Chapter 5 - These Days

"Help!" Laplace screamed. He was stuck to the ground and the witch kept walking closer.

Filled with fear, Laplace could do nothing but scream. "Demon! Where are you?! Help me!"

The witch was far as a hands reach now. She was the only thing alive in this dark void.

Erza's hands slowly covered Laplace's face, making him unable to speak or breathe. The hand slowly gripped tighter and tighter until the only thing Laplace could see was the red blood gushing from his eyes.

"Mmmmphh!!" Laplace attempted to yell as a last resort. Suddenly, his eyes could no longer see and his ears could no longer hear. It was pitch black, just like that day.

"Wake up brother!" Sapphire jumped on Laplace's bed and screamed in his ear, her voice mischievous and happy.

"What's going on..?" Laplace muttered with the little energy he had. He slowly opened his eyes, still being groggy and tired.

Sapphire grinned ear to ear and stood up from the bed, looking at Laplace. "It's time for the parade! The parade to celebrate you!"

"Celebrate me?" Laplace gave a confused look, slowly sitting upwards, somewhat annoyed at her persistence.

"Yes, to celebrate the retrieval of the lost prince." Sapphire said while dragging him off the bed by his foot. She had surprising strength.

Laplace has been getting little sleep lately. He now has dark eyebags and has not trained effectively lately.

It's been two weeks since that incident.. and I've been gettting nightmares every night since then. It pains my brain just to think at this point.

A maid entered the room showing no emotion and not daring to look at the prince eye to eye.

"Your highness. His majesty is calling you." Laplace had no reaction from the sudden voice and gave a weak thumbs up.

It's been two weeks and I still haven't gotten used to this mansion. I discover new parts of the house every day.

Laplace walked through the red and white hallways, swaying back and forth with each step.

The prince knocked on the door of the main room, which is where the king lived. Come to think of it, this is my first time meeting the king. He didn't even bother to talk to his long lost son till now.

"Father, may I come in?"

A low, but loud voice replied. "Yes you may."

Laplace opened the door, and walked close to the throne. He bowed his head, almost falling on to the ground.

"Why have you summoned me?"

"Can I not say hello to my long lost son?" The king said with a joking tone.

I guess he still some heart left in him. Laplace put on a fake grin and stood up.

The king has brown hair, a spiky beard, a fine mustache, and bronze skin. You could tell he was old but he looked younger than he is. With subtle wrinkles in his face and a deep, red scar in his hand, he matched the description of a king. He wore nothing but the fanciest clothing, made from the best material this continent could serve, with red and white clothing.

He sat on his throne like he knew he was in charge of everyone here. Behind him was a a woman with blonde hair, a light green but glowing dress, and golden heels. She wrapped her arms around the king's neck.

That's not the queen, is it? She should be sitting on the throne beside the king.

Just then, Laplace received a flashback from two weeks ago. Angels. That has to be one.

Laplace was stumped in thought. I can only see the king's angel, does that mean something? Again, Laplace remembered the words of the demon from two weeks ago.

So he can control his angel.. he must be stronger than anyone I've faced before. The witch did not have an angel, so she must be significantly weaker than father.

"How long are you going to stare at me?" The king said with an annoyed tone and a concerned look.

"Huh? Oh.. I have not been getting good sleep lately. My apologies, father." Laplace bowed his head once again and apologized.

"Guards, you can leave the room. My son and I have matters to discuss right now." The king commanded the guards to leave the room, ensuring full privacy.

What could be so important that the guards cannot hear? Is it something about the demon? Or the witch?
