The wizard slipped his finger between her lips and of its own accord, her tongue flicked against the tip. His eyes went dark, he inhaled sharply.
Yanking away his hand, he stepped back. "Perhaps…yes, I'll wait here until you get inside the Palace."
"I didn't mean—" She covered her mouth. Oh, heavens! Her whole body trembled.
Sensation skittered, and heat rushed to her core. She realized then that she was attracted to True. She had feelings now and again for suitors, but not this kind of yearning. It was an ache in her heart, her soul.
"Hey, wizard!"
Alissa and True turned. Sard and Rek hurried toward them, followed by several other guardsmen.
"Bet you can't fight all of us," yelled Rek.
