"Lu Yuan!"
Yu Luomian walked in stiffly, clutching two heavy jars of fine wine in his arms. He forced a smile, though his heart trembled.
The elders had all agreed he was the one to play lobbyist, to persuade Lu Yuan into leaving little Lu Xiaoyu in the sect for cultivation. The only way to approach the lunatic without being punched, they told him, was through wine.
After all, that brat drank enough to drown a dragon.
"Lu Yuan, come, drink with me."
Lu Yuan's head perked up at the word. He plucked a jar straight out of Yu Luomian's arms, popped the seal, and raised it high.
"Good!" Tons… Tons…
In a few gulps, nearly half the wine was gone.
Yu Luomian's eyelids twitched. Did this kid even taste it? Drinking like a starving donkey!
"Mm? Why aren't you drinking, old man?" Lu Yuan demanded, frowning. "Come for a drink and not drinking?!"
Under that glare, Yu Luomian's throat bobbed nervously. He raised the jar reluctantly and poured a scorching flood down his throat.
Guru… guru… His stomach churned. Heavens above, this is suicide.
Dangerous Negotiation
After choking down a few sips, Yu Luomian coughed and quickly blurted the true reason for coming.
"Lu Yuan… I came to talk business. About… little Xiaoyu."
Lu Yuan's expression darkened instantly.
Bam—!
His fist slammed the table, scattering peanuts across the floor.
"What?!"
Yu Luomian flinched. "Don't… don't be hasty! Listen first!"
Wiping cold sweat, he pressed on carefully. "When Xiao Yu was born… there was a dragon mark across his forehead. Do you know what that means? It's extraordinary, absolutely! Within dragon martial souls, our Blue Lightning Sect is more specialized even than the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. If he were to stay here—"
"I disagree!" Lu Yuan cut him off coldly. His grip on the jar tightened, wine dripping from his knuckles. "You bastards just want to use my son as your cultivation experiment, don't you?"
"Lu Yuan, wait—"
"Be careful, old man. Keep talking nonsense, and I'll knock your head in."
The threat glared sharp in Lu Yuan's eyes.
Yu Luomian's lips trembled. He instantly changed the subject, raising his own jar like a shield. "Heh… forget it, forget it. No need to argue. Let's… drink. Drink!"
He really couldn't beat this lunatic. Why bother dying here?
Knocked Out Lobbyist
Three jars later, Yu Luomian lay like collapsed mud across the table. His stomach sloshed, his head floated like a cloud.
"Ahhh… brother Lu Yuan… This is… the fifth jar. Can't drink anymore…" He slurred incoherently. "Go easy… brother, uncle, nephew… whoever you are…"
Lu Yuan rolled his eyes. "Useless fool."
Bang!
Yu Luomian slumped fully onto the ground, passed out.
"…Oi, did you fall asleep?" Lu Yuan shook his shoulder. Nothing. Not even a twitch.
He grinned wickedly.
Next Morning
"Urgh…"
Yu Luomian groaned as faint light seeped through his eyes. Every muscle ached. His head was splitting open like an iron hammer drummed it.
Slowly, like waking from hell, he came to his senses. Then…
"…???"
He wasn't on a bed.
He was hanging upside down from the ceiling beam, tied like a fat pig.
"Mmmhh!!"
Panic roared through him. Struggling, he tried to pour spirit power through his body—and paled in horror. Nothing moved. His strength was gone.
The realization hammered in. He drugged me again!
That bastard. That demon child!
He wasn't even an enemy elder—just a lobbyist! Why was his luck this cursed?!
Sect Leader's Visit
The door creaked open.
"Second brother?" Yu Yuanzhen walked in, frowning. "You still haven't returned—ah." His face went stiff as he looked up.
Yu Luomian waved upside-down weakly, voice cracking. "Sect Leader… help me down. My legs are numb!!"
Yu Yuanzhen sighed heavily. This was… too embarrassing.
Days Later
The Chamber of Deputies once again gathered elders. This time, Yu Luomian was furious beyond words.
"Sect Leader, what do we do about that bastard?!" he raged. "First ties me in a sack. Then drugs me. Then hangs me from the ceiling beam! I didn't get out of bed for two days—my guts felt like rivers! I'm no lobbyist, I'm a hostage!"
