Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Introductions in the Chat

[Subterra Gal: Oh, welcome back, Dio! Was starting to get worried about you, what kept you away so long?]

[Dio: I'll explain later. Since I'm here though, let me introduce myself properly since I had to leave. I'm Dio Vincenzo, 17 years old. I'm currently embroiled in a life and death 'game' known as the Holy Grail War. Humans summon Heroes from history, also called 'Servants' or 'Heroic Spirits' to do battle in one on one matches until there is a winner. The winner will be able to make a wish on the Holy Grail. 128 Participants over 7 rounds until only one remains.]

[Gambling Addict: Oh my! A battle with one's own very life... One could almost call it a gamble of the highest order! And you said you didn't gamble, Dio-kun!]

[Dio: I said I didn't gamble in the same ways you were probably thinking. My world isn't in a very good state at the moment, participating in this life and death game is the only shot I have at making my world potentially liveable.]

[Mecha Supremacy: I see... So, then, is your wish on the Grail to save your world? As expected of a Buddha.]

[Dio: I don't know if it's so much to save the world, so much as I want us to stop living in a stagnated world... But enough about me, would you be kind enough to introduce yourselves?]

[Subterra Gal: Oh, me first! I'm Julie Hayward, from what we've taken to calling a 'modern' Earth! In this world, people around my age came together after these cards fell from the sky to create a cool game called Bakugan! You can check out the store and see all the stuff I've uploaded! Oh, and I'm 16!]

Dio gently curled his fingers into Nobu's hair, making the demon king snuggle further into his embrace. Like he thought, Julie from Bakugan... However, based on the way she was talking, she should still be in Season 1 of Bakugan- however she was the same age she was in Gundalian Invaders instead of being 12.

In other words, it seemed like Julie had been aged up.

A member of the Battle Brawlers- those who would eventually become the six strongest battle brawlers of their era- and the one who befriended Subterra Gorem. As far as Subterra Brawlers went, she was considered an idol of admiration by everyone... Though that was also because of her incredible beauty and her upbeat personality.

[Gambling Addict: Oh, I'll go next! My name is Yumeko Jabami, 16! I wouldn't say there's anything particularly special or supernatural about my world unlike the rest of you, I simply love gambling~ Oh, but I'm planning to transfer to a school called Hyakkaou Private Academy soon. It seems to be a very interesting place~]

As he expected, Yumeko. A girl who couldn't be called ordinary by any means, inflicted with madness and a desire to Gamble- willing to gamble away even her own soul in the name of a thrilling game... A girl who's actions ended up ultimately causing her own sister to break into pieces.

And Yumeko? She felt guilty... Not for what she'd caused, but for the fact she didn't feel guilty about what she'd done at all.

For that girl, nothing in the world- not sex, not drugs, not alcohol- was more thrilling than the feeling of gambling. She didn't care what she lost as long as she could enjoy the gamble itself.

On top of that, the girl was from the Momobami family's branch known as the Jabami Family- who managed the Clan's gambling business... Though, that family has essentially been absorbed into the Tsuibami family as a result of the events of Yumeko's past that ultimately led to her sister being put in the hospital. Yumeko may carry the Jabami name, but the Tsuibami family was the one managing her family at the current point in time.

[Daughter of Darkness: I suppose I'll go next... My name is Shadowheart, a Cleric in what the others seem to insist on referring to as a 'Medieval' or 'Fantasy' world. As if the world I live in is a fantasy... Regardless, I'm a Cleric who lives in an enclave of people serving the same God. Please understand I'm very private about my worship, so don't ask for details.]

Shadowheart? Now, that was a surprise... Shadowheart was originally a Selunite Child, born into Selune's circle and family. However, during the tradition of children being left out in the wild and using the moon to guide them back home, Shadowheart was found by Shar's enclave. They captured Shadowheart's parents- in the form of wolves trying to help her- and used magic to steal away her memories, making her believe that the Mother Superior, the head of Shar's enclave, was the one who saved her life rather than stolen her away.

From then on, Shadowheart had dedicated everything to Shar- believing the falsities that led her astray. She came to despise Selune, unaware that the Goddess was waiting for her to remember and return to her rightful place.

So, that only left...

[Mecha Supremacy: That just leaves me. I'm Seekvaira Agares, 17- though my 18th Birthday is coming up soon. I'm the Heiress of the Agares House in the Underworld, and I also live in a 'modern' world. Ah, though obviously Devils aren't the evil creatures stories make them out to be in my world- what we do is more part time work and obtaining desires from humans to get stronger rather than taking their souls and such.]

Ah, the one I probably knew the least about among the girls in the chatroom. Seekvaira, much like Sona, was also Rias's childhood friend. But where Rias and Sona went to the human world, Seekvaira remained in the Underworld and focused on fulfilling her duties as heiress and training.

However, Seekvaira also had her own quirk as most other devils did. Her father's influence ended up turning her into a Mecha Fan. She wasn't just a fan; she was an outright otaku. She indulged in her hobby whenever the stress that came with her duties began to overwhelm her. Whenever she talks about mechas, she completely loses any of her calm demeanour and instead acted more excited and enthusiastic.

On top of that, Seekvaira also had a relation to Ajuka Beelzebub through Latia Astaroth. While it wasn't explicitly stated, it was known that Seekvaira and Latia were related- likely something along the line of cousins or second or third cousins. This meant that Seekvaira had some relationship to Ajuka since Ajuka was Latia's Uncle.

Dio would admit, this chat was quite the mish mash of characters... However, there was one small thing he had noticed about the characters in the chatroom besides him.

