Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Advancement and meeting Amon again

Two weeks passed peacefully. During that time, Lukas became quite famous since he had saved the lives of many people. Because of that, he also had plenty of opportunities to digest his potion. Today, he finally digested it fully. Using the quill, he managed to obtain the Sequence 8 Telepathist potion.

Currently, he was holding the quill, lost in thought. After a few seconds, he wrote:

Advancement to Sequence 8 will go smoothly.

After writing that, he went to his bedroom and took out the potion—a liquid that constantly shifted in luster and drank it.

A few seconds later, he opened his eyes and the first thing he saw were trees. He was lying on the grass. Standing up, he realized he was in a huge forest, and not far ahead was a path leading to what looked like a building.

After a minute of walking, he saw the building more clearly. It was definitely not from the world of the Mysteries. There was a sign that read: Closed since 1956. The structure looked extremely dilapidated. A blood trail led deeper into the forest, but his spirituality screamed at him that following it would be the same as courting death.

He opened the door and entered. Everything inside was in a horrible state—all the doors were destroyed except for one. But no matter how much he tried, he couldn't open it. After struggling a little longer, he gave up and walked into another room. The first thing he saw there was a skeleton.

But the strange thing was—the skeleton was small, the size of a child's body.

Realization struck Lukas. His eyes widened in shock. The next moment, he found himself back in his bedroom. His heart was pounding madly at what he had just seen, and his thoughts were in complete chaos.

After several minutes, he calmed himself and began observing the changes in his body.

The first change was that his vision had become sharper. His observation was no longer limited to normal things but extended to the Ether. He also gained a new ability—mind reading. He could now read the superficial thoughts of others.

Then, he began pondering what he had seen.

That's strange. I've never seen that building in my life, nor has it ever been mentioned in the novel. Could it somehow be related to the quill? For now, that's the only possibility. Judging by what I saw, the next time I advance, I'll probably end up there again. For now, I don't need to worry about it. The main question is—do I tell the quill about what I saw?

After a minute of thought, he got up and walked to the table where the quill rested. Words appeared in the air:

Congratulations on reaching Sequence 8. But what took you so long? Did you see something?

Lukas hesitated for a moment before answering, "No, I did not."

The words shifted:

You are lying. Tell me what you saw.

Lukas sighed. What an idiot I am, thinking I could lie to this quill. It's most likely above the Sequence. He then said,

"I saw a destroyed building that looked like it came from my old world. Inside, I found a skeleton that was most likely a child's. That's all."

The words changed again:

See? That wasn't so hard to say. Also, now that you've advanced, you can influence sequence 5 beyonders more and arrange things for them.

After talking with the quill for a few more minutes, Lukas decided to step outside for some fresh air.

While he was relaxing, he suddenly saw a kid running up to him. The boy had a crystal-clear monocle on his right eye. At the sight, Lukas broke into a cold sweat, his heart racing once again.

The kid stopped in front of him and said cheerfully,

"Hey mister, has anybody ever told you that you give off a weird aura?"

Lukas's mind spun. What's he talking about? What is he planning?

He forced a smile and replied, "Sorry, kid. I don't know what you're talking about."

A wide grin spread across the boy's face.

"Mister, I can show you, if you follow me."

Lukas instantly refused. "Sorry, can't do that. I have a lot of things to take care of."

Without waiting for a response, he hurried back to the house and shut the door in Amon's face. Then, he sat down on a chair and tried to relax. Slowly, without realizing it, he drifted into a deep sleep.
