*Chapter 34: A Shadowy Presence*
Mira's investigation led her to question the staff and other household members. She tried to gather information without arousing suspicion.
One of the maids, a timid girl named Sophia Mira never knew she even existed until now , seemed nervous when Mira approached her. "Do you know anything about the note?" Mira asked, her voice low.
Sophia hesitated, glancing around nervously. "I don't know what you're talking about," she whispered.
Mira's eyes locked onto Sophia's. "Please, if you know something, tell me. I need to know ."
Sophia's eyes darted around the room again. "Meet me in the garden at midnight. I'll tell you what I know."
Mira nodded, her heart racing with anticipation. She watched as Sophia scurried away, wondering what secrets the maid might reveal.
As the night wore on, Mira made her way to the garden, her senses on high alert. The moon cast eerie shadows on the walls as she waited for Sophia.
Suddenly, a figure emerged from the darkness. It was Sophia, her eyes wide with fear.
"What do you know?" Mira asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Sophia glanced around nervously. "I've seen Alexandra sneaking around at night. She's been meeting with someone in secret. I don't know who it is, but it can't be good."
Mira's mind whirled with possibilities. What was Alexandra hiding? And who was she meeting in secret?
As Sophia turned to leave, Mira caught a glimpse of a shadowy figure lurking behind the trees. Her heart skipped a beat. Who was watching her?...
