Chapter 23 - Chapter 23 Possession

Without a moment to spare, we all left Kaede's village and set out on our journey, but part of me just wanted to go to the well, jump in, and never look back. However, I couldn't shake what the Sacred tree nor that Ominous Priestess said to me. "I have to know what they both mean..." I think as a Demonic Presence feels the air, causing me to stop in my tracks.

"Huh, what's that?" Kagome asks as she stops, causing everyone else to stop as well.

"A strong Demonic Aura," Songo answers as I hear Kirara begin to grow, causing me to place a hand on my sword.

"Huh?" Shippo sounds as he looks over to see Kirara transform.

"Be careful. The evil is drawing near." Miroku informs, causing Inuyasha to glance around.

"Where are you? Come on and show yourself." Inuyasha states, but I then look over to see something rustling.

"Inuyasha, behind!" I call out, causing everyone to look over.

"It's underground." Songo points out as it makes its way in front of us and pops up out of the ground with a loud shriek. The Centipede then spits a yellow liquid, causing Inuyasha and Miroku to jump out of the way.

"Yuck! What is that junk? It's melting the ground!" Shippo declares, causing me to look over at him.

"Most likely Belly Acid." I insist.

"Shippo, (Y/N)!" I hear Kagome's voice sound out, causing me to dive for Shippo.

"Whoa!" Shippo sounds out as I quickly roll away, barely missing the Centipede's advances.

"Are you okay?" I question as I get up with him in my arms, and he looks up at me.

"Yeah, Thanks (Y/N)," Shippo responds as Kagome, who was riding on Kirara, rushes over to us.

"Get on," Kagome instructs, causing us both to get on Kirara, who then moves away, avoiding another one of the Centipede's advances. "That thing's relentless..." I think as I then see Miroku holding up his staff.

"I'll stop it!" Miroku bellows as Songo rushes towards it as well.

"Take this, Hiraikotsu!" Songo shouts as Inuyasha unsheathes his sword.

"Aah!" Miroku screams, while smacking the Centipede in the head. Suddenly, the Centipede sounds out as a red Yara disperses from it. "What is that red aura?" I wonder as Inuyasha lifts his sword over his head.

"It's over!" Inuyasha proclaims.

"Hang on!" Kagome calls out, causing Inuyasha to stop before he uses his sword.

"Huh? What now?" Inuyasha asks as Songo stops right before she throws her weapon and spins in a circle. Once Miroku lands on the ground, he taps his staff on the ground.

"It can't fight anymore," Kagome answers as Kirara brings us to the ground, causing me to scoff.

"Wow, the Monks actually good for something," I whisper as the Centipede then falls backwards.

"Thanks for nothing. I was just about to slice and dice that thing!" Inuyasha bellows.

"Well, it's no loss. It hardly put up a fight." Shippo made known, causing Songo to sigh.

"It's disappointing when a Demon's appearance is so deceiving," Songo states, causing me to cross my arms. "I'd rather get a weak Demon compared to what we went through with Tsubaki." I think as Miroku turns to the Centipede.

"All's well that ends well, and that's what counts." Miroku declares, but we then begin to hear what sounds like people cheering.

"What's up with those guys?" Inuyasha questions, causing me to look over and see a bunch of Villagers gathered with bright smiles on their faces.

"Oh, we are forever indebted, itinerant Monk." A Villager walks over and bows to Miroku. "You wouldn't be if you knew what he was like..." I think, while rolling my eyes.

"You see, that Demon has been relentlessly tormenting our Village." The Villager adds, causing Inuyasha to put on a confused expression.

"That Demon has?" Inuyasha asks, causing Kagome to elbow him.

"Shh," Kagome answers.

"Hmm?" Inuyasha sounds.

"Oh, please let us repay your kindness with a small banquet in your honor." The villager requests. "Actual Food!" I think as my eyes light up, but Miroku then bows.

"I was merely carrying out my duty. I must decline, sir." Miroku addresses. "Never mind, looks like we're sleeping outside, eating whatever we can find like usual." I think, letting out a sigh.

"How disappointing. What a shame. How will I explain this to the beautiful young girls of the Village, who eagerly await you?" The Villager questions as he turns away from Miroku.

