"DXD: Multiverse Journey"Chapter 234: Tohka and Origami's Sharp Tongues—Perfect Teamwork

With Kaguya and Yuzuru agreeing to the volleyball match, Shuo stepped up as referee.

Teams: Tohka and Origami versus the Yamai sisters.

"Let's get started!" Shuo called.

No sooner had the words left his mouth than Tohka unleashed her signature move—a wild, overpowered spike from the edge of the court.

WHAM!

The volleyball shot off like a cannonball, slicing straight through the net and burying itself deep in the sand.

Tohka turned, beaming. "Shuo, how many points for that?"

Shuo could only rub his forehead and sigh. "Uh… zero. You kinda broke the rules."

He realized, belatedly, that he'd never explained the rules to her.

After a crash course in volleyball basics, the game resumed.

Kaguya, still chuckling at Tohka's earlier "attack," tossed her hair.

"Heh, not bad. Guess I'll have to get serious too."

Yuzuru nodded, voice even.

"Affirmative. Yuzuru will give it her all."

Kaguya dug the ball out of the sand, tossed it up, and served with a flourish—aimed dead center.

Origami called out, calm and tactical.

"I'll take this one. Get ready to counter, Tohka."

Origami's reception was flawless. The moment she bumped the ball, Tohka launched herself skyward, all energy and excitement.

"Catch this!"

She slammed her palm into the ball, sending it rocketing toward the twins.

Kaguya and Yuzuru both lunged for the landing spot—only to collide mid-stride and tumble into the sand. The ball dropped in bounds, rolling to a stop right beside them.

"Ugh! Yuzuru, what are you doing? Stop getting in my way!"

"Objection. That should be my line. Please don't interfere with Yuzuru, Kaguya."

Both girls scrambled to their feet, hands pressed to foreheads, glaring daggers at each other.

Shuo grinned. "Nice spike, Tohka. That's a point."

"Really? Yes!" Tohka and Origami—rivals on any other day—shared a rare high-five.

Meanwhile, the twins were too busy bickering to notice.

"That was my territory! I missed it because of you!"

"Objection. Yuzuru feared Kaguya was too slow to react."

"Who are you calling slow?!"

"Confirmation: Kaguya. Any objections?"

"Argh!"

Shuo watched the squabble, barely hiding his amusement. Time for phase two.

Via telepathy, he reached out to Tohka and Origami, outlining the next step of his plan.

"Oh, I get it!"

"Understood."

Both nodded, then slipped into exaggerated arrogance, chins lifted as they looked down on the twins.

"Hmph, I thought you two were supposed to be legendary. Turns out you're just… pathetic."

"Honestly, this is disappointing. We shouldn't have bothered challenging you—there's zero competition here."

The court went silent. Kaguya and Yuzuru's eyes twitched, but they tried to ignore the provocation.

Seeing the twins weren't biting, Shuo sent another telepathic nudge:

"Tohka, go harder—really roast them. I'll cook you a luxury feast if you do."

"And Origami, make them mad and I'll grant you a wish. Anything you want."

Luxury feast.

A wish.

Motivation flared in their eyes.

Tohka didn't hold back.

"Kaguya's nothing but a coward, and Yuzuru's as dumb as a pig! Together, you're a pig-brained coward!"

Origami followed suit, voice icy.

"You two are useless. Maybe you should just crawl around and wallow together like proper losers."

Tohka snickered.

"Yeah, Children of the Hurricane? More like Children of the Stupid Pig!"

The insults, childish yet merciless, finally got a reaction. Kaguya and Yuzuru narrowed their eyes, their gazes sharp as blades.

The twins locked eyes.

"Yuzuru."

"Response: What is it?"

"Let's work together and crush them."

"Agreement. Crush them together."

Their rivalry set aside, the sisters moved as one.

Tohka jumped, unleashing another power spike.

"Yuzuru!"

"Response: Got it."

Yuzuru slid forward, perfect reception, sending the ball high. She dropped to one knee, hands cupped, and Kaguya sprinted over, stepping onto her hands as Yuzuru boosted her up.

Kaguya soared, spinning midair, and hammered the ball back with a flawless spike.

Counterattack: successful.

The twins, caught up in the rush, high-fived—genuine smiles breaking through. For a moment, all tension vanished.

"Ha! See what we can do?" Kaguya crowed.

"Joy: Yahoo!" Yuzuru replied.

"That was some teamwork, Yuzuru. You sent it flying!"

"Affirmative. A beautiful play—Kaguya's skill is impressive."

Kaguya blushed, grinning. "Heh, don't sell yourself short. It was all thanks to you…"

Suddenly, they realized they were still holding hands. Both recoiled instantly, faces red, noses in the air as they looked away.

"Hmph, you should be honored to be stepped on by me, peasant!" Kaguya huffed.

"Displeasure. My hands reek now—like rotten fish, natto, and herring all mixed together."

"What? My feet aren't that smelly!"

And just like that, the bickering resumed.

Tohka and Origami watched, stunned.

They'd just pulled off perfect teamwork—how did it devolve into squabbling so fast? Was the plan failing?

But Shuo only smiled, eyes twinkling as he watched the twins tease and taunt each other.

No, the plan was working perfectly. Time for the next move.
