Kenichi: [I'm gonna go and get mom. Sit tight guys.]
Kyotaro stepped outside into the yard with Subaru.
Kyotaro: [Hey this spirit girl. Did you adopt her or somethin' Subaru?]
Beatrice: [Betty is not a child, in fact.]
Kyotaro: [Okay. Okay. Sorry. Sorry.]
Subaru: [She's more like a little sister.]
Kyotaro: [Ya know. When I first heard about her I was worried you'd turned out like me.]
Emilia: (Subaru would never.)
Subaru: [Huh?! No way! The number 1 and 2 spots in my heart are taken and there isn't room for anyone else.]
Emilia smiled at this.
Beatrice: [Betty's Subaru is far too loyal to Emilia and that maid to do that, I suppose.]
Kyotaro: [Loyalty but to two girls?]
Subaru sweat dropped.
Subaru: (It doesn't sound very loyal by nature does it?)
Kyotaro: [It's a good thing Kenichi raised you.]
Subaru smiled.
Emilia: [I think Subaru's parents did a great job.]
Subaru: [Yeah. They're the best parents I could ever ask for.]
Kyotaro looked to Natsumi who was in Beatrice's arms.
Kyotaro: [Yer little sis is adorable but since yer parents were so distraught from you going missing, I'd occasionally have to take care of her. I'd always have to keep an eye on er or she'd wander off. Ya can't let her outta yer sight or she'll come back riding a dragon, haha!"]
Subaru laughed a little at this.
Emilia: [Natsumi-chan really is like that.]
Subaru: [Yeah. Just this morning she was crawling around the house.]
Kyotaro: [Yer her big brother so ya ought to help make sure she grows up well.]
Subaru: [Yeah. I know.]
Kyotaro drank some tea as he looked to the sky.
Kyotaro: [I was really worried about you, you know.]
Subaru: [Gramps...]
Kyotaro: [I wasn't askin' god ta bring you back ta us though. Just askin' him to watch over ya.]
Emilia and Beatrice winced from knowing what he went through.
Subaru: [I... sorry but yer prayers reached someone that isn't very um... holy.]
Subaru felt something clench his heart for a second.
Subaru: (Ugh. Jeez calm down. It was a joke.)
He could just imagine Satella pouting and since she looked like Emilia he found the thought just as cute.
Kyotaro: [You okay?]
Subaru: [Yeah. I'm fine.]
Subaru: [Honestly the person looking out for me is... well I can't say she's a good person but... she really does care about me.]
Kyotaro: [A woman huh. You really are my grandson.]
Subaru sighed.
Subaru: (That again huh?)
Emilia pouted.
Subaru: [Mili! I'm grateful to her but you and Rem are the only ones for me. I promise!]
Emilia: (If only you could say "only me".)
Emilia: [Well I forgive you then]
Kyotaro smirked.
Kyotaro: [So when can I expect some great grandkids?]
Subaru choked on the air when he heard this as Emilia went red.
Subaru: [Gramps!]
Emilia: [Eh?]
Kyotaro: [I can tell you want a kid. You've got that look about you.]
Emilia: [Well um... I do but...]
Subaru: [We're not ready for that step.]
Subaru cut in quickly.
Emilia: (Subaru...)
Kyotaro: [No one is ready to have kids. No matter how much you prepare it ain't gonna help with most of the stuff. I saw that first hand with your parents. Ya just gotta trust yerself. When you do that's when it's time. That's how it was for your dad and mum.]
Subaru considered this carefully.
Subaru: [Thanks for the advice. I really don't trust myself yet though. Maybe when the business is stable.]
Emilia: [Subaru...]
They heard a knock on the door as two sets of footsteps entered the house.
???: [Naoko sweetie. Where are you and Subaru?]
Subaru: (It's Grandma. Mom's still not back from shopping? Well she did say that she'd be a while.)
???: [We came to visit.]
Kyotaro saw them enter and practically hissed as he walked over to the fence attempting to climb it. Subaru tried to pull him down.
Subaru: [Just go out the front door like a normal person!]
Emilia and Beatrice sweat dropped.
Emilia: (He's just like Subaru.)
Beatrice: (Both fools, in fact.)
The two people arrived in the yard to see Subaru.
???: [Subaru!]
???: [Subaru!]
Then they saw Kyotaro.
???: [You!]
???: [Kyotaro.]
Kyotaro: [Kaori... Benjamin.]
