Chapter 52 - The Confused Spider

"You definitely pissed Kingpin off by returning Bullseye's body."

Eddie clicked his tongue, watching Anton leave Fisk Corp and come over. He couldn't help but say, "From now on, The Daily Bugle isn't dealing with small-time stuff anymore. Kingpin's not like Drake; he rose to power through violence. To force out Batman, he might just bloodbath The Daily Bugle, judging by his nature."

"Do you think we're afraid of things getting big?" Anton countered.

Eddie chuckled at that.

That was true. He was on the side of justice, and with Venom protecting him, he wasn't afraid at all.

Venom inside him was even unusually excited, constantly cheering.

Because in this situation, every stranger he met could potentially become its dessert.

His only concern was the safety of the employees at The Daily Bugle.

"Don't worry, I've already told everyone to take a two-day break. As long as he's not stupid, he won't touch those innocent employees. Otherwise, those disgusting politicians would have already stripped him of his position as the Kingpin of the underworld."

Anton saw what Eddie meant and smiled, "What we should be worried about now is that Kingpin won't fight us face-to-face."

"Are you sure you can get evidence of Kingpin's crimes this time?" Eddie asked.

"Our goal isn't to fight, but to find out what's in Kingpin's armory," Anton said. "His armory must have illegal items. If we catch this lead, we might be able to catch an even bigger fish."

Following the thread, they could catch the bigger fish: Stark Industries, and turn New York upside down.

Completely solving this matter would also earn them more justice points.

For Anton, it was a win-win situation.

"I never thought I'd be a hero."

Eddie sighed.

Ever since he teamed up with Anton to take down Carlton Drake and gained Venom, his whole world and life had been turned upside down.

"It's an amazing feeling. You'll get addicted to it."

Anton replied, a smile spreading across his face.

Ring, ring!

Suddenly, his phone rang. The caller was Winston.

"Anton, my informant just gave me some intel. Kingpin is starting to gather people and has deployed a lot of heavy weaponry. He seems to be planning something; you need to be careful."

Winston warned directly.

"Understood. Get your people ready. We'll meet in Hell's Kitchen this evening. We're going to strike first."

Anton smiled.

"What?"

Winston was taken aback. This wasn't what he'd expected. "Are we going to take him head-on? We don't have the advantage."

"Don't worry, I have a plan. I won't throw you guys away."

Anton hung up the phone.

Hell's Kitchen.

A slightly thin young man, wearing a red, comical mask and a long-sleeved hoodie with a spider pattern, walked nervously into an underground boxing gym.

"Hey, kid, you here to box?"

The registration clerk at the entrance of the gym was a burly man with a large beard. He slapped the young man's shoulder and sneered, "What name you gonna use? I think 'Chicken' suits you."

"Spider. Call me Spider."

The young man hesitated for a moment before filling in his name on the registration form.

"Alright, go on in."

The burly man shrugged and shoved the thin young man forward into the corridor.

"Your opponent is Jumbo, our gym's undefeated champion. Hope you don't come out missing an arm or a leg."

The burly man gave him a look of malicious glee.

He'd seen it all before in Hell's Kitchen: young guys trying to make a quick buck in the ring. Sadly, it rarely ended well for them. The worst case he'd seen, a guy got killed right there, and nobody even bothered to claim the body afterward.

The young man entered the underground fight club and found it nothing like he'd imagined.

It was a place for illegal fights.

"Hey!"

The young man panicked: "I'm here for a regular match, not an underground fight."

"Kid, you're already here."

A scantily-clad woman next to him looked at him with disdain: "You scared?"

"Scared?"

The young man's blood surged: "How could I be scared!"

"Then get on the stage quickly, your opponent is already waiting for you."

"Jumbo will tear you to shreds."

When the young man walked onto the stage, the iron cage above his head suddenly dropped, kicking up a cloud of dust.

It was at this moment that the young man truly realized that this scene was not just different from what he had imagined, it was a world apart.

Cage fight!

A deadly contest!

Meanwhile,

Dark currents surged within Hell's Kitchen.

Most gangs received the notification: contribute manpower, contribute effort, and all responded to the call of the Kingpin, the underworld emperor.

They were preparing to unleash a bloodbath in New York tonight.

The targets included The Daily Bugle, the Continental Hotel next door, and the local hero in Hell's Kitchen, Daredevil.

Hell's Kitchen was only eight streets anyway, so they would turn it upside down to find and eliminate Daredevil.

The Daily Bugle and the Continental Hotel were both in Manhattan, making them easier to deal with.

To be honest, the Kingpin's rage made all the gangs excited because they knew that their emperor had bared the fangs he had hidden for a long time.

Dealing with The Daily Bugle was to lure out Batman, who was behind it.

Dealing with the Continental Hotel was because the Kingpin had investigated afterward and found that the assassins who rescued Ben Urich belonged to the Continental Hotel.

Daredevil, needless to say, was an old foe!

When the personnel gathered, everyone held weapons, and it was clear they were all villains.

Guns, baseball bats, machetes, and so on.

A group of people looked fierce, waiting for the Kingpin to return.

Finally, Kingpin stepped into the light, making his grand entrance.

He was still wearing a white suit, holding a cane in his hand, and a cigar in his mouth, his expression solemn.

"Tonight, I will tell everyone in New York that Kingpin has never left the underworld! This is still my territory."

Kingpin's tone was low.

"Go."

"Go take out our opponents, and let everyone know that my underworld empire, Kingpin's empire, is not something that can be casually dealt with."

As his words fell, a huge cheer erupted.

"Kingpin!"

"Kingpin!"

"…"

Surrounded by the cheers of his underlings, Kingpin spread his arms, the smile on his face becoming more and more unbridled, as if he had regained the feeling of his former glory.

Boom!

Suddenly, from a high-rise building across the way, a bat-like shadow was cast, silhouetted beside Kingpin.

"Batman!"

Kingpin was startled, then looked at the figure on the high-rise building and laughed heartily: "You didn't wait for me to find you, and you came to your death."

"Death?"

"Today should be your doom, Kingpin!"

Batman's tone was calm, but his words, through the amplifier inside the armor, resounded in everyone's ears.

"Then let's wait and see."

Kingpin's face turned cold, staring at Batman above, and waved his hand: "Go, take him down."

Boom!!

As the words fell, Batman, perched atop a skyscraper, shifted the cannon on his shoulder. A massive shell, trailing a fiery tail, plummeted like a meteor.

Anton was currently wearing the Rabbit Armor.

In a situation involving firearms, basic armor didn't offer a significant advantage. Naturally, he had to deploy the Rabbit Armor, which was akin to a miniature mech.

Besides, when facing a crowd, he preferred to go with whatever was most convenient.

"RPG!"

Someone screamed, eyes bloodshot: "Get out of the way!!"

Whether they moved or not was irrelevant, because the target of the shell wasn't them. It was Kingpin, standing on the high platform.

BOOM!!

Kingpin didn't flinch, his expression unchanged. He raised his cane, aimed at the shell, and fired a single bullet.

The shell exploded mid-air, a dazzling display like fireworks, unleashing a shockwave.

At the same time.

Having just finished a boxing match, clutching his prize money, the excited and apprehensive Spider turned down the fight club owner's offer for a permanent position and walked out of the underground arena.

BOOM!! A massive explosion echoed not far off.

Spider felt the wind on his face, and it seemed he could smell gunpowder in the air.

Then, looking up at the fireworks, he immediately sensed something was wrong.

Spider-Sense activated.

He was dumbfounded, but quickly stashed his prize money and became alert.
