished, my goodness. I thought you were taken" The taller voice carried the strain of a professional whose composure was being kicked, while panicking internally.
Junior, who was still catching his breath, gestured widely at the cramped hotel room. "Do you have any idea how many places we've checked? Ethan almost had to make a report".
"Ah, my nose is going to stop working because of the amount of cleaner fumes i've inhaled today" He sagged against the doorframe with a hand on his chest.
Levi watched the two intruders, who didn't even notice or bother to acknowledge him, go on and on. He instead, watched in fascination at the exchange the two had, noting how the taller's irritation was with genuine concern, and the younger's complaints were with an undercurrent of real worry and panic.
"Enough" Noah, who had been observing the scene with patience, snapped at his two assistants.
He turned his gaze to Levi, and gestured with his hand to the men who just walked in.
"Levi, these are my assistants. Ethan and Junior".
Junior stiffened and almost fell off the doorframe, while Ethan simply adjusted his glasses.
Levi raised an eyebrow as he let his gaze deliberately travel over both of them.
"Hi"
"Good evening Sir" Ethan responded with a slight bow, while junior nodded in greeting.
"We're going to the hospital" Noah announced to bring back the attention of every one in the room.
"Dr. Elias?" Ethan's eyebrows rose slightly.
"Yes, he is the only one i still trust for this" Noah understood the unspoken words as his gaze shifted to Levi before returning to his assistant.
"Call ahead".
They all walked out the room and into the hallway.
"Can't believe we've been through the entire city in one day" Junior said, while apparently still catching his breath, and with a soft whimper. His shoulders sagging in a way that looked real compared to his earlier drama. He was clearly tired.
Ethan's expression softened as he reached out to steady the younger man with a gentle grab of the shoulders.
"Easy" Ethan murmured in a pacifying way "You did well today".
Junior's eyes flickered to Ethan's face that was up close, as if speaking without saying a thing, he straightened up slightly, drawing strength from their brief contact.
"I'm fine. Just… tired".
Levi found himself oddly charmed by their interaction.
There was tenderness threaded through their professional dynamic, small moments of care that spoke to a deeper relationship than mere colleagues. It was the kind of quiet intimacy that came from years of trust and shared experiences.
'So this is what normal looks like' he thought, watching Ethan's fingers linger for just a moment longer than necessary on junior's arm before dropping away.
Noah, meanwhile, had been observing the same scene, reminded them to get into the car.
Ethan had naturally assumed the driver's seat as he adjusted the side mirrors, while Junior confidently strode to the passenger seat, only to be redirected gently, but firmly towards the back by Noah's big palm.
"But Sir, my legs… " Junior began as he almost started whining.
"Back" Noah simply said as he slid into the passenger seat himself.
"You'll be just fine" Ethan's voice called "Get in".
Levi found himself in the back seat with Junior who'd immediately began fidgeting with the radio as he cycled through static filled stations with restless energy.
"Ugh. Why is every station so terrible at night?".
Ethan, whose patience was running out, snapped as he reached to twist the knob back in place.
"Stop"
"Tsk" Junior huffed, crossing his arms like a sulking child.
"Such a control freak".
Ethan must have heard but said nothing.
Levi leaned back, watching the sun leave the city.
He'd always wanted a life different from his past life. An ordinary life in some ways, as constant life threats were almost none existent. But a part of him knew that he was already used to the thrill that came with survival.
Now, what he wants, is something different. The idea of wealth and fame was surprisingly appealing. He could be openly recognised for who he is and not keep watching as people admired that name but not him.
