Chapter 17
Elora's POV
I returned to school the next morning with a tight knot sitting in my stomach that refused to loosen. The brothers had insisted that I could not hide in their house forever, and I knew they were right.
After class lessons, I will still sleep over at the place and I think that is fair enough.
Still, as I walked through the gates, my steps felt heavier than usual, as if the ground itself was trying to hold me back.
I kept my head up and my shoulders straight, but my fingers trembled slightly around the strap of my bag.
My first class ended without anything unusual happening, yet the moment I stood up to leave, a strange tension settled over the room. It felt like the air had suddenly thickened.
I could not explain it, but my chest tightened and my breath grew shallow. Something was wrong, but I was yet to pinpoint what it was.
