Chapter 2
I stir awake, the sun's rays harsh on my eyes. I sit up and look to my side Delilah is gone. 'Good I can be alone for a bit' I walk to the bathroom my shadow following behind but it's a bit off. As I enter the bathroom and close the door behind me that's when my shadow stretches out from the floor climbing up my body like a snake. It props its head on my shoulder "How sweet of you to read your dear sister a story." Ignoring him is the hard part. I turn around spining my body quick, punching right through him hut it down nothing all it does is let me get a good look at it disturbing appearance once more its glowing white smile its single white pupil but thats not the most disturbing part what has always set me off about his appearance is how its silhouette look identical to me. "What is it. What do you want?" I don't make it a given to hide my hostility I've always hated looking at it. "OH, nothing I've just wanted to talk about bit." He says with a humor in his voice. He dashes me towering over me as the room suddenly feels darker even with the sun shining light through the window "Why listen to your parents the things you could do-" I cut him off " because there my family I won't hurt them even if you hurt me. He looks at me his smile still wide making it hard to tell if I angered him but his next actions will tell me. He places his hand on his face and laughs "God you're too much. Alright I'll let you go, for now, but I'll be back." He slides back down to the ground attaching himself to my feet and taking the form of my shadow once again. I leave the restroom after washing up I can hear my mother humming a tune in the kitchen preparing breakfast "Good morning Mom" She doesn't turn to look at me but she does respond "Good morning Allen. Could you fetch your sister for me i need something from both of you, she should be in the yard." I feel a slight bit of worry from her needing us but it can't be bad "Alright I'll go find her" I leave the kitchen heading out the front door the sun burning me slightly. I look around the yard my eyes gazing around the fence that surrounds are front yard until my eyes meet Delilah as she picks flowers from the bush "Delilah!" I yell getting her attention "mother's asking for us" She gets up flowers in hand "What does she need" I shake my head "I don't know she just asked me to find you and that she needs us for something". We head inside and Delilah looks at the flowers smelling them "Do you think mother would like them" I look at her as I walk next to her all i can think to myself is 'suck up.' We make it to my mother she's still humming her tune. "Mother i brought Delilah what is that you needed from us" she stops humming for a moment "alright then. There's an ingredient im missing your father is out and I can't leave either i have things to take care of at home. So i want yall to go to the market and buy these ingredient ok." She hands me a paper with three ingredient written down. "And Allen if you do good I might think about removing your punishment" The words got to my ears fast I was excited "Really? I won't be grounded?" My mother nods and I hug her tight but today she felt cold. That cold feeling stuck out "mom are you feeling ok" she pauses she stops smiling for a moment "you noticed sorry but its the reason I can't leave im not feeling quite well" look at her still keeping a smile on her face made me a little sick, but my sister stepped up and handed her some flowers "I hope this makes you feel better mom" my sister hugs her as she runs to the front door "come on brother let's not disappoint mom." she yells me as she runs out the door "wait hold on ill be there." I pause as I start running turning to my mother "please take care mom" I dont see what she does or sais i just run out the front door catching up to my sister. We start walking throw the market I lift the paper look at teh ingredients "sis do you know where to find these ingredients" she looks at me and nods "of course I do" i stare with a stunned look on my face "how could you possible know" she doesn't respond just grabs my hand and has me follow her "just trust me." she sais with unwavering confidence. Minutes of us running around we find our selves into the slums "The hell? I thought you said you knew where to go!" She looks at me with a smile not one of joy but of someone who is trying their best not to drop their smile "I.. thought.." I smack the palm of my face into my hand "ah let's just find our way home" we turn around and at we do we see 3 people all uglier than the last "hey jack we got 2 kids here how much you think they would sell for" one of the thugs say with a slight giggle "I say they would get us some fine coins especially the girl" my sister holds my side tight scared. His words had angered me to a point I didn't know possible 'how dare he' 'who does he think he is' different words and voices whispered into my head. I grab my ears trying to silence them "Shut up" I mumbled. "Huh, what was that brat" one of the thugs approaches with a weapon in his hand. The voices only getting louder until one final sentence 'kill them.' When those final words struck I found it hard to contain myself as shadows shaped like people all with a distinctive glowing white smile started to pull themselves out of my body some full coming out to the world while some stayed half their body still stuck to me. They charged at the thugs one of them being grabbed by the leg "AHHHH! Hey wait guys help me!" he screamed but his friends wouldn't help they would turn and run hoping not to be caught. The humanoid shadows surrounded him as