Yu Yuanzhen rubbed his forehead. Truthfully… he regretted it too. They had pushed too hard over the dragon mark and scared Lu Yuan off.
But what could they do?
A disciple entered, bowing, voice cautious. "Sect Leader… Lu Yuan has already left. He took Liu Erlong and the child away."
Silence.
Yu Yuanzhen exhaled slowly. He could hardly blame him. Anyone would be wary after seeing that kind of manipulation.
Yu Luomian ground his teeth until they nearly snapped. "Why didn't anyone stop him?!"
"Stop him? Do you think they could?" Yu Yuanzhen's tone was sharp. "Not even you could stop him."
Yu Luomian deflated. He had no comeback.
Heaven Dou City
Back at Lu Yuan's home, things were far from calm.
Liu Erlong lay on the bed, holding her baby in gentle arms, breastfeeding. Around her were… several very stunned young women.
"Big Brother… this kid is really yours?"
Ning Rongrong's eyes were round as temple bells, utterly incredulous. She had stormed in earlier and hadn't stopped staring since.
Behind her were Dugu Yan, Ye Lingling, and Zhu Zhuqing, each equally thunderstruck.
Not only did Lu Yuan have a child already, but the child's mother was none other than Liu Erlong—Dean of Shrek Academy, notorious for her volcanic temper.
And yet… Erlong, who had terrified students daily, was calmly smiling as she stroked her son's cheek.
It was too much.
"Of course he's mine!" Lu Yuan puffed out his chest proudly. He placed steady hands on their backs, nudging them closer. "Come on, don't just stare. Say hello to your little nephew."
The girls shuffled uncertainly.
"…He's cute," Zhu Zhuqing admitted softly.
"Looks like Big Brother," Ye Lingling said reluctantly.
"What's his name?" Ning Rongrong asked at last.
"Lu Xiaoyu," Erlong said gently. She looked up at them with a mother's serenity, and for the first time, none dared refute.
Unexpected Guests
"Brother Lu Yuan, are you here?"
A cluster of voices echoed outside the gate. Feng Xiaotian, Yu Tianxin, Huo Wushuang, and other boys from the Royal Fighting Team craned their necks inside nervously.
None had wanted to come, but Lu Yuan had sent for them directly. Could they dare refuse?
The group filed in—then froze instantly. Their jaws dropped.
On the bed, Liu Erlong herself lay proudly, holding a baby.
The violent Dean of Blue Tyrant Academy. Now mother of Lu Yuan's child.
Their minds blanked.
This… this was real!
Lu Yuan leaned back casually, grin wolfish. "Oh, you all came. Good. You'll be useful."
Feng Xiaotian's brain spun faster than a windmill. He was the first to bow. "Brother Lu Yuan, congratulations on—on your blessing!"
"Yes, congratulations!" Huo Wushuang echoed quickly. "We came in a rush, forgive us for not preparing gifts—"
Lu Yuan waved it off with disdain. "Bah, am I such a greedy man? Keep your money. What I need…"
With that, he slammed a thick stack of scarlet papers onto the table.
Invitations.
"My son Lu Xiaoyu's full moon arrives soon. Big banquet in Heaven Dou City," he announced proudly. "You brats will help me deliver these."
The group froze.
"…Deliver?"
"Oslo!" Lu Yuan barked. "You're quick-footed. Take this to the Seven Treasure Glazed Glass Sect!"
Oslo jolted. "…Yes?"
"Shi Jia brat, go to the Heaven Dou Royal Academy."
"Huo Wushuang, deliver this to Yuexuan."
Each name got called, each face paled. None dared refuse.
Finally, Lu Yuan slapped a last invite down. "Feng Xiaotian, you take this one."
Xiaotian blinked nervously, opening it. His face stiffened. "Shrek Academy…?"
His heart dropped. Of all places!
But under Lu Yuan's sharp grin, he nodded quickly. "I'll deliver it. I'll definitely deliver it!"
And so, in one shameless swoop, Lu Yuan's messengers were chosen. The Douluo Continent would soon know:
The banquet of Lu Xiaoyu's full moon had begun.