"Huh?" Miroku sounds out, looking up with wide eyes.

"Oh well." The Villager says as he goes to walk away.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa." Miroku sounds out as he rushes in front of the Villager and bows again.

"Then again, I wouldn't want to be punished by the Gods for rejecting your kindness." Miroku's assertion causes me to glare over at him.

"Huh?" The Villager sounds.

"Funny how the mention of young girls can change his mind." Shippo points ou,t and I nod.

"Yeah, the Gods are already going to punish that pervert," I assure.

"He's such a lecherous Monk." Songo remarks.

(Time Skip)

Trying to ignore Songo's growing furry beside me, I was enjoying the food that was prepared for us.

"These beans are delicious." Kagome's compliments caused me to nod.

"You can say that again," I add as I keep myself from looking beside me.

"It's so yummy! They're great! It's been a while since we've had such great food." Shippo made known, and I nod.

"Beats fried fish and barriers." I insist, causing Shippo to look over.

"What's the matter, Songo? You haven't touched your food." Shippo points out, causing me to turn to him with my pointer finger to my mouth. "Please, just leave it alone, Shippo!" I think with a pleading expression, causing me to glance over to see Songo ignore Shippo, while watching Miroku talking with a girl.

"You're palm says that you will be blessed with many offspring," Miroku informs. "I thought you were a Monk, not a Fortune-Teller..." I think as I roll my eyes.

"My dear. Would you consider bearing my children?" Miroku asks, causing my eyes to widen as the old woman pushes the girl aside and grabs Miroku's hands.

"Oh, yes!" The old lady answers, causing Miroku to put on a scared expression, as I quickly place my hand to my mouth, holding back my laughter.

"I'll have as many as you want. 15 or 16, you choose the number. Let's get to it." The old lady insists as she goes to drag him away. "Maybe it'll teach him a lesson." I think as a slight chuckle escapes my lips, while Miroku looks back at Songo.

"Help, Songo. Don't just sit there and watch! Do something!" Miroku pleads, but she turns away.

"Hmm. You finally found someone willing and able. You have my blessings." Songo jibes.

"Now, that's a cold shoulder." Kagome addresses.

"That's what he gets for being such a lecherous Monk," I assure as we watch him being dragged away by the little old lady.

"I didn't know they had family reunions in this era. Makes me all warm and fuzzy." Kagome asserted, causing me to stop eating and look down at the floor.

"What's a family Union?" Inuyasha questions.

"Hmm? It's what parents, Grandparents, and siblings all get together to each and enjoy each other's company." Kagome responds, causing me to stand up, while still looking down.

"I think I'll turn in..." I trail off, but before anyone can stop me, I head to the room the headman assigned us. "I'll never be able to do that kind of stuff with them again." I think as I lay on the futon bed that was already laid out.

(To Naraku)

(Naraku's POV)

I watched through Kanna's mirror to see (Y/N) bawling into a pillow, which made something inside me yearn. "Yearn for what? Destroying the very thing that caused her grief, or instead see that face for myself?" I wonder, but I then shake my head and hold my hand up.

"Leave me, Kanna," I demand, causing her to get up and leave the room. "No, I mustn't think about that human any longer." I think as I stare down at my hand.

"If I can't kill... I must expel the desire!" I proclaim, while balling my hand into a fist.

(To (Y/N) )

( (Y/N)'s POV)

Hearing a couple of loud banging noises, I quickly sat up and looked around to see that Songo was gone, but Kirara was still there. "What the hell is going on?" I wonder as I begin to get up.

"Aw, come on! Don't tell me you're still angry about earlier!" Miroku's voice rang out, causing me to walk over and slide the door open to see Songo trying to hit Miroku with her Hiraikotsu. "Damn, he must have really done it this time..." I think as I let out a yawn, while Songo swings her weapon at him two times, but he dodges them.

"The old woman was just joking!" Miroku proclaims, and I then hear a door slide open, causing me to look over to see Inuyasha.

"Oh man. What's all this ruckus about out here?" Inuyasha asks as he then looks over at me, while another screen door opens up to reveal Kagome and Shippo.

"I guess Miroku pissed her off," I answer as I glance over to still see Songo running after him.