they prepared to rip him apart and a hand was placed on my shoulder and as that hand made contact a pressure like no other was placed on my body. My focus broke completely the shadows slithered their way back to me as I stood there for what felt like hours in fear. "What do you think your doing" a voice the one that belong to the hand spoke up I paused to scared to answer "ill ask one more time what do you think you-" before he finishes I heard a loud slap "Captain what the hell can't you see your scaring the poor thing" a woman's voice followed through that was the only time I dared to turn around. In front of me stood a man with long white hair and a thick beard with a woman who had brown hair put into a bun scolding him. The woman crouched down to my height "hey there sorry to scare you my name is Silva the guy next to me is Corgen what about you" I pause staring at her face its friendly enough to remind me of mother "im allen" she nods "and what about your sister." the words hit me I had forgotten about her during the commotion. I turn to see her she doesn't look scared more nervous. I run to her hugging her "I'm glad you're safe." She hugs me back. The realization hit me 'how did she know that Delilah was my sister' Delilah and I looks nothing alike she has milky brown hair and Carmel colored eyes I on the other hand have black hair and eyes. I turn to the woman more on guard "your probably thinking how do I know she's your sister arnt you" her words stund before she fixes her glasses grabbing the end of the and lifting them higher on her face with a cocky smile on her face "you see I have and ability just like you" the words surprised me I thought I was the only one but she has one too thoughts fluid my head 'how many are there' 'are there abilities like mine' 'where are they now'. Silva speaks up "You probably have a lot of questions I'm willing to sit down and answer them" I think about it. Having all my questions answered but I'm quickly reminded that there are more important things as the Sun gets darker "Sorry but I need to return home" It's disappointing but still I have to head home. Silva frowns "alright then I won't stop you" I grab my sister's hand and we look for are way home as Silva and Corgan begin to talk among each other "we need to follow them" Corgan says "his abilities were seen we have to make sure there safe." Me and my sister arrive home and we don't even enter the door before see two very angry parents "WERE HAVE YALL BEEN!?" my mother shouts "im sorry mom we were-" she cuts me off "if you wanted to go outside you should have asked why did you go so far?" I pause thinking to myself 'what does she mean' I speak up to my mother "but mom you said to go out and get ingredients for breakfast" my mother doesn't take long to respond "how could I have said that I wasn't home stop making up storys" my sister chips in "but mom you did you even gave us a list" my sister pulls out the list. My mother pauses and finally starts to have a concerned look on her face "Let's just head inside for now" We walk inside but we're instantly stripped by two strangers in armor. One of the points at me "he's the one" my instincts scream at me to run. I summon my shadows as they charge at them but the one pointing his finger extends his hand and I suddenly feel like I'm being pulled. I'm flying out of the house hitting the ground hard it i suddenly find it hard to breathe. The man starts approaching me removing the helmet from his head revealing a bald scared face "aren't you ugly" I scoff, he looks at me before pointing to the ground the weight that pushes on me is overwhelming "w.. what… THE HELL!" I summon my shadows once more but he just increase the weight 'is this it am I going to die' I stare at him as he removes his blade and hold it to my neck. I close my eyes thinking this is it until I hear a sound. I open my eyes to see him covered in cuts as If thrown in a blender he falls to the ground as two people emerge from behind me "you ok kid" a familiar female voice reaches my ears as she helps me up "Silva why are-" she answers fast cutting me off "we thought you might be in danger" she helps me up "what happened to him" she smiles "thats my captains ability" Corgan stand right next to her a unique crimson blade in his hand. I stand upright "There was two of the you, have to help there in there with.." I pause 'shit my family!' I run to the house I get just a couple of feet from it until it erupts into flames. I stand there in shock my mind black 'the could still be fine' i think to myself as I run twords the house but something suddenly grabs me I turn to see Corgan "what are you doing there still in there" he holds me tight I can't escape his grasp "kid pleas I know its hard but there's nothing we can do" I squirm and kick "no there fine we can still-" I cut myself off as I see to figures emerge from the fire "see i told you there fine." I free myself from his grasp, running closer to the figures and as I get closer there appearance becomes more, off. I stop in my tracks as I see them black like a shadow with a glowing white smile. "No" I mumbled to myself as they come closer hugging me and they repeated the words "I love you" to me "no, no, no, no. You can't. This isn't " black tears streamed down my face like oil. I hold onto them tight I try to utter words to them but it comes out as raspy gasp, they disappear into my shadow as I sit there and cry. Corgan approaches "kid I-" I cut him off standing up on my two feet I turn to him slamming my weak hands on his chest "you're going to tell me everything about those damn knights."
