"Indigo Tournament, Top 16 Showdown! The rules are 6v6, full team battle. Both Trainers can switch their Pokémon in and out at will, and once one side's Pokémon are all out of commission, the other wins. Clear?" In Stadium One, after the commentator's opening hype, the referees stepped between the competitors, flags raised, and laid out the rules.
"Understood!" *2
Silas and Teppei both nodded, each pulling out a Poké Ball.
Seeing both were ready to rumble, the referees quickly withdrew to the sidelines.
Once they stepped out, Teppei called to Silas, "Alright, kid! Show me if you're really ready to carry the flag for Kanto! Snorlax, let's go!"
'Snorlax!'
Boom!
A Snorlax—over four meters tall—slammed onto the field, the ground shaking from its landing. Built like an absolute beast, this Snorlax's thick, solid frame drew gasps from all around the stadium. Normal Snorlax are usually 2.1 to 2.5 meters and around 460-500kg, but Teppei's Snorlax looked nearly twice the size—practically a living mountain of muscle!
As the crowd gaped, Silas tossed out his own Master Ball.
And then—in an even more shocking twist—a Tyranitar even taller and bulkier than Snorlax stepped out! Even crazier, this Tyranitar's whole body was covered in sparkling diamonds that blazed under the sun, casting waves of dazzling light.
"Wha—" The commentator choked, his voice stuttering, "Now that's a heavyweight matchup! First Teppei's giant Snorlax, now Silas brings out an enormous Tyranitar! Both are far bigger and heavier than their species usually are—their strength must be terrifying! What kind of clash are we about to witness?!"
As the commentator went on, Tyranitar and Snorlax eyed one another before their fighting spirit exploded.
For Tyranitar, that excitement didn't come from Snorlax itself, but from finally getting his moment. He'd waited for so long to take the stage—now, he was more than ready!
Snorlax, on the other hand, was fired up by Tyranitar's power. At Champion rank, there are only two paths to further growth: either slowly evolve your elemental mastery over time, or battle other top Trainers nonstop, gaining experience through real combat. Any Pokémon who makes it to Champion clearly loves to fight. Facing off with someone like Tyranitar, Snorlax's blood was pounding.
"Snorlax!" Teppei shouted, voice booming with pride and bravado. "Use Mega Punch!"
'Snorlax!'
Boom, boom, BOOM—
Snorlax roared, charging at Tyranitar. Each step made the stadium quake, and his massive right fist glowed with brilliant white energy—he barreled straight in for a knockout punch!
"Tyranitar!"
Against a top Trainer like Teppei, Silas didn't dare get careless. "Send Snorlax flying!"
'Tyranitar!'
BOOM!
Usually stoic, Tyranitar's eyes now glowed savage red. A thunderous roar tore from his throat as he lunged forward—his stomp rocked the entire stadium like a literal earthquake!
Just as Snorlax got close, dazzling energy burst from Tyranitar's own fist, blazing with destructive power. As Snorlax's Mega Punch swung in, Tyranitar answered with a punch of his own!
Crunch!
Meat met meat in a collision of pure force!
Fist against fist. Strength versus strength. Even elemental force clashed in that instant!
But—the clash ended as quickly as it began.
Snorlax might have been close to Tyranitar in size, but in terms of elemental mastery? Not even a contest.
In an instant, Tyranitar's fist burst right through Snorlax's defense, landing a pulverizing blow to Snorlax's soft belly!
'Snorlax!!!'
BOOM!
That blow ripped a strangled scream from Snorlax. His massive form was sent flying through the air, hurtling out of bounds—and when he finally landed, the crash created a massive crater near the stands, nearly hitting the first row!
"An…Instant KO!" The commentator barely managed, voice shaking with shock. "Silas's Tyranitar took down Snorlax with a single shot! What insane power is that?!"
Monster!
Teppei gawked at Tyranitar, wide-eyed. He'd half-expected Silas to throw Tyranitar in here (since, after rotating through his other monsters, only Tyranitar hadn't yet appeared), but he'd never imagined its strength would be this overwhelming. To launch a nearly 2,000-pound Snorlax clean off the field? Pure insanity.
As everyone reeled, a stadium announcement played: "Attention please, due to the intense nature of this match, front row spectators are advised to move to the rear for safety. We apologize for any inconvenience caused!"
The announcement repeated three times. Normally, the crowd might complain, but after watching Snorlax crater right in front of them? Yeah, they scrambled to the back without protest. They wanted to see awesome battles—not risk getting squashed for it!