"Sango, you don't have to be so angry! Come on, I'm telling the truth!" Miroku bellows as he dodges her advance once again, but only to come to a wall behind him. Looking away from Miroku, I see Songo look as if she's in a daze, while breathing shallowly. "Wait, something's not right here." I think with a confused expression.

"She's attacking me in her sleep." Miroku made known as I then heard a yawn.

"Can't you two keep your little squabbles a bit quieter?" Shippo's questions cause him and Kagome to walk back into their room.

"Wait!" Miroku bellows, causing Kagome to turn back to him, and Inuyasha groans.

"Something's off." I address, causing Miroku to nod.

"Sango is possessed by something!" Miroku shouts, causing my eyes to widen as Songo brings her weapon up once again.

"Sango, wake up!" Kagome calls out, causing Inuyasha to rush over to her as she was closing in on Miroku.

"Stop it, Sango!" Inuyasha declares as he grabs her weapon, causing Sango to fall into Miroku's arms.

"Sango! Are you alright?" Miroku questions as he then strokes her rear. Suddenly, a loud slap sound rings out, causing me to scoff as I see Songo's hand on Miroku's face.

"Next time, how about we let her kick his ass..." I trail off as I see Songo raises with a confused expression.

"What's going on? What am I doing here?" Songo asks as she then brings her hand away from Miroku's face.

"What happened to you, Miroku?" Songo's questions, caused me to chuckle.

"Wow. She ever slaps him in her sleep." Shippo responds.

"Someone bewitched Sango right under our noses," Miroku states, putting on a serious expression. "I can't take him seriously with that bright red handprint on his face." I think, trying to hold in my laughter.

"Uh, I don't remember a thing." Songo declares with a worried expression.

"That's strange. Who would do that to her, though?" Kagome asks.

"I don't have a clue, but I don't sense any evil around this place," Inuyasha answers, but then something slightly peeks out from Miroku's kimono.

"Are you certain?" The creature questions, causing a chill to run up my spine. "What is that?" I ask as I stare at the tiny creature.

"Myoga, when did you jump on Miroku?" Inuyasha asks with an angry expression.

"Are you sure you don't sense anything suspicious?" Myoga questions as he looks around, causing Inuyasha to narrow his eyes at him.

"Are you hiding something from us?" Inuyasha asks, causing the creature to look away from him.

"I, uh, not especially, no." The creature answers, causing me to move closer to Kagome.

"What is that thing?" I ask in a whisper, causing Kagome to put on an awkward smile.

"That is Myoga, the Flea Demon who apparently served Inuyasha's Father." Kagome's answer. "A Flea Demon?!" I wonder as another chill runs up my spine.

"Hmm. Wait a minute. A long time ago, my Father told me about Demons who only realize their true power after death. " Songo informs, causing us all to look over at her.

"They're powerful after death?" Kagome's questions, caused me to put on an annoyed expression.

"Well, that's just annoying," I whisper.

"The most recent Demon we destroyed was..." Miroku trails off, but then gasps.

"Huh, you mean that giant Centipede that was so weak is what possessed Sango?" Inuyasha asks as he turns to us.

"You'd better seal its powers up one more time, just in case," Kagome answered, but I then began to hear whimpering, which caused me to look over at the Flea Demon, who was looking around as if Paranoid. "My guts telling me he knows something..." I think as I glare at Myoga, causing him to jump off Miroku and over to Kirara.

"Hey, what's the matter with you, Myoga?" Shippo questions.

"Nothing," Myoga responds as he jumps onto Kirara's tail.

"Nothing at all!" Myoga proclaims as he disappears into Kirara's fur.

"I don't trust him..." I trail off

(Time Skip)

Once we all were changed and gathered our belongings, we all headed to where we buried the Centipede, and Miroku, along with Inuyasha, began to unbury it.

"It's just a carcass," Miroku states.

"Well, nothing suspicious about it." Inuyasha points out.

"I think I'd better seal it with another Sutra. Just to be on the safe side." Miroku declared as I stared down at the Flea Demon, who was reading Kagome's palm.

"Kagome, you don't have any luck with men." Myoga made known as he looked up at her.

