Chapter 159 - Chapter 161: Where’s the Magical Basilisk?

No clue if the lottery has a guaranteed prize mechanism, but in the end, it delivered a huge surprise.

Dudley was pretty thrilled.

Talk about "silent until it strikes, then it shocks the world."

The Cosmic Phantom Beast Fist comes from the tokusatsu series Ultraman, a signature move of Master Arudi from the D60 Draco Star. Later, it was mastered by Absolute Diavolo, a member of the Ultimate Clan.

Yup, that's the guy who's pals with Absolute Tartarus, the self-proclaimed ultimate lifeform.

The Cosmic Phantom Beast Fist is hailed as the top fighting technique in the Ultra universe, and the Mighty Bull-Crushing Fist is its most powerful move, packing an insane punch.

Sure, Diavolo's little golden bull didn't exactly shine in battle, but that just shows he wasn't up to par. With Dudley's current skill level, tapping into the kind of terrifying power from the show is a pipe dream for now—especially since Dudley can't transform.

Still, it's a solid hidden ace up his sleeve.

At the very least, it's on the level of a Level 5 Iron Mountain Lean.

After snagging such a powerful trump card, Dudley tossed a bag of feed to both Charizard and his little pony, then headed toward Hogwarts Castle.

He was back at the castle in no time. The first thing Dudley did was release the Acromantulas he'd brought from the Forbidden Forest.

With a flash of white light, the Acromantulas appeared in the corridor. As food for the Basilisk, they were hyper-sensitive to its presence. The moment they materialized in the castle, where the Basilisk's scent lingered, they froze on the spot.

Their eight legs curled tightly together, huddling into a trembling spider ball, refusing to budge.

Pure fear of their natural predator.

"Move, or I'll squash you. Pick one," Dudley said coolly, his hand brushing lightly over their heads. His indifferent tone sent a shiver through the unfortunate Acromantulas.

This guy was like their predator too.

No, worse than a predator. A regular predator might eat a few of their kind and leave once full. This human had killed countless Acromantulas.

Reluctantly, they unfurled their bodies. If they had a choice, they'd rather die than set foot in this castle.

Dudley tied a rope to each Acromantula and started his search for the Basilisk.

Naturally, the Acromantulas weren't thrilled about helping. Who in their right mind would want to track down a Basilisk?

But Dudley had a plan. The more the Acromantulas resisted going somewhere, the more he dragged them in that direction.

Reverse radar.

With their limited brainpower, the Acromantulas had no idea how Dudley was zeroing in on the right spot.

Dragging them along, Dudley made his way to the second-floor girls' bathroom.

"Does this mean the Basilisk's back?" he muttered.

He found the copper faucet with the snake carving, hissed a few words in Parseltongue, and watched as the snake's head split and spun rapidly, revealing a secret passage.

Dudley slipped inside with ease. This clearly wasn't his first rodeo in the Chamber of Secrets. While he wasn't a Parselmouth, he was a beast-tongue extraordinaire. As long as there were magical serpents in the world, he could speak their language.

The passage, untouched for over a thousand years, was damp and slippery, covered in moss and strange fungi. Dudley plucked a few mushrooms as he descended.

Soon, he reached the end of the tunnel.

Stepping through, Dudley landed steadily on the ground.

This was deeper than even the Slytherin common room, and the area ahead was pitch black.

Even with Dudley's keen eyesight, no light meant no visibility.

With a casual flick of his finger, a beam of light shot from his fingertip, illuminating the path ahead.

Dudley had mastered the Lumos spell to an art form. If he went all out, even a certain bloodsucking fiend would be in for a rough time.

Compared to the "bountiful" tunnel, this area only hosted a few shade-loving plants.

In one relatively open spot, there was a massive shed Basilisk skin, still fresh enough to suggest it was recently left behind.

Never one to waste, Dudley pocketed it.

That skin was top-tier stuff. A thousand-year-old Basilisk's hide was incredibly tough, resistant to some curses, and—most importantly—a fantastic potion ingredient.

At the tunnel's end stood a stone wall, adorned with two intertwined stone snakes.

Dudley hissed another phrase in Parseltongue, and the wall slowly parted.

The space beyond was far larger than the tunnel, with slightly better lighting. At least Dudley could see the path ahead without needing Lumos.

The Acromantulas, however, refused to move another inch.

Looks like the Basilisk was close. A red light flashed, and Dudley recalled the Acromantulas into their Poké Balls.

This place was like a grand plaza, lined with towering stone pillars carved with coiling serpents. They stretched up to support a ceiling lost in shadowy darkness, casting long, eerie shadows across the room, which shimmered with a greenish, mystical haze.

It had serious haunted house vibes.

Anyone stepping into this place would probably think, "Yup, this is definitely a villain's secret lair."

The vast space amplified every sound, creating booming echoes from even the slightest noise.

At the far end loomed a statue.

It had a monkey-like, wizened face, a scraggly long beard, and tiny eyes that looked wildly out of proportion. To put it bluntly, it was downright creepy.

Dudley wasn't sure if this was Slytherin's questionable taste or just plain bad aesthetics.

Either way, it was ugly.

As he surveyed the surroundings, Dudley's hand drifted to another Poké Ball at his waist. Inside were a bunch of roosters he'd grabbed from Hagrid's hut on the way. Hagrid had mentioned his roosters kept mysteriously disappearing.

Legend had it that roosters were the Basilisk's natural enemy. Their crow could harm or even kill it.

But Dudley wasn't so sure about that.

Roosters were just ordinary creatures.

Given how much Slytherin hyped up the Basilisk—calling it the Serpent King—it seemed unlikely that such a powerful beast could be taken down by a regular rooster's crow.

Plus, Basilisks were born from a rooster's egg, incubated by a toad. That gave them a connection to roosters, so it didn't add up that they'd be that afraid. In Dudley's mind, the "rooster" that was the Basilisk's enemy might've been some magical creature from a thousand years ago, also called a "rooster."

Still, better safe than sorry.

Using his Data Magic Eye, Dudley scanned the area but found no trace of the Basilisk—or that Audrey girl.

Of course, it was possible they were using some trick to evade his scan. The Acromantulas were still terrified, after all.

So where was the Basilisk?

Just then, behind Dudley, a few bubbles slowly rose to the surface of the water.