Ben: [It seems you've decided to show your face for once.]
Kyotaro: [Yeah. I show up every now and then in the little moments. Unlike you two.]
Kaori: [Well at least we're respectable people unlike you.]
Kyotaro: [Ah yes. So much to respect. 0 attention for your daughter without her achieving something. 0 visits paid while Subaru was missing. 0 times looking after Natsumi while Kenichi and Naoko were looking for Subaru.]
Ben: [Ah yes. Completely forgetting how much money we spent hiring people to find Subaru.]
Kyotaro: [You don't even know anything about Subaru! How the hell would you have even known where he might have ended up! You couldn't tell the detectives jack shit to help them find him!]
Emilia and Beatrice could be seen silently slipping away as Subaru mouthed to them "Save yourselves."
Ben: [It was the most effective way!]
Kyotaro: [Yeah and something you did completely on your own without even talking to us. We coulda helped ya.]
Kaori: [Ah yes. I'm sure the skills of a womanising hoe like you would be of help.]
Kyotaro: [More than you!]
Kyotaro, Ben and Kaori had tick marks on their heads as it seemed inevitable that someone would die very soon.
Subaru: [Hey guys please calm down.]
Kaori: [Oh Subaru. We were so worried about you.]
Kaori hugged Subaru tightly.
Subaru: [You didn't visit or call for 7 months.]
Kaori: [Well we thought you needed some time to settle back in properly. Me and your grandfather can be a bit overbearing so we left things alone.]
Subaru: [For seven months?]
Ben: [You see. Your aunt had surgery overseas and we were there while she was recovering.]
Subaru: [Auntie Naomi?!!]
Ben: [She's fine now. Don't worry. Back to her job too,]
Subaru smiled.
Subaru: [So she finally recovered?]
Kaori: [Yes. She's doing well now.]
Subaru: [But why didn't you call.]
Kaori: [Because we saw your business and your grandfather is a back-seat driver when it comes to these things. We didn't want to interfere because we wanted your business to be able to stand on its own two feet.]
Subaru: [Oh.]
Subaru: (Grandma Kaori and Grampa Ben are kind of complicated people. People misunderstand them because of that. They're pretty extreme when it comes to being successful but when you get down to it and tear off the layers they really do love me and mom. Dad though... I think they just tolerate him. Grandpa Ben was always the overprotective type.)
Ben: [Let's call a truce for today Kyotaro.]
Kyotaro: [Yeah sure.]
That's when the door swung open again.
???: [Subaru!]
Kenichi: [I'm back. Brought your grandma Subaru.]
Kaori looked to her.
Kaori: [Riko! It's good to see you.]
Riko: [No offence Kaori but I wanna see my grandbaby.]
Riko walked past her hugging Subaru as she started kissing him on the head.
Subaru: [Hey wait! Grandma!]
Riko: [You have no idea how much I missed you.]
Riko then saw Kyotaro.
Kyotaro: [Hey Riko. Still as sexy as ever.]
Riko proceeded to slap him in the cheek.
Riko: [Don't even think about it. You womaniser.]
Kyotaro: [You said the same thing when we first met.]
Riko blushed.
Riko: [You're such a child. Even at this age.]
Kyotaro: [Hey you slept with me. If I'm a child that makes you a pedophile.]
Riko looked like she was fuming. Kyotaro leaned in.
Kyotaro: [So do you like them young, Riko-san?]
He smirked at her. She was so angry her face went as red as a tomato. A tomato that was about to kill the man in front of her.
Kenichi pinched his forehead.
Kenichi: (Why do you have to be like this?)
Ben: [Hello Kenichi.]
Kenichi: [Um... hello father.]
Ben: [I told you never to call me that.]
Kenichi scratched the back of his head at the awkwardness. That's when Naoko arrived.
Naoko: [Ah Mama. Papa. You're here?]
Kaori: [Naoko!]
Ben: [Sweetie!]
They hugged Naoko as Ben looked over her.
Ben: [Has he been taking care of you?]
Naoko: [You don't have to ask that every time you visit Papa. Kenichi is my husband of 20 years.]
Kenichi: (With the way he treats me people would assume me and Naoko were newly weds.)
Kenichi sighed.

