As the two orc scouts headless bodies collapsed to the ground the 3 warriors in the middle roared in surprise, fear and anger. For in the span of meer moments 2 of their number had been slain and now they found themselves facing off against some very deadly foes. Violet stayed in the shadows for now opting to allow Luna to draw their attention before she dove into the fray.
Luna meanwhile spun her staff as she looked over the 3 remaining orcs in front of her. A mask of cool fury covered her face but she refused to allow her emotions to rule her and using this battle as a test for her resolve would be a worthy test.
Whilst Luna couldn't see Violet she knew her well enough to know that she would strike when the orcs least expected it and that it would be done to devastating effect. All she needed to do for now was to grab their attention and keep it on her. Something that she didn't think would be all too hard given how the 3 warriors were glaring at her with malice in their eyes.
All three were large beasts standing head and shoulders above her, bulging muscles strained as they gripped their crude weapons. The central of the 3 stepped forward and unleashed a battle cry before charging forward directly at Luna. Taking a stance long trained into her by her farther she moved her left foot back, lowered her centre of gravity and held her spear out before her. As the beast closed the distance Luna jabbed forward with her ice encrusted spear quickly enough that the orc failed to raise its club up soon enough to deflect the blow.
ROAR!
It unleashed a bellow of pain whilst Luna danced out of its still advancing path, ripping the spear out but allowing her ice constructed tip to remain firmly lodged into the orc side. Already ice crystals were forming around the impact site and the green leathery skin was darkening and taking in a distinct blue tint around it. Seems like the ability of her arctic ice to impart its chill has advanced significantly since when last she battled the orcs.
As she stepped back she fired off a couple of ice bolts into the orcs face as soon as it turned around to face her, letting out a yelp the orc rapidly raised its club and managed to block both ice bolts. Just as the orc was lowering its club with a grin on its face was when Luna dashed back in already with a fresh ice strike imbuing the spear tip.
SHLUNK. GRAHHH
The razor sharp tip pierced deep into the orcs chest narrowly missing its heart and causing it to unleash a gurgling cry as it staggered away quickly loosing strength in its limbs as blood gushed out of both of its wounds, even as frost rapidly spread both across and from within the creature.
Whilst Luna was dealing with the first one the other two had decided to split and charge her from either side in order to trap her between them, sadly for them however she wasn't alone either.
Violet had watched the short battle that Luna was having with the orc and smiled when she noticed the ease of which she was overwhelming a singular orc. When compared to the struggle both of them had faced when facing a single orc not too long ago this was a dramatic improvement that both of them revealed in.
As the last two began to charge in Violet decided to just let Luna know and tackle one of them herself. "One coming from your right, iv got the left one" saying so she quickly dashed out of her hiding spot and fired off a void bolt. As she only wanted to grab its attention she only aimed for its shoulder.
Still though violet slightly underestimated the strength of her magic. The bolt flew forward at a rapid pace and impacted with a subdued whoomp. What wasn't subdued however was the effects that it had.
Whilst previously her shadow magic had the ability to cling to whatever it struck and seemed to eat away at it and her arcane was much more explosive her void seemed to be able to freely alternate between the two. Whilst she tended towards the more explosive aspects of her magic thanks to the greater damage it tended to do in a single burst. She had never actually tried to imbue it with both effects at the same time however.
So when the bolt struck the shoulder it first spread out as if it were to begin eating away at its body. But after barely a moment every point of the inky blackness that was her void simply vanished with a whoomp. But it didn't go by itself, every part of the orcs shoulder that the void touched was taken away as well. So for a brief moment Violet was able to see the split open muscles and protruding bone from where should have been skin.
However this moment soon ended and almost as if the body needed a moment to register what had happened blood suddenly began to pour out of the wound and the orc let out an agonised howl of pain.
The overall area that this scoured in was only around the size of Lunas fist but it dug in just as deep and seemed to take some of the orcs shoulder blade with it.
Not one to waste such an opening violet used void step and appeared on the back of the orc and coated her claws in void before beginning to tear into the creature. Her jaw lashed out aiming for the neck of her unwilling mount, her razor sharp teeth dug in and quickly found purchase on its spine.
CRUNCH!
As violet was quickly brutalising her orc Luna spun to face her new opponent seeing as the first one was staggering away. She redirected the overhead swing of its crude stone axe with the haft of the spear before utilising that momentum to unleash a kick to the back of its knee.
SNAP.
The orc knee shattered with that rapid blow and it instantly lost its ballence and fell to the ground in front of Luna as she hopped back to avoid it landing on her. Now on the ground it offered no resistance as she lunged forward spear first and pierced through the back of its neck ending its life.
Looking up from her kill violet saw the first orc that Luna fought collapse to the ground in a heap as if too finally succumbed to its injuries.