"Oh, I don't?" Kagome asks.

"You won't find peace or happiness unless you leave your current man," Myoga answers, causing Kagome to put on a confused expression. "Wow, he's over here, talking shit about Inuyasha." I think with a chuckle, but Myoga then turns to me.

"Oh, no, thank you." I insist, causing Myoga to turn to Songo. "I already know I have terrible luck." I think, letting out a sigh.

"What about you, Sango?" Myoga questions as he jumps over to her hand.

"Let's see," Myoga adds as he pulls back the cloth wrapped on it.

"Your luck with men is no better. You'd best forget about him. He's too much of a womanizer." Myoga informs. "He's obviously talking about Miroku." I think with a chuckle.

"You're palm reading is right on the mark, Myoga." Songo agrees.

"You really think so?" Kagome asks, but I then look over to see Miroku staring at us.

"You okay, womanizer?" I question, but he doesn't respond.

"Are you guys done burying the Demon already?" Shippo asks, but I then hear growling, causing me to see Kirara glaring at Miroku. "Something isn't right here..." I think as I glance back up at Miroku, I see he has a dazed expression.

"No, we're not finished yet. Get up here and help, Miroku!" Inuyasha calls out, but Miroku's expression suddenly changes as he lifts his staff.

"I won't forgive you for this!" Miroku proclaims as he goes to hit us with his staff, but we all dodge.

"What?" Inuyasha questions as Miroku races after Songo.

"What are you doing- Is this some sort of payback?!" Songo exclaims as he continues his advances towards Songo, who is dodging everyone.

"You have finally revealed your true self, you lecherous Monk!" Inuyasha bellows as he rushes towards them.

"I didn't really think you were that type of man, Miroku. I was wrong about you." Songo declares, while still dodging Miroku.

"And I was right all along," Inuyasha adds, but I shake my head. "No, he's got to be possessed." I think as we take off after them.

"I think you're both wrong. The spirit of the Centipede must have possessed Miroku this time!" Kagome calls out, and I nod.

"That's not possible. It would take a lot of power to possess Miroku, and I don't sense that." Inuyasha counters, causing me to scoff.

"Well, your instincts are completely wrong, snap out of it, you lecherous Monk!" I re-counter, but he then goes to hit Songo and Kirara, but they both dodge.

"Hide, Shippo! You must run to safety!" Myoga warns as he jumps onto Shippo from Kirara.

"I figured that much out." Shippo insists as both Kirara and he dodge Miroku's advance.

"You won't escape, you wretch! Miroku curses as he rushes after them.

"What's going on here?" Songo asks, but then Miroku trips and falls to the ground.

"Uh, this body is inadequate, if even that young child can outrun me." Miroku, whose voice sounds weird, declares.

"What happened to your voice? Why are you talking like that?!" Inuyasha exclaims.

"See? I told you he was possessed." Kagome addresses as I walk over to Miroku.

"Why, you-"

"Snap out of it, you perverted Monk!" I demand, while interrupting Miroku, I slam my fist onto his head. Suddenly, I see something small rush off his body, causing me to put on a confused expression, while Miroku lifts off the ground. "Something weird is definitely going on." I think as I look around, but I couldn't see anything.

"What on earth happened to me?" Miroku questions.

"Hey, Miroku. Have you returned to the old you again?" Kagome asks, causing Miroku to bring his hands down.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Miroku answers as he gropes Kagome.

"Don't touch my cousin, you scoundrel!" I shout as I punch Miroku once more.

"There's your answer! He has definitely returned to his old self, Inuyasha!" Kagome proclaims with an angry expression.

"Yep, that's for sure," Inuyasha assures, causing Miroku to chuckle. "Nasty creeper..." I think, but then feel an evil Demonic Aura causing both Inuyasha and me to turn towards the direction we feel it in.

"There's something evil coming this way." Inuyasha points out, but I then look over to see something behind Songo.

"Songo!" I call out as another Centipede comes out of the ground, causing her to turn to it.

"What is that?" Miroku questions.

"Do you think it could be the other Centipede's mate?" Kagome asks.

"Maybe this is the one that possessed us," Songo answers as the Centipede shoots acid towards her, but Songo dodges it.