Kenichi and Subaru were sitting next to each other as Kenichi smiled.
Kenichi: [Hey Subaru. I think it's time.]
Subaru: [Time for what?]

Kenichi got up and opened the fridge taking out a can of beer.
Kenichi: [This is some of the light stuff so you should be fine.]
Subaru nodded as he took the beer opening it.
Subaru: (I'm actually having a drink with dad...)
Kenichi: [Cheers.]
Subaru: [Um... cheers.]
They clinked their cans and took a drink. They drank together for a while. Kenichi got up taking another beer with him.
Kenichi: [I'm gonna go talk to your grandma okay? It's light so you can have a second one if you want.]
Subaru: [Alright.]
Kenichi left.

After an hour Kenichi noticed something.
Kenichi: (Huh? This stuff is supposed to be light.)
He checked his beer can more closely.

Kenichi: [Shit dad brought this. It's got the same colour as the light stuff. Then Subaru is... oh no... not good.]
Kenichi turned around rushing to find Subaru but he was gone.
Kenichi: (Shit. This is very bad.)
Kenichi started running around the house when he heard noises, including moaning from Subaru's room. He opened the door to find Subaru and Emilia entangled under the sheets, both drunk. He closed the door.
Kenichi: [Put on some clothes you two! Enough of that.]
Kenichi: (Naoko is going to kill me.)
Kenichi groaned as he saw Riko slowly backing away.
Kenichi: [Mother! Why did you give Emilia beer?!!!]
Riko: [How was I supposed to know the girl was a lightweight?!!]
Kenichi sighed
Kenichi: [This entire day is such a mess.]

Subaru and Emilia woke up the next day with splitting headaches as they sat up and noticed that they were naked.
Subaru: [Huh?]
Emilia: [Eh?]

Subaru: [It looks like it Mili.]
Then a splitting headache hit Emilia again.
Emilia: [Ugh... I don't like Alcohol anymore...]
Subaru laughed before his own headache came back.
Subaru: [Me neither. Let's just get dressed.]
Emilia nodded.
Subaru: (There's no way we had the sense of mind to pull out or use protection so... what if she's pregnant.. we're not ready for this.)
Subaru was sweating a lot.

Subaru sat across from his parents. Well parent. Kenichi was right next to him.
Naoko: [How could you let this happen Kenichi!]
Kenichi: [Dear, it was a mistake. I messed up okay? It's not Subaru's fault.]
Naoko: [I know. Why are you sitting there Subaru? Come here.]
Subaru: (I'm... off the hook?)
Subaru got up as Kenichi dreaded what would come next. Naoko began shouting at Kenichi in anger as Kenichi looked to Subaru using their father-son telepathy to say "Go on. Get out of here while you can. But Subaru... If your mother divorces me please visit me every once in a while."
Subaru grimaced as he left.

Two weeks passed and Beatrice noticed something.
Subaru: [You okay Beako?]
Beatrice: [Hm...]
Beatrice walked over to Emilia and felt her stomach.
Beatrice: [There's a new source of mana here, I suppose.]
Subaru: [...]
Emilia: [...]
Beatrice: [Betty isn't sure if it's one or more yet but there's definitely life growing inside Emilia, in fact.]
Subaru laughed before his face turned serious.
Subaru: [Wait... Beako you're not joking?]
Subaru was practically shitting himself.
Subaru: (We're... going to be parents.)
Emilia: [We're... going to be parents?]
Emilia blushed as her face lit up and she hugged Subaru lifting him up.
Subaru: [Hey! Wait Mili!]
Emilia: [I'm so happy Subaru!]
Kenichi and Naoko stood behind them.
Kenichi: [I'm... going to be a grandpa?]
Naoko: [I'm... going to be a grandma?]
Miraculously all of Naoko's apprehension at the thought melted away, replaced by excitement at the prospect of Grandbabies as both father and son sweat dropped.
