Lyra's body trembled as the two Alphas stared at her with unreadable expressions. Her heart pounded frantically as she remembered lying using Alpha Kade's name. She had never thought the Alphas would come in person. She clutched her fingers tightly together.
"What is she doing here?" Alpha Knox asked without taking his eyes off Lyra.
One of the guards stepped forward and bowed low. "She said she was sent by Alpha Kade to visit the offender."
"Really?" Kalem asked, his voice smooth and deceptively mild, his eyes piercing Lyra with a clear question. "Tell me, little Thorne, have you come to get a look at the one who nearly killed you?"
"She said she wanted to show kindness," one of the guards added with a chuckle, but quickly pressed his lips together and straightened when both Alphas glared at him.
"Kindness," Kalem repeated slowly, rolling the word on his tongue as if it tasted strange. "And who made you the goddess of kindness now, little Thorne, huh?"
