Lin Chen smiled faintly. "Shuiyou, there's a can of Hamlet in your eyes—your choice to make."
Xiao Chen looked completely puzzled. "Daoist, please show me a clear path."
Lin Chen had already activated his Human Relationship Technique. His tone grew calm and deliberate. "Xiao Chen, I have seen your destiny. In the end, you chose Xiao Shanshan."
Xiao Chen nodded slightly. In truth, he had thought the same. Shanshan was the one he'd chosen after college—though her temper was terrible.
Lin Chen continued, "But the two of you divorced in the end."
"Divorced?" Xiao Chen's eyes widened in disbelief. He hadn't expected his fate to be so rough. "Daoist, why?"
"The reason is simple," Lin Chen said. "Shanshan looks down on you. Her temper is bad, your personalities clash—you quarrel every day. Eventually, she runs back to one of her old high school classmates."
Xiao Chen sighed deeply. "Honestly, I can't say I didn't see that coming. That's just her personality…"
"What about Lily?" he asked again.
Lin Chen chuckled. "Even if you and Xiaoli end up together, things won't last. Before long, you'll find out she actually has a son with another man."
Xiao Chen winced, his expression twisting. "Daoist… it seems my taste in women is terrible. That only leaves A Fang, my junior high classmate. But that doesn't seem ideal either."
Lin Chen shook his head. "You did marry Shanshan and later divorced. Most of the demolition compensation went with her. And in the end—you still ended up with A Fang."
"I'm with A Fang?"
"Yes. And you're very happy. You have a big, healthy son together. A family of four, living in harmony."
Xiao Chen's shoulders relaxed. "So that's how it is… after so many detours, I finally learn to ask myself what I truly want. Thank you, Daoist."
In truth, Xiao Chen had always liked A Fang. But bound by family expectations and social prejudice, he could never bring himself to marry a divorced woman with a child. Now, after hearing this, he began to wonder if following his heart might not be the best path after all.
Lin Chen waved his hand with a faint smile. "These are the things one must think through. Ask yourself—what do you truly want?"
After expressing his thanks, Xiao Chen logged off. Whatever path he would take next—would still depend on him.
The livestream chat instantly burst into laughter:
"Hahaha, so the Daoist priest is running a matchmaking service now?"
"If I were paired with Xiaoli, I'd only want to learn her techniques."
"+1 for the 'learning techniques' crowd!"
"Sometimes, getting married just means signing up to be miserable!"
"It's great to be as happy as the Daoist priest!"
As Lin Chen walked down the street, something suddenly pressed under his foot.
"Huh? What's this?" He bent down. "A diamond ring?!"
Just as he looked up, a hundred-dollar bill drifted into his hand, caught by the wind.
The chat went wild:
"Whaaat?! Master, what kind of luck is that?!"
"Steps on a diamond ring and catches dollars with his hands—this man's luck stat is broken!"
Lin Chen took out a Lucky Charm from his sleeve pocket and smiled. "Fellow Shuiyou, the heavens are envious. This is a new charm I've been learning lately."
"Master! I want a dozen of those charms!"
"I'll paste one every day so I can pick up money at my doorstep!"
"Careful, you'll end up like a hopping zombie!"
"Master, I need lucky charms! Peach blossom charms! Amulets!"
Lin Chen laughed. "Everyone, if what I find isn't lost property, I'll donate it to the orphanage."
Harley leaned close and teased, "Master, did you also pick up that girl?"
Lin Chen rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Depends on how pretty she is."
"Waaaah! I lost all my lollipop money!"
"Brat, get lost!"
A child's cry came from nearby. Lin Chen turned toward the sound—a chubby little boy squatted in the corner, sobbing.
Nearby, two young Latino men were playing a three-cup guessing game.
They used three cups to hide an object—shuffling them rapidly, then asking which cup it was under.
Harley's sympathy flared. "Hey, little buddy, what happened?"
The boy sniffled. "Those two bad guys cheated me out of ten dollars with their game."
Lin Chen frowned, his tone dark. "You two—cheating a child out of money?"
The two men glanced at Harley Quinn beside Lin Chen, then sneered, "If you're not playing, move along."
One of them grinned. "Why's a pretty lady hanging around this Asian guy? You can play with us, sweetheart—maybe even both of us."
Lin Chen's expression turned cold.
The livestream chat exploded:
"Master, these guys deserve a beating!"
"Daoist, use your magic! Make them lose their pants!"
"Cheating a child's money?! Even my grandma's getting mad!"
"The police are nervous, the Daoist is angry—these two are done for."
"When the Daoist gets mad, the corpses pile up!" – Wonder Woman
"Daoist mode: ON." – Super Killer
Lin Chen smiled faintly. "My friends, let's have a little fun. I'll use the hundred dollars I just picked up to play against them."
He flicked the bill between his fingers. "Let's begin."
The two Latinos exchanged a look—this one seemed like an easy mark.
A small crowd gathered, eager to watch or place bets of their own.
One of the Latinos—tall and thin—placed a die beneath a cup and began to shuffle them rapidly.
The cups moved faster and faster until even the onlookers couldn't follow.
Lin Chen turned and chatted with Harley mid-game. "Harley, what color do you think we should use for our curtains?"
Harley clutched his face, panicked. "Master, focus! I'm getting dizzy just watching!"
But Lin Chen didn't care. His Heavenly Eyes could easily see through the trick. Still, he decided not to use them. Today, he'd rely purely on his Lucky Charm.
"Alright!" the Latino man barked. "Place your bets!"
Several people bet on the cup on the left.
Harley whispered, "Master, it's probably the left one."
Lin Chen grinned. "Impossible. The dealer never loses. I'll bet on the middle."
The Latino man's face twitched. "The die's gone left!"
But when he lifted the cups—the die sat neatly in the middle.
"Wow! Daoist, you're amazing!" Harley clapped in delight.
The livestream erupted again:
"Master, what level of luck is this?!"
"He didn't even look and still won!"
"I've been bamboozled by the Daoist's cool act again!"
"Let's all get lucky!"
Lin Chen collected his two hundred dollars calmly.
The Latino dealer began again, his movements faster, trickier.
Lin Chen casually pointed to one side. "Harley, there's a pretty lady over there. She just smiled at me."
Harley didn't even look. "Master, concentrate! Money's not important—but losing face is!"
"It's fine," Lin Chen replied lazily. "For me, this is simple."
The Latino finished shuffling and glared. "Alright, Asian boy—place your bet!"
Without even glancing, Lin Chen slapped down another two hundred dollars in the middle. "Don't waste my time."
The man's face darkened. He lifted the cup—and froze.
The die was there.
He paid Lin Chen another two hundred dollars, expression stiff.
"Get lost, kid! Come back if you dare!"
Lin Chen smirked. "Leave? What for? Let's keep going."
Then he won two more rounds in a row.
By now, the two men had lost a full basket of dollars—everything they'd earned.
Worse still, the onlookers began following Lin Chen's bets, causing the two scammers to hemorrhage even more money.
Finally, the pair exchanged a panicked look. This man was terrifying. They turned, ready to pack up and flee.
But Lin Chen's smile widened.
"Going somewhere? I haven't had my fun yet."