"Pain in the ass Demons," I remark as the Centipede spits acid towards us, causing all of us to dodge.

"Be careful! That stuff's acid!" Miroku proclaims as I look over to see Inuyasha setting Kagome down, causing me to let out a sigh. "Good, she's safe." I think as Inuyasha draws his blade.

"Take this! Wind Scar!" Inuyasha shouts as he brings his sword down to the ground, blasting the Demon, which makes it shriek. While half of its body was blown away, the other fell to the ground. "I honestly don't know what it is, but I don't think it's the Centipedes that are possessing us... It's something else." I think, as Inuyasha sheaths his sword.

"That's the end of another troublesome Centipede," Songo states.

"Looks like I'd better seal up its powers." Miroku asserted as he pulled out a Sutra. Walking over to the Demon, Miroku then sets the Sutra down on it.

"This puts an end to this affair." Miroku declares, and Inuyasha lets out a sigh. Suddenly, Inuyasha looks down and begins laughing, causing a chill to run down my spine.

"What's his problem?" Kagome asks as everyone looks over at Inuyasha, who was laughing Manically. "Yep, this is starting to get old..." I think, letting out a sigh.

"Inuyasha?" Miroku questions, but then he turns his attention to Kirara and Shippo. Beginning to bounce, Inuyasha jumps towards them, causing me to put a hand to my mouth, trying to keep myself from laughing.

"Come back here! You'll never escape me!" Inuyasha shouts, causing me to shake my head. "Don't laugh, you can't laugh." I think as I look over at Kagome.

"Don't tell me he's possessed now." Kagome made known.

"Watch how he's running. He kind of looks like a Flea." Songo specifies causing the laughter to go away, and I put on a confused expression.

"Like a Flea?" Kagome asks. "Maybe, what I saw rush off Miroku was a Flea Demon..." I think with a concerned expression.

"I'll get you!" Inuyasha proclaims, still chasing after Kirara and Shippo.

"What's going on? Now Inuyasha's gone crazy." Shippo points out.

"I'm coming, Myoga!" Inuyasha calls out, causing Shippo to look back at him.

"Inuyasha's calling you," Shippo informs.

"That's not master Inuyasha." Myoga insists as he pops out from Shippo's hair.

"You'll never get away from me!" Inuyasha bellows as he jumps in front of Kirara, who immediately stops, causing Shippo to fly off and over to Inuyasha. Starring down at Shippo with his arms folded, Inuyasha was wearing a serious expression.

"Is that you, Inuyasha?" Shippo asks, causing Inuyasha to put his hand on his shoulder.

"Don't think that you can escape from me, you naughty little rascal. I'm all yours for the taking, my sweet foxy darling." Inuyasha answers as he pushes his kimono off his shoulder and slowly bends down to Shippo. "What crazy fanfiction did I stumble into?" I wonder as I begin making my way over to them.

"(Y/N)?" Kagome questions, but I shake my head.

"We gotta go save poor Shippo!" I respond.

"Inuyasha, snap out of it!" Shippo pleads, causing Inuyasha to go closer to him.

"We're meant for each other," Inuyasha assures, causing Shippo to squeak while scooting backwards.

"What about my dreams of falling in love with a woman, not a possessed male Half-Demon?" Shippo asks as Inuyasha grabs him with a smile.

"Enough, Dog-Boy!" I shouted as we were almost to them.

"Inuyasha, sit boy!" Kagome's demand caused him to fall hard onto the ground.

"Shippo, are you okay?" I question, but Inuyasha glares over at us.

"What did you do that for, Kagome?" Inuyasha asks, and I scoff.

"Thank goodness. You're back to normal again." Kagome answers, causing him to turn away from us.

"Did I do something wrong?" Inuyasha questions. "Whatever possessed you tried to seduce poor Shippo." I think, letting out a sigh.

"Would you get off me, you rebid dog?!" Shippo exclaims, while thrashing around, causing Inuyasha to put a hand on his head.

"Inuyasha, what do you have there in your hand?" Miroku asks, moving Inuyasha's attention to it as he sits up.

"Let go of Shippo, Dog-boy." I insist as I grab Shippo, who lets out a sigh from Inuyasha's grip.

