Exhausted but satisfied Violet flopped down on the floor now that they were back in the safety of the cave. The pain of her injuries having somewhat dulled during the rapid rush back. Luna appeared to be in a similar state and was splayed out on the floor panting from the exertion.

"I managed to level up and can now evolve!" Violets tired but excited mental voice came through the bond to Luna. It took her a moment to register that till she looked up in excitement.

"Oh wow really! That's great are you going to evolve right now?"

"Soon, too tired just now." Was violets response, she was still quite overwhelmed by the massive list of upgrades to all of her skills and took a few minutes to catch her breath and check over all of the abilities that had loved up.

But soon enough Violet was ready. "Going to evolve now. Will be asleep for a bit. See you soon!" And without waiting for a response Violet opened up the evolution options and began looking through her options.

[Evolution Available, Please select from the following:]

Young Arcane Shadow Dragon

Young Arcane Dragon

Young Shadow Dragon

Young Umbral Dragon

Young Mystical Dragon

#'@#*^` \ Dr{}on @[],># Void#?

'Well that is both expected and very unexpected, why is that last option mostly unreadable? the last 3 seem the most interesting but lets go through this properly' and do Violet began to give each option its due consideration. 'I can rule out both the young Shadow and Arcane options as they are just worse versions of the top option. Whereas Umbral and Mystical I'm quite interested in.'

Now thanks to Violets increased Intelligence and Wisdom she could glean a decent amount of information about the options compared to her first evolution where all she had was the name and some basic instincts to go from. Thanks to this she did have a rough idea about what each option entailed.

'Both Umbral and Mystical seem to be a higher form of magic than my Basic Arcane and Shadow magics. They seem to be a combination of the two with Umbral focusing more on the shadow side and Mystical focusing more on the Arcane side. Both would be great options and I can see myself happily taking them as an option but that does still leave the strange Void option.'

'Now why is its name mostly broken? It even has a question mark at the end which is confusing. But I am still getting some impressions from it, mainly that it feels like a more equal mix between arcane and shadow magic, but their is a feeling that this option has been.. lost somehow? not sure how that works but it feels powerful.'

It was a tricky decision indeed and narrowed down she was left with either taking the direct upgrade of Young Arcane Shadow Dragon, or merging her magics either with Arcane or Shadows taking the forefront with Mystical and Umbral respectively. Or taking a leap of faith with the final option of Void. Well it was time to think and think hard.

And so for the first time ever Violet sat still and thought for over 10 seconds straight. In fact she thought deeply for an entire 12 seconds!

What did she choose in the end? Well it should be obvious, she naturally chose the strongest sounding one there and trusting her instincts she chose the strange void option.

That feeling of risk and reward was too great to turn down for our young little dragon and so as she accepted the option and felt herself fall to sleep, a pink and blue hue enveloped her before slowly shifting to take on a slightly darker hue.

The bright blue and pink merged together to become a Violet glow perfectly matching her eye colour. And as the colour began to settle threads of black wove together into the light show. But it wasn't just black, no it was the pure absence of anything, as if a thread made out of the nothingness of space was somehow interwoven with the beautiful Violet shell of power that was currently encasing the Infant Dragon.

The size of the shell was considerably larger than the small dragon it initially enveloped, it was around 1 meter from end to end and was in a roughly egg like shape.

As Luna watched this unfold she couldn't help but stare at the majestic sight before her. This was true magic, it felt both ancient and powerful, and she was somehow bound to the creature that is able to elicit such a powerful evolution? Over the past few days Luna thought she had gotten a handle on Violets power and potential but it would seem that even she, Violets companion and best friend had managed to underestimate her potential.

And so as the egg of Violet and nothingness settled into its form and as time passed Luna settled down herself and waited for her companions evolution to be complete.

——-

As Violet underwent her evolution events were transpiring around the continent. From the continued battle for supremacy under the watch of the Champion Beast Protocol. To the steady yet constant march of the Storm Titan in its endless pursuit of an Endless Storm.

But one place we haven't heard from in a while was the 'civilised' part of the continent. Specifically back in the Kingdom of Eldor.

