Nora's meetings ended early but she was still delaying at the office, forcing herself to be busy, redoing things she had already done just to avoid the obvious question her mind wanted to ask so badly . But an hour and half later she just couldn't help it anymore.
"What did he mean by my engagement going public, surely her parents wouldn't do anything of that sort without telling her first right?"
" It wasn't even a real engagement right? She had not yet agreed to this or was she the only one who thought she was an adult?"
" No matter how estranged they were they wouldn't take that big step without her approval first right?"
" What did Leo know, I'm sure all this is a ploy to accept his proposal."
" But then how did he know about Knox?"
Her thoughts were interrupted by Anastasia. After two light knocks she let herself inside the office.
"Hey, are you alright?"
" I'm fine, why?"
" Since Mr Hot stopped by you've seemed out of it, you've been pacing around for minutes and for the past hour your fingers kept drumming on the desk. You don't get nervous easily, did anything happen?"
"You seem to know me so well, but I'm afraid your hunch is wrong this time, I'm good."
" Okay if you say so, your driver is still waiting downstairs."
" How long has he been there?"
"Since your last meeting ended."
"Why? I didn't call him."
" You didn't?"
"Yes."
"I'll ring him now and ask why he's here if you hadn't called."
"Please do."
After Anastasia left, Nora got confused.
Fester started driving her since she was a toddler going to daycare and since then through her teenage years up till then, he had never made a mistake in his schedule and had never been 3 minutes late. Why was he here uncalled.
Anastasia reappeared almost immediately.
" He says he would talk to you personally about it."
"What's this about?" Nora thought aloud while packing her bag.
3 minutes later, she was down from the elevator to the waiting car. Bag and file in hand she got in.
"Good evening ma'am."
"Good evening Fester, why are you here?"
" I got a call from your parents, they said to drive you to the company's boutique and tell you to get dressed for an important event this night and ...."
His words started sounding faint in her ears. One of the reasons she hated Leo so much was because he had never been wrong, all through their years together.
"What's the occasion" she finally said.
Fester looked down and she immediately understood.
"Sure, but I believe we still have 3 hours max. Drive me around, then we'll go back to the boutique."
" Yes ma'am."
"BECAUSE YOU NEED ME AS I DO YOU."
Leo's word ringed in her ears. The last time he had said that same thing she had beat him to his favorite computer game.
They were going to stay up all night that night and they had gone through 3 boxes of pizza. He had kept nagging about how it wasn't healthy for them yet he managed to go through all three with her eating more than her.
After the game they had been playing she had snuggled into him while he wrapped his arms around her.
" Do you feel that Mia cara?"
"What?"
" We complete each other, together we make sense, I need you as you do me."
" What makes you think I do?" she had teased.
"You don't?" he said with exaggerated and feigned horror.
" I don't ne..."
She didn't complete her sentence before his lips closed hers.
" You fool, why would you think about that now." Nora said aloud jolting herself back to the present and blinking rapidly to keep the tears that threatened to spill at bay.
" Did you say something?" Fester asked.
"Turn around, Let's go to the boutique."
Nora picked her phone and dialled the number she had tried to delete several times to no avail.
