Chapter 11 - Insecure?

Chapter Eleven

Lys's POV

"Lysander, don't you think we are going too hard on her? We are supposed to help her get stronger, not kill her," Daren said while I spread butter across the bread.

I paused the moment the words left his mouth. After everything that happened today, it was only normaly for me to crash out at his place.

I wanted the both of us to have that discuss, and also know the way forward. It was my fault for meeting up with him when he clearly told me he was having an important training. Q

"If anyone finds out about our relationship, we are both going down," I said coldly. "Do you actually think we should trust that human girl?"

Disgust twisted in my chest at the mere thought of her.

I would rather kill myself and disgrace my father's name than be mated to someone like her. What made it worse was how hard it was to control my wolf whenever she was around. That loss of control fueled my hatred even more.

"Still—"

"I'm not saying we should kill her," I cut in sharply before he could finish. "I'm just suggesting we teach her a few lessons that would make her wish for death. Those are two entirely different things."

I saw the look in his eyes. The same look he always gave me when he pitied me. I hated it.

"I know you're bi," I said, slowly pushing my chair back. "Don't tell me you're starting to have a soft spot for her."

He said nothing.

I stood up and walked toward him, my footsteps slow and deliberate.

"Are you insecure right now?" he asked, breaking the silence.

I let out a low chuckle.

"Insecure?" I replied. "Anyone would be jealous if they saw their partner getting close to someone else, regardless of gender."

Anger burned through my veins.

"Remember, we are not partners yet," he said bluntly. "This is just a fling. Don't take things too seriously."

His words struck deeper than I wanted to admit.

I knew he was right. That was the worst part. Hearing it from him still hurt.

"Then I guess I shouldn't have gotten involved with you," I snapped. "Fuck you. Do you know how jealous I get when you act this way? Yes. I am insecure."

His expression softened.

Daren stood up slowly and reached for my wrists, pulling me toward him with a gentleness that made my chest tighten.

Those eyes. The very ones I fell for. Everything about him unraveled me. I never imagined I would fall for him of all people. Especially not someone so much older than me.

"I'm sorry," he said quietly. "I spoke out of anger."

He pulled me closer.

My heart raced as I felt his breath against my face. His lips met mine slowly, drawing me into a deep kiss that made everything else fade away.

His apology still lingered in the air when something inside me snapped into place.

I took control.

My hands slid from his wrists to his waist, gripping firmly. Not rough, but certain. His breath hitched immediately. That reaction alone sent a dark thrill through me.

"Don't apologize," I said quietly. "Just stay."

His eyes darkened. He did not resist when I pulled him closer. If anything, he leaned into my hold, trusting me to lead.

I kissed him again. This time deeper. Hungrier. I bit his lower lip lightly, enough to make him gasp against my mouth. His fingers fisted in my shirt, but his body softened, yielding.

I broke the kiss only to hook one arm around his back and the other under his legs.

His eyes widened. "Lys—"

His hands trembled slightly against my wrists, not from fear but from restraint. I felt it in the way he held back, in the way his body leaned into mine as if asking permission without words.

I broke the kiss first, my forehead resting against his.

"You hurt me," I whispered.

"I know," he replied softly. "And I hate myself for it."

My fingers curled into his shirt. I pulled him closer anyway.

His lips found mine again, slower this time. Deeper. The kind of kiss that carried apology and need all at once. Heat pooled low in my stomach as his hands slid up my arms, not rushing, not taking. Just touching as if he was memorizing me.

I breathed him in. The scent of him. The familiarity that made my chest ache.

"You drive me insane," I said quietly.

A small, broken laugh left him. "Good. Because you do the same to me."

He guided me back until I felt the table behind me. My heartbeat thundered as his body caged mine, close enough that I could feel everything he wasn't saying.

I lifted him effortlessly.

The strong and the respeted professor reduced to a sharp breath and clinging hands as I carried him to the table.

I set him down slowly, deliberately, my body staying between his legs. He looked up at me like I was something dangerous and inevitable. I loved that look.

My hands pressed to the table on either side of him as I leaned down, claiming his mouth again. He kissed back desperately now, no hesitation, no control left to pretend.

His fingers slid into my hair, tugging. I responded by kissing down his jaw, along his throat, stopping where his pulse raced wildly beneath my lips.

"You like when I take charge," I murmured against his skin.

He swallowed. "Yes."

That single word undid me more than any plea could have.

For once, he was not the older professor. Not the man who always knew better. He was mine.

And I intended to remind him of that all night. My hand slowly reached for his chest, while I pulled down his pants revealing his hard dick.

"Fuck!" I cussed on seeing how fucking hard he was.

My hand reached for his underwear, slowly touching his dick while I stroked it gently.

"Ah shit!" He cussed tossing his head backwards.

"I've not even started yet." I teased him slowly. "Get straight to the damn point." He pleaded.

A smirk appeared on my face slowly lowering my head to his dick which was out of the under wear already.

His hand went straight to my hair pulling them slowly. My tongue flicked the tip of his cock, while my other hand was on my cock trying to ease the pain too.

********

Morning light filtered through the curtains, soft and pale, spilling across the room like it had no idea what had happened the night before.

I woke first.

Daren was still asleep beside me, his back pressed lightly to my chest, his breathing slow and even.

For a moment, I stayed still, watching the rise and fall of him, memorizing the warmth we still shared. His shirt was discarded somewhere on the floor. Mine too.

The way I had tucked him so hard before he slept slowly came up in my head, leaving me with a soft chuckle.

The faint marks on his neck made my chest tighten with a sense of possession I was not ready to question.

I reached out without thinking, my fingers brushing his arm.

He stirred immediately.

"Morning," he murmured, voice rough with sleep.

"Morning," I replied quietly.

He shifted, turning to face me. There was something softer in his eyes now. Less guarded. Less sharp. It almost made me uneasy.

"I have training this morning," he said after a pause. "Early."

I let out a slow sigh, staring up at the ceiling. Reality had a way of crashing in when I least wanted it to.

"Of course you do."

He smiled faintly but it did not quite reach his eyes. He pushed himself up, grabbing his glasses from the bedside table. For a few seconds, he looked like the professor again.

I guess I was the only one who'd ever see this side of him. He's well known for not being able to stick with one lady before he met me.

That distance brought back the conversation we had buried under heat and apologies.

The one we never finished.

He hesitated before standing fully, then looked back at me.

"Lys," he said quietly. "About yesterday."

I turned my head toward him.

"Do not do anything to Elora," he warned. "I mean it."

My jaw tightened instantly.

"I already told you," I replied. "She is a liability."

"She is a student," he snapped back. "And she is human. Whatever you think you are doing her is crossing a line. Don't forget she also belongs to you and your siblings."

Eeeew! My siblings could have her, I really do not care.

I sat up slowly, the sheets slipping down my waist.

"Why does this bother you so much?" I asked.

Silence stretched between us.

Then I spoke again, my voice low and sharp. I'd want the most honest response from him.

"Are you attracted to her?"