They had yet to begin their stories.

In other words, they had yet to begin 'canon' in their worlds- the start of the timeline followed in their worlds. Shadowheart had yet to receive the mission to retrieve the Astral Prism. Julie had yet to learn about talking Bakugan- she definitely would have mentioned Gorem if she had. Yumeko herself said she was planning to transfer to Hyakkaou. Seekvaira was a little harder to judge- however, she was the same age as Rias and Sona, and her being 17 meant the other two were only in their second year at Kuoh.

[Subterra Gal: By the way, how did you change your name like that?]

[Dio: There's a settings option in the system store to change your username.]

With that information delivered- and the girls no doubt planning to change their names- Dio opened up the store to upload Digital Deluge, only to see...

Style of the Formless Buddha - 20,000,000,000

A style without any solid foundation in any Martial Art, formed entirely on instinct, had bloomed thanks to only a single punch... And it was worth double what his Buddha Enlightenment cost.

And why was it so focused on making him a Buddha!? He knew damn well he was a pervert, why was it trying to convince everyone he was a Buddha!?

[Dio has uploaded Digital Deluge and obtained 5,000,000,000 Points!]

[Dio has uploaded Style of the Formless Buddha and obtained 20,000,000,000 Points!]

[Seekvaira: ... Big shot indeed... As expected of a Buddha, having so many powerful skills. Though, why does a Buddha have skills related to the internet?]

[Dio: I really don't think I deserve to be a Buddha; I reached enlightenment purely by accident. And like I said, I'm 17. You think I'm going to live with the internet? Sure, I can be a Buddha when I want- but I can't detach myself from Earth. There's way too much I care about to ever let it go.]

[Julie: Dio, could you send me some points pleeaase?~ I really want to learn some of Shadowheart and Seek's Magic!]

[Yumeko: Oh, me too! Teleporting sounds like so much fun!]

[Shadowheart: ... Well, if he's just handing out points...]

Dio rolled his eyes... These girls, really...

[Dio has sent out a Group Red Envelope.]

[Julie has claimed the Red Envelope and obtained 500,000 points!]

[Shadowheart has claimed the Red Envelope and obtained 300,000 Points!]

[Seekvaira has claimed the Red Envelope and obtained 800,000 points!]

[Yumeko has claimed the Red Envelope and obtained 400,000 Points!]

[Dio: Generous enough for you?]

[Julie: Very generous~ Thank you, Dio~ Mwah~]

[Yumeko: Thank you very much~]

Dio just softly shook his head, exasperated... It was clear that Julie and Yumeko were pretty much two peas in a pod, and both were incredibly shameless. He'd need to be careful so that he wouldn't give into them and spoil them too much- he may know them from their shows, but he didn't truly know them as people.

He would only take their shows and series as guidelines rather than absolutes- just like he was doing with his own world. After all, the fact they had the chatroom already meant their fates had been changed.

He debated on heading into the System store and buying a few uploaded skills but decided against it for the moment. He was pretty tired, and choosing and sorting which skills were worth buying just used far more brain power than he had at the moment.

Maybe he'd get the Bakugan so he and Nobu could have a fun game to play during down time in the war or something, he'd see eventually.

[Dio: So, have any quests popped up in the chat? According to the announcements, quests between worlds should happen from time to time, right?]

[Julie: Yep! That's right! Though there haven't been any yet, and I was the first one to get this chatroom, so I'd know! Though Seek has visited all our worlds before, I've only visited Seek's world. None of us besides Seek have visited Shadow's world because it's a bit too dangerous and we didn't have any magic or anything. But now that we have these points, we'll totally be more comfortable travelling to her world!]

[Dio: I don't recommend you visit my world, at least not until this death game is over. As you can see from my uploads, I'm very confident in my chances of winning- and my Servant isn't any pushover either.]

[Seekvaira: Servant... Yes, that's right. You mentioned that you summoned a Hero from history to aid you during the battles. Who did you summon? Heracles? King Arthur? Perhaps even Siddhartha himself?]

[Dio: I summoned the Demon King of the Sixth Heaven - Oda Nobunaga.]

Dio didn't hide it- he sent that message proudly. He was proud to have Nobu as his Servant. Even if they'd only known each other for a day, he felt the two of them got along very well.

[Yumeko: Oh my... The Demonic Warlord who conquered Japan? How impressive!]

[Seekvaira: Indeed... But I don't understand how such a person would be worth summoning, they were only human weren't they?]

[Dio: In my world, Heroes are affected by the dreams and wishes of mankind. They gather, bestowing power based on human imagination and legends. So, when you summon a Heroic Spirit, that may not even be how they truly were in life- but through the lens of how they are seen in human history. In the case of Oda Nobunaga, she is chaos incarnate. If she wants something, she takes it. If someone stands in her way, she cuts them down. There's no hesitation, be it friend or foe, she will storm through and attain everything she desires... The Demon King, Nobunaga.]

[Seekvaira: I see... How fascinating, such a Hero must be incredibly powerful, if that's the case.]

[Shadowheart: So, a human with the mindset of a Demon; even called the Demon King? She'd probably have a lot of fun in Avernus should she ever go there.]

[Julie: Wait a second... She? Oda Nobunaga is a girl??]

Dio grinned in slow amusement as Yumeko, Seekvaira, and Julie began to discuss that shocking revelation- all while the Demon King slept soundly in his arms.

He decided to leave them with that bombshell and bid them goodnight as he held Nobu tightly and closed his eyes.

Leaving chaos in his wake and dipping so he didn't have to deal with it... Nobu would be proud.
