Lin Chen and the three girls had enjoyed a hearty meal, and after letting it settle, they returned to the pool. No one wanted to get fat under Lin Chen's watchful eye. He gazed at the mermaids swimming gracefully around him and sighed contentedly. "Life is like this… what more could I ask for?"
His moment of peace was interrupted by Jill's call, her voice bubbling with excitement. "Master! The Joker tried to hijack the prison transport but was caught by Gordon! He's being taken to the makeshift Major Crimes Unit cell!"
Lin Chen's eyes widened. "Wait—caught? How did that happen?"
"I was there. Batman and Gordon managed to corner him together. Gordon really earned his stripes this time—he might even become the director of the General Bureau," Jill explained.
Lin Chen nodded. "Alright, tell Harley to stay home and ride the bike to Jimen. We might need her."
Sister Widow rolled her eyes. "Harley, the boss will go see Jill. Let's come along and see what's happening."
Harley hesitated. "I don't know if that's a good idea…"
Catwoman rolled her eyes. "Stupid, you can't just let him go check alone!"
The three drove toward the Southern District Police Station in a nanny car. Less than twenty minutes later, Lin Chen arrived. Jill waited obediently at the door.
"The Joker's locked up. Gordon and Batman are upstairs," she informed him.
"Then let's go up," Lin Chen said, taking her hand.
On the fourth floor, Gordon watched Batman interrogate the Joker through the glass.
"Daoist, what brings you here?" Gordon asked, surprised.
Lin Chen shook his head. "Gordon, this clown isn't easy to deal with. You've been tricked."
"Tricked? Impossible—we tried everything. How did he know I was alive?"
Lin Chen frowned. "Do you think you can still reach Dent and Ruiboot?"
Gordon quickly tried, but the calls wouldn't connect. Realization dawned on him. "Could they be in trouble?"
"Exactly," Lin Chen said. He showed Gordon the addresses of Rui Boots and Dent via water mirror imagery. "Send someone immediately. They'll explode if you delay."
Gordon hurried to act. Meanwhile, Batman continued beating the Joker.
"Where are the Boots? Where's Dent?" Batman demanded.
Joker laughed, mocking him. "Batman, you let five people die for you, and poor Luther took the blame! I didn't kill anyone yet, but if I did…"
Lin Chen pushed open the door. "Brother, as I said, this clown is very interested in you."
Batman shuddered at the sight of the Joker. "The difference between people is massive… between girls who like me and girls who like the Taoist priest."
The Joker grinned. "I'll destroy you, Dark Knight! You'll fall with me!"
He continued, "With companions like this, it'd be great if the Taoist priest joined in. Soon, Rui Boots will be airborne!"
Batman's focus snapped back. He grabbed the Joker by the collar.
"Where are Dent and Ray?!"
Joker smiled, "Break your one rule today, and maybe I'll tell you…"
He raised his hands, and for a moment, it seemed he might vanish.
Lin Chen patted Batman on the shoulder. "It's pointless to beat him. Let me handle finding the others."
Joker protested. "You ruin all my fun!"
Lin Chen raised an eyebrow. "By the way… have you done any good deeds lately?"
Joker paused. "Uh… I gave you Dr. Harley?"
Lin Chen kicked him lightly. "Poor bastard. Don't even touch Harley's hand!"
Batman restrained Lin Chen. "Daoist, calm down."
Lin Chen turned serious. "He tied Rachel somewhere with gasoline and explosives—she could be blown up at any second!"
Batman's anger flared again, but Lin Chen reassured him, "Don't worry—they've been saved."
Gordon nodded. "Dent and Rachel are safe."
Lin Chen then looked at the prisoners. One brawny man, lying on the ground, shouted in pain.
"Gordon, lock him up with the Joker," Lin Chen instructed.
Gordon frowned. "Master, he's a subordinate of the Joker—a small fry."
Lin Chen smiled. "Even small fry matters. Joker, do you want to make a call?"
The Joker's eyes lit up, but Lin Chen ignored him, confident that he controlled the situation.
