The plane hummed softly as we flew to New York, the city lights twinkling far below. I sat beside Lorenzo, my nerves buzzing with excitement and a hint of fear.
This was my first big business trip, and that felt like tempting fate. Our deal was already hard to keep at home... Now, trapped together for two days, it felt like a test I wasn't sure I'd pass.
Lorenzo glanced at me, his eyes catching the dim cabin light. "Nervous?" he asked.
I shifted, my foot brushing his under the blanket we shared. "A little. First time in New York for work, what if I mess up?"
"You won't because you're sharper than half the team. Just stay by my side and follow my lead."
"Thanks, Ren. I'll try." I smiled, warmth spreading through me.
His hand found mine under the blanket, his thumb grazing my skin, sending shivers up my arm.
"Good girl," he murmured, and my breath hitched.