Stadium One.
Where there'd been a roaring crowd, now the place was dead quiet. Everyone stared at the battlefield, not wanting to miss a single moment. After recalling Snorlax, Teppei gave Silas a deep look. "You're strong! But I'm not conceding!"
"Then let's keep going," Silas replied simply.
"Gladly!" Teppei nodded, pulling out his next Poké Ball. "My second Pokémon—Machamp!"
'Machamp!'
A flash of white light—and a humanoid Pokémon with four massive arms, Machamp, appeared instantly!
More gasps went through the stands. Like Snorlax, this Machamp dwarfed the standard size, easily over three meters tall—like a mini-giant! He only came up to Tyranitar's chest, but even so, he wasn't the least bit intimidated—his eyes blazed with anticipation.
Amid the crowd's shock, Silas just shook his head.
This Machamp was a Champion-tier Pokémon, no doubt. But Fighting-types were the weakest class among all Champions. If Teppei had invested that much time training something of another type? He might actually have laid claim to the Kanto Champion title by now!
"Machamp!" While Silas was lost in thought, Teppei already gave the command: "Close the gap, Bullet Punch!"
'Machamp!'
Machamp leapt forward at a speed that belied his size—he crossed the whole distance in a heartbeat, four fists pistoning faster than the eye could follow, slamming punch after punch at Tyranitar's chest. The barrage was so quick, his arms blurred to afterimages. Even Tyranitar could barely register the speed!
No surprise. A normal Machamp can throw a thousand punches in two seconds, about 500 punches per second. This one, at Champion-tier? Who knew how many strikes he could land!
Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam!
The relentless pummeling echoed through the arena. Even Tyranitar, famed for his defense, winced from the pain.
Silas's calm voice cut in: "Tank it with elemental power!"
'Tyranitar!'
Tyranitar roared, his chest flooding with a brownish glow as he called on elemental strength.
"Jump! Cross Chop—double strike!" Seeing the elemental shield go up, Teppei immediately switched tactics.
'Machamp!'
Machamp leapt into the air, all four hands forming two pairs of chopping blades, ready to smash down on Tyranitar's face from above!
The moment Machamp went airborne, Silas saw his window—Pokémon (except Flying and Psychic-types) couldn't dodge freely in the air, no matter how strong. "Hyper Beam!"
'Tyranitar!'
Tyranitar's massive jaws opened wide—a violet beam shot out like a cannon, aimed straight for Machamp!
"Protect!"
Teppei's command came lightning quick!
Mid-air, Machamp instantly switched from attack to defense, a pale blue aura shimmering around him. The Hyper Beam crashed into it, blocked Machamp from harm, but the force of it sent Machamp flying backward anyway!
Thud!
Machamp hit the turf hard. Teppei looked at Tyranitar with a headache—overwhelming defense and attack, this thing was a nightmare!
As Teppei fretted, Silas gave another order. "Stone Spikes!"
'Tyranitar!'
A furious roar.
All across the field, jagged stone spears burst from underground, homing in on Machamp!
Stone Spikes: This move was inspired by Earth-style ninjutsu from Naruto—Tyranitar called on elemental power to turn underground rocks into countless stone spears, launching them at his foe.
"Dodge!"
Seeing the ground suddenly erupt in spikes, Teppei's face changed color.
'Machamp!'
A quick tumble got Machamp clear of the first wave—but as he started to breathe, more spikes shot up right under him. On and on, the stone lances kept coming, pinning Machamp toward the arena's edge!
"What is this move?!" The commentator's shocked voice rang out, "Under the mystery of Tyranitar's attack, the battlefield is now crammed with stone spikes! Teppei's Machamp is cornered—is he about to get forced out?!"
"Not a chance!" Teppei shouted back, "Cross Chop—break through!"
"Hyper Beam!"
As Teppei gave his orders, Silas's came just behind.
Machamp had nowhere left to go; dodging Hyper Beam was impossible. Even if Teppei tried to order Protect again, the blast would almost certainly blow Machamp out of bounds all the same.
Teppei saw it coming, too—his face was set. "Machamp, jump!"
Hearing this, Silas immediately changed it up: "Hyper Beam—rapid fire!"
Hyper Beam—rapid fire?
Teppei's heart skipped a beat—he already knew what was coming!
