Lin Chen waved his hand. "Isn't it raining? This Daoist summons the rain for you."
The Widow Sister nearly poured a bucket of water over his head. "Boss! If you don't stop pretending, will you die?!"
"Fortune-telling is enough—I still want to summon rain. You're making fun of me!" Lin Chen said, smiling at the cloudless sky.
She stomped toward the garden on the left side of the police villa, grumbling, "I'm going to die. What am I supposed to do with such a big garden and fruit trees?!"
Catwoman arrived in a floral short skirt, the latest electronic shackle fastened to her left foot.
Lin Chen grinned. "Electronic shackles as jewelry—very elegant."
Catwoman winked. "Of course! I look good even if I wear a sheet."
Lin Chen eyed her mischievously. "In ancient times, criminals like you were servants. Now, you must serve me well."
Catwoman leaned forward, pouting, "Okay, sir!" Then she suddenly lunged—a flurry of punches, her strength clearly improved.
Lin Chen dodged, wrapped his arms around her waist, and steadied her. "Why do you want to murder your husband first thing in the morning?!"
"You hit me first!" she protested, struggling in her thin floral skirt. Lin Chen had no choice but to release her.
Unbothered, Catwoman strutted away while Lin Chen, amused, walked toward the garden.
"What do you want to do? I'm not going into the woods with you!" Catwoman called cautiously.
"Who are you doubting? I'm a gentleman. Natalie said the garden was thirsty, so I summoned some rain."
Widow Sister and Catwoman exchanged skeptical glances but followed him anyway.
Lin Chen tested the Roar's wind-and-rain spell.
"Thunder!" he shouted.
The sky rumbled. Dark clouds rolled in, and the wind whipped around them.
Sister Widow and Catwoman gawked as the mid-mountain sky darkened.
"Was it really the stinky Taoist?!"
"What a monster!"
"It's raining!" Lin Chen yelled. Bean-sized raindrops began to fall, wetting the garden and leaving their clothes clinging to their bodies.
"It's still low-level cultivation," Lin Chen sighed.
Widow Sister and Catwoman ran toward him, soaked. "Stinky Taoist priest, are you shameless? On purpose?!"
Lin Chen nodded. "It's fine. Natalie needed rain, didn't she? And a boss's employee can't complain about a little shower."
Their wet hair clung to their clothes and skin—a picturesque scene of beauty in the rain.
"Your makeup is ruined," Lin Chen teased.
"I wasn't wearing any!" Catwoman snapped.
"Me neither!" Widow Sister chimed in, offended.
Lin Chen shook his head. "All the better, delicate ladies."
The two chased him in mock battle.
Soon, the rain stopped, leaving the trees and flowers refreshed—a few days' work saved for Natasha Romanoff.
After changing, they had breakfast with Jill and Harley.
"Boss, do you really need an automatic sprinkler for such a large garden? And a gardener? I'm only getting three rough dollars a month, and Zheng's about to die!" Widow Sister complained.
Lin Chen agreed internally. His villa's sprawling gardens needed proper care; the wild growth wasn't good. Fruit trees would serve as spiritual energy sources for the team.
The doorbell rang. Lin Chen checked his phone. "Could it be her?"
Catwoman smirked. "Poison Ivy? You and her…?"
Jill turned pale, waving her hand. "I'm full, I'm going to work!"
Widow Sister, drinking porridge while recording, muttered, "Stinky Taoist priest suspected of having an affair with Poison Ivy!"
Harley frowned.
Lin Chen waved dismissively. "I told you, nothing going on here."
No one believed him. He drove a golf cart with the three to the gate.
Outside stood Poison Ivy—red-haired, unusually modest in a white shirt and cropped pants, looking shy.
She whispered, "Master, may I come in?"
Lin Chen opened the door, scanning her. "Ivy… just graduated from Women's Morality College, or are you becoming a nun?"
"I have nowhere to go," she said tenderly. "I'd like to ask you to take me in…"
Lin Chen paused. "You live in nature… and now have nowhere to go?"
Poison Ivy broke into tears, clutching his arm. "Daoist… I was treated as an experimental subject, injected with plant toxins. I can control plants, but I never fought for anything. I lived on an island in peace. But the island was weaponized, the plants died, and I barely survived…"
"The world is so big, but there's no place for me. I just want revenge… I was originally a good girl…"
Her tears dripped onto Lin Chen's shoulders. He patted her back. "Alright, alright. Stop crying at my gate. The police will think you're my mistress."
Catwoman muttered, "Isn't she?!"
Widow Sister quietly took notes on Ivy's past, thinking she might be absorbed into S.H.I.E.L.D.
Harley sniffled. "Ivy… she's yours now!"
Ivy smiled, but then cried again. "Daoist, you can't accept me. I'm still a criminal!"
Lin Chen smacked her on the wing veins. "Fine. Police uniform it is. You'll be our gardener—flowers and fruit trees need care. Are you up for it?"
Her eyes sparkled. "Master, I'm willing!"
Lin Chen brought her to the garden. "Show me your abilities—then I'll give you a probation period."
Ivy's true form emerged. She touched the soil, and the struggling flowers thrived, growing lush and healthy.
"Excellent," Lin Chen nodded. "Six hardships USD per month, including food and housing."
Before Ivy could react, Widow Sister erupted. "What? I only get three rough dollars! I demand a raise!"
