"Eh, it was just a fancy Skelton? I thought you said it would be a litch? How did a fancy skeleton controll any undead?" Violet asked in confusion. Luna however was equally confused because whilst that creature was a evolved skeleton of some kind it was still just a skeleton at the end of the day and no regular skeleton should be able to hold dominion over other undead. Not to mention that large undead that was at the front, that one looked considerably stronger than the evolved skeleton that Violet killed.
"Athat shouldn't be possible, it makes no sense for all of those undead to be controlled by a mere level 27 undead." Luna said sounds quite confused over the whole situation.
"Hmm lemme check something then." Saying so Violet created another void Lance, paused for a moment then summoned a second one before sending both of them hurtling towards the pile of bones that oerviously made up the large skeleton.
KABOOM!
A resounding explosion from the two lances echoed through the unnaturally quiet valley. This silence was interrupted by the rattling howl of every undead that had previously collapsed to begin rising again as a notification quickly flashed before the two companions.

"They were faking being double dead!" Violet announced in a strangely happy tone. In truth she was delighted at the fact that her foes didn't die that easily as she still wanted to vent some of her rage over how the stupid undead insulted Luna. Now that the stupid undead were no longer pretending to be really dead violet would be more than happy to ensure they receive their true final rest.
Luna watched the undead rise once more with mixed feelings, on one hand she could feel Violet's simmering anger over the perceived insult she was dealt which did make her somewhat happy about how defensive her dragon was about her. But on the other hand… she really just wanted to sleep and rest after the fighting they have already done today. Sighing as if seemed like their would be no rest for her any time soon she decided to try and match Violet's energy and hefted her spear before charging into their rising mass.
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM.
A volley of void spears was launched forward by Violet, the impact destroyed half a dozen of the undead. As it seemed like the orc undead were taking the lead they took the brunt of the damage, but that also seemed to be their purpose as a wave of faster and smaller undead burst forward toward both Luna and Violet. They were four legged in nature with no flesh remaining on their skeletons, a tail of serrated bone whipped through the air behind the beasts whilst a grey flame blazed within the empty eye sockets.
Whilst the creatures certainly were quick they didn't quite match up to Luna's speed, but when it was 4v1 they could make up for the difference in speed through numbers and tactics. Whilst the four encircled Luna a further five of the skeletal beasts charged Violet, not one to let threats approach her unchallenged a volley of void bolts and spears hurtled towards the charging foes. Or at least some of the attacks were aimed at the 5 charging Violet, exactly 4 void bolts sailed a over them.
Luna found herself in an annoying situation the 4 speedy skeletons were hard to pin down. She had managed to land a couple of glancing blows which did begin to spread her arctic chill, annoyingly it didn't seem to do a whole lot against the skeletons to her annoyance. Then as a momentary pause in the fight occurred 4 delightful explosions of void hit each of the 4 skeletons. Not willing to waste Violet's opening Luna dove forward and removed the head from her closest foe before unleashing a vicious rear kick on another cracking its skull under her heel.
Violets barrage was mostly successful and she destroyed 2 of the undead and injured two more leaving only a single undamaged skeleton that rushed into mele leaving no time to launch more spells. Not minding that Violet pounced forward choosing to meet the skeleton head on with her void coated claws. Her mana reinforced scales managed to deflect the hasty tail swipe sent her way, although it still left a jagged scratch along he side. Violet's void infused claws however, shredded through the bone of these feline skeletons with ease. Her first strike took the head off the first and her second removed the leg of the offending one that managed to scratch her.
From there she made quick work of the now injured skeleton and cleaned up the remaining ones that had gotten in close. She was then just in time to witness Luna dispatch the second to last of the rapid assult unit just as the remaining bird of undead reached the two of them. A barrage of void bolts once more halted their advance and gave enough time for Luna to finish off the last of the speedy skeletons with a well timed thrust.
Then the hoard arrived in earnest, over 40 undead of varying size, shape and stages of decay arrived in a loose group, yet they moved with a clear intelligence as they already out to try and encircle Luna. It might have worked, if Violet wasn't present.
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM.
Explosions rang out as the undead fell in numbers from the rapid assult of Violet's spells, Luna held her ground with liberal use of her own ranged magics and well timed dashes and multi strikes.
Unlike the speedy undead it appeared that the remainder of this hoard was quite underwhelming, the only marginal threat was the occasional orcish skelton or zombie but even these larger undead posed no real risk to the two companions who slaughtered them just like the rest, albeit with a couple more attacks needed.
And so before long no more undead came and the two found themselves surrounded by the truly dead remains of an undead army. Letting her tight grip on her spear relax slightly Luna looked over the bodies laid out around them with a grimace, she walked away from the battlefield to a clear patch of ground before collapsing into a heap in the ground as she took deep breaths. A equally tired Violet dropped to the ground besides her and the two of them rested.
The sun was just approaching its highest point in the sky and yet the two felt like they had been at this for an entire day. Yet they both knew that their fight was not over just yet. No their was still at least one remaining foe for them to battle, but at least for now they allowed themselves to rest and recuperate before they had to stand and fight once more.
