Chapter 8 - Chapter Eight

"How long have you known my daughter?" her mother asked, breaking the silence as they ate dinner. Vincent's gaze shifted from her mother to Genesis. He noticed her eyes widened as she kept her gaze on her meal. "We've known each other for a few years." He replied. She studied him.

"She said you wanted to keep things secret." She went on.

"Yes, it was our decision; we wanted to be sure about what we wanted." He said as he kept his gaze on her. He wanted her, almost as much as he wanted to be chairman. He had prepared for this dinner like a child waiting for a Christmas present. So he could be close to her.

"And you want to marry my daughter?" she interrogated

"Yes." He replied as he downed the glass of wine he had picked specially for the meal, from the corner of his eyes, he saw Genesis do the same.

"You love my daughter?"

"She has a way of pulling me out of my cave, with her, love isn't just a word. It is a devotion. It is a religion. I wake up every day praying I don't lose faith. I yearn to be with her every single day. She is a part of me." He said, surprised by his confession. He could feel his cock harden as she looked at him in utter shock. Each time he looked her or think of her, his cock harden. The room fell silent. He could feel her eyes on him, adding to his frustration.

"You have my blessings." Her mother said finally, her eyes glistening. She turned to Genesis. "I'm happy for you, dear." She smiled at her.

Genesis looked up from her phone and sighed. The four-hour flight to Las Vegas didn't get her tired to her surprise. She had taken that time to go through various social media, to her surprise, they were the trending news. She looked out the window as the driver pulled through the busy streets. This was going to be her life now for a few months. Deep down, she liked it. She wasn't the girl who got noticed; she wasn't jealous of Chelsea, but some days she wished she had a little of the attention she got from others.

She knew she would have a hard time fitting in, but she was willing to do anything to give her mother the life she had promised her, and with Chelsea at her side, she could do it. Chelsea was somewhat part of this world, though she was from a middle-class family, her boyfriend was from the upper class.

She turned her gaze to Vincent, who had been switching from his phone to his laptop throughout the trip. She recalled what he had told her mother the night before. That had taken her aback for a moment, it had been too deep and personal for someone she had just met two days ago. Well, it worked in convincing her mother.

She wondered what would happen when their contract was over. Her mother will be heartbroken. She turned her gaze back to the window. She won't think about that for now. What if this was a bad idea? She questions herself. Her palms were now sweaty, her heart pounding against her chest.

She felt large palms wrap around hers, making her turn sharply. "A penny for your thoughts." His voice was deep, making her curl inwardly. Her gaze met his, making her heart skip a beat. His green, almond-shaped eyes bored into her, making her conscious of herself. She felt like he could see deep into her soul. She quickly averted her eyes as the intensity of his gaze overwhelmed her.

"You don't have to be worried, you can do this." He smiled at her, "Together we can." He tucked the loose strands of her hair behind her ear.

Did she think he wasn't able to do the task or what? He questioned himself as she talked with Henry. Just a bakery? He wanted to take care of her, spoil her in such a way no man could. He wants to raise her so high that no man could ever reach.

"Mr. Morales, are you in agreement with these terms?" Henry asked, jolting him away from his thoughts.

"She will be a beneficiary of my private accounts, she has access to all my properties, and her mother's treatment will be taken care of." He said without breaking eye contact with her. He noticed Henry's brows snap together in instant caution.

"but-"

"My wife shouldn't lack a thing." He sharply said before she could decline.

"Very well then," Henry said as he passed the file to them to sign. He found it strange at the level of trust Vincent had in this woman. He knew it was beyond the boundaries of business. This was something different, a part of Vincent he had seen only once when they were kids. He was worried. What if Vincent was trusting the wrong person? He had never doubted Vincent's judgment before but this the was .

He opened his mouth to say something but decided against it, so he forced a smile. "Can't wait to see you at the wedding." He said as he stretched his hand to the other side of the table to pick up the file.

Genesis sat quietly as the two friends talked. She didn't know how to react to him taking responsibility for everything. Her dream life was before her, but she was too afraid to take it. It was happening way too fast, she couldn't process it.

She listened to their conversation. Vincent and Henry were friends, she didn't have to guess. She had known from the moment they stepped into the room. she also discovered Henry had been married and was expecting his first child. This made her wonder why Vincent wasn't married.
