Storming into Shrek
Creaaak~
The director's office creaked as its door pushed open slowly.
A shadowy head poked inside, followed by a sloshing wine jar.
"Heh… so you guys were hiding here," Lu Yuan's deep voice drawled, his steps unsteady but his eyes razor-sharp. "Were you avoiding me on purpose?"
Flander and Yu Xiaogang had secluded themselves deliberately, hoping to avoid contact while rumors spread like wildfire outside. The last person they wanted barging in was precisely this lunatic.
But there he was.
"Lu Yuan?!"
Zao Wou-ki shot up from the sofa like a startled bear, expression twisting. What's he doing here now? Did those idiots Dai Mubai provoke him again? Impossible—those brats have kept their heads down since Tang San left. Then… what is this bastard here for?
Lu Yuan ignored him. His wine jar slammed on the table with a thunk, his strides predatory.
In a blink, he had shoved Flander hard against the wall.
Bang! A sickening muffled sound echoed through the room.
"Why'd you bastards beat Feng Xiaotian?" Lu Yuan snarled. "Why'd you rough up my messenger?"
His voice carried the weight of dragons.
"W-wait, calm down!" Zao Wou-ki stammered, sweat popping across his forehead. The spirit pressure radiating off this youngster was terrifying. "There must be some misunderstanding—talk first!"
He looked at Lu Yuan's rings flickering: three purple, three black. Soul Emperor… already?! His heart sank. Even if he and Flander fought together, they weren't opponents.
"You tell me!" Lu Yuan pressed harder against Flander's chest. "Why the hell did you lay hands on the boy?"
Flander coughed, struggling for breath. "I—I thought he was… spreading slander about Shrek…"
"Pah!" Lu Yuan spat, fury in his eyes. "Bullshit!"
Then he barked a harsh laugh. "Forget it—for the sake of my son's full moon banquet, I won't smash your face this time. But this…"
He shoved a red slip into Flander's arm grip. "This is the invitation. You'd better come."
Leaving no more words, he spun and stormed out.
In the stunned silence, Flander unfolded the invitation with trembling fingers.
"'Lu Xiaoyu's Full Moon Banquet…'" he muttered aloud. His face paled, then reddened.
If this was a "rumor," then Lu Yuan himself was spreading it. His instincts screamed: It's real.
Yu Xiaogang's fingers twitched violently.
A Storm Inside
The next morning, Tiandou City was ablaze with uproar. Invitations spread like wildfire. Every noble, sect, and academy worth naming had received one.
The name was bold. The father: Lu Yuan. The mother: Liu Erlong.
"Flander… tell me this isn't true."
Yu Xiaogang's voice trembled as he stormed into the office. His thin face was pale, his eyes bloodshot from a sleepless night. The city's whispers, the laughing rumors—it was unbearable.
"Xiaogang, calm down," Flander sighed, weariness written across his shoulders. "The entire imperial family received invitations too. Even they can't deny it anymore. This… is truth."
Truth.
The word crashed in Yu Xiaogang's chest like a boulder.
Liu Erlong… had given birth. And not to him, but to Lu Yuan's son.
His mind went blank. His fists clenched until blood welled from his palms.
"No… no, I don't believe it!" he shouted, madness twisting his voice. "I'll prove this is all fake!"
Before Flander could stop him, Yu Xiaogang tore out of the school like a desperate ghost.
Confrontation
Boom—boom—boom!
Lu Yuan's front door rattled under Yu Xiaogang's fists. "Lu Yuan, come out!" he roared.
But it wasn't Lu Yuan who emerged.
The door cracked open.
And Liu Erlong stepped out.
Clad in the robes of a new mother, hair tied back hastily, eyes tired yet filled with strength.
"E-Erlong…" Yu Xiaogang's voice broke. His heart seized. "You—you and Lu Yuan…"
Her eyes flickered, widening at the sight of him. For a heartbeat, time froze.
Then she nodded softly. Her words fell like thunder:
"Yes. We have a child."
Yu Xiaogang staggered back three steps, as though the sentence were a blade to his chest.
He felt his world collapse.
Yu Xiaogang's Collapse
"No…" he whispered weakly. Then louder, frantically, "No! This is a trick! You're lying to me, Erlong! You asked Lu Yuan to cooperate in some charade, didn't you? All of this is staged, isn't it? Tell me it's staged!"
A sound cut him off—waaaaahhh!!!
From inside, a baby's cry rang out clear and sharp.
Liu Erlong's icy glare turned molten with motherly tenderness. She snapped at Yu Xiaogang with venom: "Quiet! You'll wake my son again!"
Her chest heaved as she turned back into the house, scooping the wailing baby gently. Her voice softened instantly, melting with warmth.
"Shhh, Xiaoyu, mom is here. Don't cry, baby."
Yu Xiaogang froze in place.
The cry stabbed into his heart. Each wail hammered the truth louder than words.
Liu Erlong… had borne a child. And she had borne it for Lu Yuan.
He was broken.
Lu Yuan Returns
The street rattled with heavy steps. Lu Yuan's figure appeared again, wine jug swinging arrogantly at his side. His eyes narrowed to slits when he saw Yu Xiaogang blocking his door.
"You bastard. What are you doing outside my house?"
Yu Xiaogang's face twisted as bloodshot eyes glared daggers.
If only I could beat him, his heart screamed. If only I had the strength to break this monster.
But he knew he was nothing.
Flander couldn't stop him. Zao Wou-ki couldn't stop him. How could he?
"Lu Yuan!" Yu Xiaogang's voice cracked. "What… what did you do to Erlong?! She would never have given herself to the likes of you willingly! You forced her, didn't you? Tell me you did! Tell me she's not—"
"Enough!"
The door burst open again. Liu Erlong's fury ripped through the air as she marched out, eyes blazing.
"Yu Xiaogang, don't you dare slander me! Maybe I didn't plan this child. Maybe it wasn't 'willing' at first. But I assure you—our son is mine. And I am proud to raise him with Lu Yuan."
Her glare pierced him like knives. "Do not lecture me on who I should care for. You don't understand me anymore. People change, Xiaogang. You and I—we are finished."
"Erlong…" Yu Xiaogang's lips trembled, choking on his words.
But before he could speak, she turned back sharply toward the house, her voice softer again, echoing through the doorway:
"Baby, your dad's here. Let's not wake Xiaoyu."
The door creaked shut.
Yu Xiaogang stood abandoned. His laugh escaped—twisted, guttural, more bitter than sobbing.
"Heh… Erlong… I'm sorry. I can't… I can't even attend your child's banquet. I don't have the face to go."
His knees weakened, gripping his chest. This was too much.
Lu Yuan's Final Blow
Lu Yuan smirked, arms crossed. "Aw, don't be so dramatic. I just came to tell you—the banquet venue changed. We're holding it right here at Shrek Academy."
Yu Xiaogang's eyes widened, veins bulging. Blood surged and his vision blurred.
"You—"
Pfffhhh!
He spat out a great mouthful of blood.
"Too… Too much deception…" were his last rasped words before collapsing face-first.