As his face changed, beam after beam of black Hyper Beam fired from Tyranitar's jaws, tracking Machamp as he launched into the air…
'Machamp~'
Boom! Boom! BOOM!
Explosion after explosion rocked Stadium One, each matched by Machamp's cries of pain!
When the dust cleared, Machamp had been blasted all the way to the now-vacated front row of the stands—his battered state left even hardened viewers shaken. If those seats hadn't been empty, who knew what might have happened!
"Come back!" As the crowd caught its breath, Teppei returned Machamp, then tossed out his third Poké Ball. "Go—Slaking!"
'Slaking!'
A three-meter-tall ape-like Pokémon burst onto the field, beating his chest with berserk energy!
Silas couldn't help but flinch at the sight.
Slaking is the single highest-stat species in the entire Pokémon world—if not for its laziness Ability, a team of Slaking could wipe out legends. But the one in front of him… didn't show a trace of sloth!
"Silas!" This time Teppei didn't order an attack. Instead, he said seriously, "Slaking is my strongest Pokémon. If you can beat him, I'll admit defeat right here."
Heh… Silas's mouth twitched, and he turned to Tyranitar. "Think you can take him?"
"Nope," Tyranitar replied quietly. "This Slaking's only high-level Champion, but I can sense real danger from him. If we're going to win, I'll have to use 'that move.'"
That move?!
Silas's eyes widened, then he shook his head. "Hold off—that one comes with a cost. Only use it if nothing else works."
"Got it," Tyranitar nodded.
While they conferred, Teppei launched his attack: "Slaking—Close Combat!"
'Slaking!'
Despite his vaguely human look, Slaking thundered across the field on all fours at a crazy speed. In under five seconds, he was already right in Tyranitar's face!
Heart pounding, Silas shouted, "Dodge! Rasengan!"
'Tyranitar!'
Tyranitar slipped to the side, dodged Slaking's attack, then conjured a brown Rasengan in his right palm—not as wild as Charizard's or as oppressive as Dragonite's, but simple and steady. Tyranitar drove the Rasengan straight for Slaking!
"Mega Punch!"
Even not knowing what Rasengan was, Teppei wasn't about to take chances. He countered with power!
Rasengan vs. Mega Punch!
Signature moves from two worlds collided—this was a duel at the very top!
Tyranitar tried to drive the Rasengan into Slaking's chest, Slaking attempted to land a Mega Punch on Tyranitar—their attacks collided mid-air, locked in a tense deadlock!
"Slaking!"
"Tyranitar!"
Silas and Teppei watched, nerves on edge—this move wouldn't decide the match, but whoever pulled ahead now would control the rhythm from here on out!
'Tyranitar!'
'Slaking!'
Both roared, pouring more and more elemental power into their attacks!
BOOM!
The energy finally detonated!
Mega Punch and Rasengan exploded violently, black smoke swallowing the field. When the haze cleared, both fighters stood with minor injuries—nothing serious—but the hunger for battle in their eyes was burning even brighter.
"Tyranitar, Hyper Beam!"
"Dodge it! Giga Impact, now!"
A purple-black Hyper Beam erupted from Tyranitar's mouth, racing for Slaking. At the last instant, Slaking launched himself skyward, dodging the blast completely!
BOOM!
Hyper Beam crashed into the arena wall, setting off a not-insignificant explosion and making the crowd shrink back in fear. Now—Slaking counterattacked!
From the sky, he adjusted his angle, diving headlong at Tyranitar. A streak of white light enveloped him—he looked like a falling meteor, terrifying and unstoppable!
Dodge? No way!
Silas sized up the timing—there was no chance.
And with nowhere left to run, all that was left was to fight fire with fire. "Tyranitar! Hyper Beam!"
'Tyranitar!'
With a roar, Tyranitar blasted another jet-black Hyper Beam!
Hyper Beam vs. Giga Impact!
Normally, Tyranitar would have this in the bag.
But this wasn't a normal opponent—Slaking's raw strength was off the charts, even above some Legendary Pokémon. So, as Giga Impact collided with Hyper Beam, Slaking actually overwhelmed the attack, smashing straight down as the crowd (and even Tyranitar himself) looked on in disbelief!
BOOM!
'Tyranitar!'
Slaking crashed into the ground like a meteor, setting off a massive explosion. Amid the chaos, Tyranitar's agonized cry pierced the air—a sound Silas had never heard before. He didn't hesitate.
"Tyranitar, Mega Evolve—now!"
