Gonna be some good ol gore in this chapter. You have been warned.
——
Luna woke up to the sounds of thunder and after an initial moment of panic she soon settled down as she felt the now familiar warmth of Violets smooth scales laying next to her, her tail was even wrapped around her arm causing a fussy feeling of comfort to calm the last of her nerves. She lay there for a moment enjoying the warmth and comfort of their shared bed and thought that they would have to try find more of those peculiar mutated gerbils as their fur was simply too soft!
Eventually Violet too woke up and after a quick exchange of greetings she extracted herself from Luna and stretched out making an adorable little squeak of delight at the action. With both girls now awake Luna quickly set about making a fire to cook the last of their food before wandering over to the pond to have a drink alongside the dragon.
Once their thirst was sated they sat by the fire as Luna cooed their food and they quickly devoured the last of it off. Then they stood as one and made their way over to the cave entrance. The echos of battle could still be heard from the forest before them, a cacophonous and ever present backdrop to the bleak sky's and flashing of lightning. however, their was only any battle sounds coming from the path that the Storm Titan took, the rest of the forest was deathly silent.
After observing the sight for a while Luna spoke up, "so first things first, we need more wood, so I think we should spend some time collecting some and bringing it back to the cave so it can dry out whilst we go hunting." Sensing that Violet had no arguments to that the two made their way outside and into the rain.
Instantly Violet was not a fan. "I don't like rain." She suddenly announced which only revived a snort of agreement from Luna who was already looking quite pitiful as her hair was plastered to her face in moments as they were both drenched.
However they soldiered on and made a beeline into the forest. They surprisingly didn't see a single monster in the surroundings which made Luna frown in a mix of happiness and worry. Happy because it made their current job easier but worried as it meant they would have to roam further to find anything to hunt.
But soon enough they had made a couple trips back and forth and now had a healthy collection of fallen branches and twigs that would easily last a week. At least the storm did one good thing and made plenty of branches fall from the trees providing easy pickings for them both.
Once happy with the amount of firewood they had gathered they once more headed off into the woods, they intended to sweep the area around the cave before slowly spreading out whilst trying to avoid the direction of where the titan walked. Violet used her shadow manipulation to further hide them in the low lighting of the forest as they traveled. Thankfully they both had quite good low light vision but once the shadows enveloped them this vision improved as the shadows themselves no longer hid anything from the two.
As they slowly stalked through the woods it continued to remain barren of monsters causing both girls to become slightly worried. They had been out hunting for almost an hour now and had yet to see any signs of life which was a truly strange thing given the usual density of monsters in this area.
But regardless of their misgivings they continued on slowly sweeping the forest in search of anything. And after almost 2 they accepted that it would appear that all the monsters not in the direct path of the titan or that weren't strong enough had fled the area, assuming that meant that all the strong monsters in the area had gone to do battle in the titans path. so with some resignation the pair headed in the direction of the ongoing war. they soon started seeing signs of intense battles.
And this was only the first sign of battle, as they walked they would occasionally see parts of dismembered corpses. Scars in the landscape from mighty beats battling. Swaths of trees having been uprooted from some creature passing through that was too big to easily pass through. It was a terrifying and awe inspiring sight to behold.
Yet they had still yet to see a single living creature, despite still hearing constant sounds of battle off in the distance. And so they continued on heading directly towards the sounds of war.
The signs of battle grew more common as they got closer to the path the Titan took and it wasn't too long before they spotted their first creature, or creatures as they spotted 2 relatively small beasts battling. On one side was some kind of wolf that had a small bolts of electricity run down its body at regular intervals, it was fighting off against a wild boar, and the boar was loosing, badly.
The boar was already limping with one legs already shredded and it had multiple deep wounds along its body but it was still standing for now and glaring at the lightning wolf. But with a quick message to Luna that changed quickly. Violet summoned a arcane lance and launched it towards the wolf whilst Luna dashed forwards and struck at the boar with an ice strike.
BOOM. THUD, CRACKLE.
It was a short but brutal exchange with the lance striking the wolf in the head and exploding popping the wolf's skull and sending brain matter in all directions, meanwhile Lunas strike landed on the board back and froze a large part of its spine which promptly shattered under her blow causing the boar to collapse to the ground.

"That was easy!" Violet happily said only to pause as a spike of both annoyance and worry came through their bond at her words causing her to instantly go on alert. "What is it? An enemy?" Violet asked.
"No, no it's nothing, it's just it's bad luck to say something is too easy as chances are something terrible will happen once you say that." Luna replied mentally.
"Well that's silly. Why would words cause bad luck? Silly stupid small one." Violet declared. Then she paused as another spike of annoyance came through the bond but this time with a hint of amusement.
"Fine I'll let you have that one dragon but you can carry the boar as it's bigger than the wolf as you've removed its head." Violet begrudgingly agreed to her conditions and summoned several shadow limbs to wrap up the boar and drag it towards her. Luna meanwhile walked over to the wolf and grabbed a hold of its hind legs and began to drag it away.
However just as they were about to head out a new sound reached them. This sound was accompanied by the shaking of the ground and upon noticing this both girls looked at each other as they realised that it was getting louder and closer. "I told you so!" Luna told the baby dragon who could only feel slight shame as Lunas prediction appeared to have come true.
But regardless both girls dropped their prey and prepared for a battle. Violet summed 2 arcane spears and made them spin in place above her shoulders, whilst Luna crouched down into a ready stance whilst a thin layer of frost covered her body.
Not a moment later a veritable hoard of monsters flooded out of the trees in front of them. They were small creatures but their shear number was enough to make both girls feel some fear. They were a strange creature with 4 limbs which they used for travel, they had fur covered bodies but a long scaled tail. Their head was some kind of avian beak and they all had glowing blue eyes. The most worrying thing about them though was that all of them seemed to have a layer of water covering their bodies proving their magical might.
Sadly for them however they happened to run into a dragon and her companion.
BOOM! BOOM!
Both arcane spears flew forward skewering multiple of the beasts before exploding sending chunks of flesh flying as several of the beasts were instantly slaughtered. Luna then dashed forwards and unleashed a flurry of strikes.
THUD, CRACK, THUD, SKREEEECH
Her first were covered in a layer of ice with jagged spikes protruding from her knuckles. Each blow to the head killed the recipient whilst body shots elicited pained screams and cracked ribs along with a coating of frost that drastically slowed down any movement.
Violet stayed behind her companion and slung spell after spell whilst also summoning her newly developed arcane shields to protect Luna from any foe that aimed for her back.
When some of the hoard got close to Violet she unleashed her Dragon Aura in a pulse around her momentarily stunning all foes whilst invigorating both Luna and Violet with a surge of strength. The two girls did not let this chance go to waste.
BOOM! BOOM! THUD, THUD, THUD!
Balls of pink and blue mana shot out at the clusters of monsters whilst the shadows themselves seemed to reach out and trip some of the creatures causing bodies to crash into each other. Luna danced around the battlefield dealing death with a barrage of blows.
As the two got lost in the fight it took the two a moment to realise that their were no more enemies to attack. Upon realising that they had won Luna wanted to both celebrate and collapse but Violet quickly vetoed that stating that they had to leave the area or more would come, Luna sobered at that and agreed. She quickly picked up one of the more intact monsters whilst Luna grabbed the wolf corpse that somehow remained untouched during that fight and together the two of them stumbled away from the battlefield in the direction of their cave.
Adored in numerous cuts and bruises the pair were exhausted but excited at their hard fought victory and before long they managed to arrive back at the cave unmolested.
Only once they entered the cave did Violet look at the awaiting notification.