2 days after Violet began her evolution.

The King of Eldor strode into his Council chamber the heavy wooden doors being swiftly opened by a pair of guards that stood at either side of them. Walking around he sat down at the head of the table in a chair that mimicked his main throne but came equipped with cushions to allow for comfort during long meetings. He had a feeling tonight would result in a long meeting.

"What is this news that is so urgent that I was awoken in the middle of the night?" He finally stated once all noise had stopped and the doors of the council chamber had fully closed, leaving the king with only his most trusted advisors and generals.

"Well the new seer for the Church of the Dragon Servant had a prophesy not 20 minutes ago your grace." One of the Generals stated. This caused all present to suck in a lung full of air, after the uproar that the previous prophesy caused the after effects of which are still being felt. No one present was eager to hear a new prophesy from that dragon loving cult.

Letting out a deep sigh the king eventually spoke with a weary voice. "Well out with it then, what was this new accursed prophesy? And please tell me this one was kept under better secrecy."

The general who originally spoke carefully took out a piece of parchment and after answering the last question from the King began to read from it.

"Yes your Grace the new Seer has been kept from spreading this information. As for the Prophecy." he coughed into his hand before continuing. "The new Era has begun, a champion shall be crowned, the Endless Forest once more awakens.

Magic's of the Wilds began to stray, as the Void awakens all shall know.

The Era is over and the Forest now grows."

Silence overtook the council chambers once the general finished speaking. As the king looked around his eyes landed upon Ralph, who upon noticing his kings gaze spoke up. "Well as ominous as that may sound I think we can focus on 2 points, their is to be a Champion arising within the forest and the fact that the Endless Forest is beginning to grow. These are two points that we must face head on."

Nodding at this council the King opened his mouth as we was about to agree before a notification appeared before him. In fact this notification appeared in front of every single sentient creature on this Continent, be them beast, human, Beastkin or anything else.

[Announcement:]

A extinct Species has risen from the ashes - Wild Dragon - Dragon of the Void.

With the resurrection of a lost species the shackles on the Endless Forest have been broken. It can now once more grow to reclaim its lost territories.

Only the Champion of the Beasts may control its expansion.

[Congratulations only 500,000 Champion Beasts Remain. A new rule has been added to the Protocol to incentivise continued challenge and growth:

Now when any sapient defeats a Champion you may claim its mantle. Beware for any who hold this mantle and are not of the beast blood you shall be marked for all Champions to see.

Bonus rewards shall be granted to any Champion based on number of mantles held once total number is reduced to 100,000 or one year has passed since the Champion Beast Protocol initiated.]

As the King and all of his councillors read the new announcement the King could only respond with s complicated look as he recognised the opportunity this could present, but also recognised the potential danger it represented too. as the rest of the continent read this announcement a wave of both horror and Greed spread through the entire continent, particularly in the east past the Endless Forest where most of the Sapient non beasts lived, all people can now be sure that the previous prophesy which had spread through all lands was in fact true, and that a new era had once more arrived.

Back in the forest a young Snow Leopard Beastkin waited intently for her companion to awaken after the two days she was beginning to get nervous. However, just as she was about to start cooking another meal a crack echoed out in the cave, looking over she saw the violet egg had a crack down its side. As this happened she too received the announcement.

But she also received a notification unique to her after she finished reading that.

[Congratulations your bound companion has evolved into a lost Species - Young Dragon of the Void]

[For being bound to a lost species you are granted the opportunity to evolve your own species]

[Evolution option available]

Arctic Leopard Beastkin

Luna was stunned for a moment having heard of that species only once before, from the tale of the hero who had defeated the lich and was granted the evolution upgrade. it would appear that she had now been granted this opportunity too, all for being bonded to a slightly crazy dragon. smiling wryly Luna shook her head but still accepted the evolution option, looking forward to find out what changes this could bring to her.

And so on the day that the 'civilised world' underwent its second wave of panic and unease our two companions underwent and completed their evolution into a lost species and one that was only known of through legends.

What next awaits our two intrepid companions only time will tell.
