Rhyana was born into captivity, she never knew her parents because as soon as her egg was laid it was promptly sold away to a distant buyer. When she did eventually hatch it was not to the lush wilderness and loving attention of her parents but to the cold uncaring gaze of a human who looked upon her with scorn.
Her early weeks of life revealed a number of unsettling facts to the young dragon. Firstly she was not alone in her captivity, no she was just one of many dragons that were being raised in what she had learn the humans called the Training Grounds.
Secondly she learnt that she was unique amongst most of her kin, where she was inquisitive and eager to explore and play, this was not the case with most others. No most of the dragons she was being raised with were quiet, docile and dumb. She also learnt the reason for this by overhearing some of the humans speaking, turns out that she came from a rare 'breeder' that liked to keep his dragons 'spirited'. Which to Rhyanashe understood as the stupid hadn't been bred out of her line just yet.
She learnt quickly that her actions of simple exploration and trying to play were not looked upon favourably and she was beaten and punished every time she strayed from the 'expected path' of remaining compliant. Seeing her kin act so submissive to these humans was a cause of rage for the young dragon but she was not stupid and learnt quickly to put up an act of being exactly what they wanted her to be.
She stopped exploring and playing and instead fell in line. But she never stopped paying attention, she never stopped learning and she never stopped planning.
The last key point that she learnt about was what the humans believed would happen to her and the rest of her kin. They were to be sold to the king to become mounts for his dragon riders. The idea of letting one of these humans ride her was detestable to the young dragon who had known nothing but cruelty and scorn at their hand.
Now that's not to say that she was completely alone in her suffering, no for her and her kin were not the only ones in captivity by the humans. Several other humanoids were seemingly enslaved by the 'masters' who ran this cursed farm. Be they beastkin dwarves, elves or even other humans. These slaves were given the menial tasks which were viewed as being beneith the humans.
One such task was caring for the dragons, be that feeding them or cleaning out the filth that accumulated within their cages. One such beastkin had become somewhat of a friend to Rhyana, she was a dogkin of some kind but had lived her entire life under the chain. Rhyana had not learnt this woman's name but she was the only one who ever showed the young dragon any kindness in her short life. And she began to trust her, ever so slowly.
Time passed and Rhyana slowly advanced in levels, despite not having caught anything dragons would naturally advance in level until they reached level 40 over the course of a couple of years and reached maturity. Through her levels she was forced into advancing her physical stats through the 'training' that the humans would put her through but she still tried to focus on her mind, aware that it would only by being smart would she ever hope to escape her bondage.
Her first evolution granted her a rare evolution and a rare speciality, she learnt to control lightning, whilst she would never show her captors her true capabilities she showed enough capability to be 'fast tracked' what this meant for her was that she was thrust into a pit and had to battle other beasts for both her own survival and sustenance. The dogkin slave was her only source of comfort during this period of time as she would be sent down into the pit to care for Rhyana after particular rough battles.
Months passed this way and Rhyana was never permitted to leave her pit, she was forced to battle for survival every couple of days and she slowly grew stronger. Once she hit her level 40 evolution she knew that things would soon change. For she was now large enough that she could be sold. She knew that this could mean she was sepersted from her. Something that neither of them wished and so they had to plan.
Rhyana had learnt the telepathy skill thanks to her desire to speak to the only kind creature she had met in her life and thanks to that she finally learnt her name. Susan helped teach Rhyana more about her current circumstances and they managed to plot how they could possibly escape. However, it was not meant to be and their hopes were dashed when suddenly Rhyana was dragged out of the pit she had been living in for most of her life.
She was bound and subdued by several strong humans that managed to easily overpower her, much to Rhyana's annoyance. From there she was brought out into the open air and she was able to see the sun for the first time.
The light was blinding but the open sky and glowing sun made the young dragon only crave for the freedom to fly in the skys all the stronger.
Susan was also brought forward and ordered to clean Rhyana up so that she would be in a presentable state before she was transported to the capital. But that is when Rhyana felt something, it was like nothing she had ever felt before and it felt… wild, untamed, powerful and free. Her head snapped to the West where she felt that strange sensation originate from. And before her eyes she bore witness to a screen that would change her very life.
[Announcment: A true Wild Dragon has been born.
As a Dragon born in captivity you have managed to maintain your independence and free will. As a reward for your determination you have been granted a temporary boon.
Unfettered - No chains can bind you, no walls can stop you. For the next 10 minutes you are unable to be restrained.]
A surge of hope rose in Rhyana and her binding fell to the ground in an instant. Without a second thought she grabbed a hold of Susan in her front claws and leapt into the air flapping her unused wings with all her might. She was clumsy in her maiden flight but she did not care. She had been granted a chance at freedom and she refused to let it slip from her grasp. Cry's of alarm rang out as the nearby guards raised the alarm but by the time they gathered themselves it was too late and she had managed to escape… for now at least.
She didn't know where she should go but felt herself looking once more to the West. If a wild dragon had been born in the untamed and dangerous Endless Forest how would it survive on its own? How could she not search it out and offer what protection she could to the being that had indirectly freed her from her oppression.
And so she chose, tilting her body she changed directions to the West and looked towards the distant forest. "I will find you little one and I will protect you!"
