Chapter 27 - Impulsive And Hot-headed

Leah bent down, her eyes pinned on the bright flowers planted on the land. There were hibiscus, peonies, and camellias. Her gaze followed the beautiful butterfly sitting on the peony.

Extending her hand, Leah was about to catch it when the little creature fluttered its wings, flying away. Disappointment crossed through her eyes.

"Is that his wife? What's wrong with her? I heard she is a fool. You don't think she will go crazy on us or something?"

Hearing that voice distracted her attention from the flowers. Her eyes sharpened for split of a second before they held her usual silliness in them.

She found two middle-aged woman standing before her. They were dressed ostentatiously in designers from head to toe, showing off their status.

Ridicule was written in their eyes when they looked at Leah from top to bottom, examining her appearance. A sneer appeared on their lips.

"Who are you two?" Leah asked, slight fear embedded in her voice. "I will call the police for trespassing."

Alison Liu stepped forward. The woman was married to Leo's uncle. After passing through the neighborhood today, she decided to give Leo's new wife a visit along with her Leo's aunt, Marissa Zhen.

After Leo married an unsightly country bumpkin, they thought he would be creating a fuss over it and waited for the drama to play out.

However, it seemed that Leo was too calm and quiet.

Since she brought Leo up, there was no one who could be more familiar with how the boy was than her. She knew how that Leo was impulsive and hot-headed, any acts of disrespect triggering him.

However, from all the reports she received, it seemed both of them were leading a peace and loving life like a normal couple.

"How insolent! You don't even bother to learn who your in-laws. You're a village hillbilly at the end of the day!" commented Alison, disgust crossing through her face.

Marissa said, "Although your embarrassing status isn't worthy of our Zhen Family, now that have married into the family, you should learn some manners. Don't you think you should have known who is your family?"

Leah calmly stared at them and, acting clueless, pointed out, "But my in-laws are dead."

Although Leo hadn't opened up to her on what happened, from the news she has seen, the Zhen Family disowned him.

Since they decided to cut ties with him, what were these women here to show off for?

Alison scoffed. "A lowly, dirty illegitimate child at the end of the day. Your mother was slut, who went around seducing men. Say, did she teach you how to control men? Is his why Leo is so tame now?"

Leah took no offense to their words and smiled innocently.

"I apologize. I should have paid attention to learning your identities. Both of you are..."

Alison rolled her eyes.

"I am Leo's second uncle's wife, Alison, and this is his aunt, Marissa. We basically brought Leo up. Better mind that attitude around us, or else it wouldn't do you any good," Alison's voice held threatening intent in it.

"It isn't proper for us elders to visit you," Marissa coldly said, "and since you're married to my nephew now, although your status is disdainful, we can only lower our head and teach you. Visit our place often."

As if she was put into a difficult position, Leah hesitantly voiced out, "But..."

"What? Are you going to disobey us now?" Marissa's eyes narrowed down.

Her cowardly and timid attitude was instantly shown when Leah shook her head fervently.

"I will make sure to visit often," Leah responded. "Since you made sure to come all the way over here, I can't just let you leave. Why don't you come over for a tea? There are pastries from Estelle as well. I will serve those."

"Well, at least you know what to do," Alison stated, finding pleasure in Leo's wife being respectful to them.

No matter how arrogantly Leo promised to bring them down, wasn't his wife being subservient to them at last?

With that, Marissa and Alison followed her inside. After serving them fancy pastries, Leah went over to boil some tea for them, coming out after a couple minutes.

"We only had chamomile at home," Leah spoke out, "I hope this suits your fancy."

After that, she bent down to pour them the tea from the teapot in the intricate and pretty cups.

Alison was the first one to pick up the cup, swirling it lightly before taking a sip out of it. Then, raising her head, she commented, "You're good at pleasing people. Keep it up. This will benefit you. After all, it's not like you have anything else valuable to offer."

Leah's eyes then fell on Marissa. The woman too took a sip of the tea and appeared content.

As they went on to impart valuable knowledge to Leah, Leah obediently listened. Her eyes stared at them with deep seriousness as if the matters they talked about was of grave importance.

"You must be thirsty, Aunt Alison," Leah said, "Let me pour your another cup."

Alison nodded her head arrogantly.

It brought her great satisfaction when she saw Leah lower her head, picking up the teapot from the table to pour her.

However, before she could, Leah's leg crashed against the glass table, and she stumbled. The next instant, the hot tea fell all over Alison.

The burning sensation caused a sharp shriek to escape from Alison's mouth. Her eyes fell on Leah, glaring at her, while her entire body was on pain.

"You fucking bitch! What have you done!? I am going to kill you!"

Only then did Marissa's petrified voice followed.

"Are those cockroaches?"
