Chapter 53
"The number you are trying to call is—"
Sebastian ended the call with a hiss, cutting off the robotic voice before it could finish. Another failed attempt. This was his fifth try, and each one burned through his patience like acid.
"Pick your damn calls," he muttered, pacing from one end of the living room to the other. His voice carried irritation and something quieter—worry he refused to admit.
He paused by the archway leading into the vast dining room. The faint clatter of marble ceramics reached his ears, followed by the synchronized movements of servants and chefs all dressed in spotless white uniforms. They were setting down dishes on the long table, preparing for breakfast. The smell of butter and coffee floated through the air, warm and rich.
Still no sign of Kairen. Still no call back.
