Kyle's emotions were out of control, past memories hit him massively like a volcano. He was troubled and angry. He stared back again at the girl, which made his heart wrench, but what met his sight was an empty counter with only a waiter at the desk. A low, menacing growl erupted from Kyle's wolf, and he fought hard to keep his emotions at bay. Kyle dashed towards the second exit and opened it in hopes of finding the black-haired girl, but only a view of cars, buses, and hurrying passengers was left. The scent was gone like it was never there, but Kyle's senses were still flooded with the scent of petals and dark cherries. Axel stood behind him, already understanding the situation, and knew he had to tread carefully.
"Alpha Kyle, Lucas Simone has arrived; a bad impression on your first meeting won't be beneficial to you or the growth of the pack." Axel knew the mention was the only thing that could make Kyle get back to his senses.
Kyle walked back to the restaurant, his emotions now in check and his demeanor back to that of a strong and proud Alpha. He went towards Alpha Lucas's table and sat opposite him. The Alpha of the second strongest pack, the Silver Fang pack, Bloodclaw being the first.
"I expected your father to be here. Why would he send his son for an important meeting like this?" Alpha Lucas said, not bothering with greetings.
"Be careful how you speak, Alpha Lucas. The contract proposal is of more use to you than to me." Kyle replied, a layer of threat beneath his veiled words.
"Your pack also needs it as much as Silver Fang does, so don't entertain the idea we are dependent on you."
"Beta Axel, kindly refresh the Alpha Lucas's memory about what the contract entails."
"Alpha Kyle, Alpha Lucas this deal is a form of alliance between our packs. In which Bloodclaw pack has the largest mining site to mine iron ore, which will be given to the blacksmiths to forge swords and spears in exchange for hides and skin, which are limited in Bloodclaw pack. This alliance will greatly benefit both packs, but it is no hidden secret that Silver Fang pack needs the swords and spears more than Bloodclaw pack, which can easily substitute for hides and skin."
Kyle gracefully signed the contract and pushed it towards Alpha Lucas. Alpha Lucas signed the paper, his face grim and unforgiving. After the whole formal procedure, Kyle and Lucas exit the burger shop and get into the car.
"She's human, Axel. The next time I meet her, I will reject her. I can't go through another heartbreak." Kyle said his demeanor changed from the proud and strong Alpha to a heartbroken man.
"Kyle, why not give this one a chance?"
"And risk my heart being broken again?"
"What if she can mend your broken heart? What if she's different?"
"And if she's not? I suffer again, Axel; it's a lost cause."
Kyle laid his head on the headrest in an attempt to get his emotions together as the car drove slowly away.
