"What's wrong? Feeling down?"
Looking at Jill, who seemed a bit gloomy, Li Qingyuan tilted his head and asked.
"Nothing!" Jill replied with a sense of loneliness, pulling out a cigarette and opening the car window halfway.
"Those women won't have a good outcome if they follow us. The repair shop's location is decent—if they don't wander off, their chances of survival are still pretty high."
Yesterday, the two of them had cleared all of KLKB, killing over a dozen scumbags and freeing more than twenty women locked inside.
Originally, there had been nearly a hundred people in that camp, but all the men who dared to resist were killed by the group occupying the repair shop. Even the women who were freed were mostly injured.
When the women saw Jill and Li Qingyuan preparing to leave, they cried and begged to go with them. Jill had been tempted at first but was immediately refused by him.
In a typical post-apocalyptic scenario, bringing a group of women along wouldn't matter much—after all, population is the primary basis of productivity.
But they were being hunted by Umbrella Corporation. Taking a group along would just be asking for trouble.
Besides, saving their lives was already enough. He wasn't a saint, and dragging a bunch of liabilities along was unnecessary.
Of course, there were a few other strange thoughts, but those didn't need to be voiced.
"I know. It's just… my mood is a little down." Jill took a deep drag of her cigarette before speaking.
"This world has turned into such a mess. It's not just the Umbrella Corporation—ordinary people are chaotic and evil too. Do you really think the world can be saved?"
"Trust me, the world will get better!" Li Qingyuan said, scanning the map in front of him, trying to locate Umbrella Corporation's base.
In his memory, Umbrella Corporation seemed to have a secret base near Las Vegas. Unfortunately, the map had no markings at all.
KLKB had originally been the scene at the beginning of Resident Evil 3 where Alice farmed monsters. But by the time Alice arrived, all the women in KLKB had already been killed—likely months later.
So now, he felt like a headless chicken trying to locate a hidden base or track a lone survivor across this vast land. The difficulty was almost like searching for a needle in the ocean.
Umbrella Corporation had spent years using global surveillance satellites just to find Alice. For him to locate her now was extremely difficult.
"What are you looking for?" Jill asked, noticing him intently studying the map.
"I want to see if there's anywhere nearby suitable as a secret base!" Though he didn't want to spoil things, after so many days, Li Qingyuan trusted Jill enough to share a bit of information.
"A secret base? What for?"
"Umbrella Corporation should have a secret base near Las Vegas. We're going to raid it."
"You're sure?" Jill instantly felt her fighting spirit surge.
The state of the world was all Umbrella Corporation's fault. And on top of that, they'd been hunting her for over a year. Jill Valentine now hated them with a burning intensity.
She had fantasized before about infiltrating Umbrella Corporation's headquarters alone and killing all the corrupt directors.
But back then, it was just a fantasy—escaping with her life under constant pursuit was already miraculous. Thinking about a counterattack? That was suicidal.
Now, with a man by her side, Jill felt confident she could strike Umbrella Corporation's secret base and turn it upside down.
"I don't know the exact location. Las Vegas is huge!" Li Qingyuan shrugged helplessly. The surrounding area was desert, almost uninhabited within five hundred kilometers. Finding a hidden underground base was incredibly difficult.
"Besides being near Las Vegas, are there any other clues?" Jill immediately started analyzing.
"It should be an underground base. Above ground, there's probably only a single isolated building, surrounded by a layer of barbed wire."
He recalled details from the movie, grateful that his enhanced memory made it possible to remember so much. Otherwise, recalling these details would have been very difficult.
"OK, then we'll start around Las Vegas and do a circular sweep. We will find it!"
"Dr. Isaacs, I have something to report!"
A pale-faced little girl suddenly appeared in the lab.
She was the first AI that newcomers to the Infinite Multiverse system usually received—White Queen.
Of course, White Queen was just a stripped-down version of the Red Queen, essentially a subsystem.
"What's the issue?" Dr. Isaacs was focused on his intelligent zombie project, which had made remarkable progress—zombies could now learn to count.
"This vehicle came from Salt Lake City. It's been making circular movements around Las Vegas for the past few days, clearly searching for something." White Queen drew the route on a holographic screen. The car had circled Las Vegas in a roughly 200-kilometer diameter, and based on the pattern, it would discover their hidden base within two days at most.
"You're saying someone is looking for us?" Dr. Isaacs leaned forward, intrigued. It was unbelievable that anyone would dare search for Umbrella Corporation's troubles directly.
Even Alice, the perfect T-virus host, had spent the past year fleeing in fear. Who was in that RV, bold enough to risk their life like this?
"Based on intelligence analysis, there's a 97% chance they're searching for us. Comparing the system database, the woman in the passenger seat has a 72% chance of being Jill Valentine!" White Queen zoomed in on the RV image using satellite data.
These days, Jill had always been in the passenger seat using binoculars to scout suitable locations. It was inevitable that she was captured by satellite when she opened the car window.
"Interesting!" Dr. Isaacs smirked. He had sent out a special ops team, but they hadn't found any trace of Jill, wandering around near Gaplow. And yet here she was, right at his doorstep.
"Should we send the special ops team to capture her?" White Queen asked.
"No need. If she wants to come, let her. This is a perfect chance to test the base's defense system!" Though he didn't value the special ops team much, they were still company property. If the enemy was coming voluntarily, why waste manpower?