"Please release me!" Myoga's voice rings out, causing me to look over and see he was in Inuyasha's hand.

"It's Myoga!" Everyone choruses.

"Let me go, Master Inuyasha. I beg you!" Myoga pleads.

"(Y/N), it's a Flea- an unfamiliar Flea!" Shippo bellows, causing me to look over and see it come up onto Inuyasha's hand.

"He's right," Kagome states.

"It came out of Inuyasha's body." Shippo declares. "So I did see another Flea come off of Miroku..." I think as we all stare at the new Flea.

"I'll never ask another favor. Just let me go!" Myoga demands as the Flea walks over to him.

"Myoga, this is the end of the line for you. I'm telling you, you cannot get away this time." The other Flea specifies, causing everyone to look at her with confused expressions.

"Uh, excuse me. Who are you?" Kagome asks, causing the Flea to turn to them.

"Oh, dear. How rude of me. My name is Shoga, and according to our parents' wishes, Myoga and I are betrothed to be wed." Shoga answers with a smile.

"Not true, not true!" Myoga bellows as he continues to freak out.

"You be quiet!" Shoga instructs. "So this is all Myoga's fault... I kinda figured." I think letting out a heavy sigh.

"Yes'm." Myoga gives up.

"Hmm? Old lady Shoga?" Inuyasha questions, causing Kagome to elbow him again.

"Don't call her old," Kagome answers.

"No insult taken. When a Flea reaches my age, she wants to settle down and have a family, but you know my Myoga here. He's always been such a womanizer. Whenever there's a handsome woman around. He steals out to flirt with her, without a word of apology to me... And never leaves a clue to track him down, and I'm left helpless to await his return. This time I hunted him down, swearing to lug him back home even if I needed to use a little force." Shoga explains as she grabs Myoga again, causing him to freak out.

"Scary." Songo and Miroku chorus, and I chuckle. "Sounds a bit like someone I know." I think as I glance over at Miroku and then to Songo.

"The dream is over! Myoga, are you prepared?!" Shoga exclaims.

"No. Help! Release me, Master Inuyasha!" Myoga pleads, causing Inuyasha to grab Myoga with both hands.

"No can do." Inuyasha declares.

"Why? Tell me why!" Myoga demands.

"You knew that old lady Shoga was the one who bewitched us all along, Myoga." Inuyasha points out, and I nod, causing everyone to glare at him.

"Please! Surely you wouldn't rob an innocent fellow of his precious youth." Myoga addresses.

"Precious youth, my feet! I'll strap you to my back if that's what it takes to get you home!" Shoga proclaims.

"Good plan." Inuyasha compliments.

"Now, now, old lady Shoga, I think you should forgive him." Miroku points out

"Hmm?" Inuyasha sounds.

"Yeah. He's right. Instead of taking Myoga's freedom away from him, why not stay here and get married?" Kagome asks, and I smile.

"Good thinking, Kagome," I answer, causing both the Flea's to explode.

"Get married?!" Shoga exclaims with a bright red face.

"And then you can start a home together. She's embarrassed." Shippo adds with a begin grin.

"A female's still a female, even if she's a Flea." Songo assures.

"We can even ask the headman of the Village to be the go-between." Kagome asserts.

"There's no need for the headman! Please! Please!" Myoga pleads causing me to roll my eyes.

"Myoga doesn't seem pleased about this." Inuyasha points out.

"He'll just have to resign himself." Miroku remarks.

"You will make a fine coupled of Fleas." Songo jibes. "You guys are a little scary if you ask me..." I think as I look over at Myoga, who has tears raining from his eyes.

"Kill me now." Myoga pleads causing me to sigh. "Well, I guess you should have told them from the beginning ad you wouldn't have to resign yourself for marriage." I think looking away from them.

(Time skip)

We were back at the Village in a house and as Kirara walked in with Shoga and Myoga on her head we begin to clap, but then a scream sounded out causing us to stop clapping.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Inuyasha asks as he rushes over to Kirara with Kagome.

"Did something happen?" Kagome questions. "He probably fled..." I think as Miroku rushes over.

"Shoga?" Miroku asks as Songo gets beside him.

"What's the matter?" Songo questions to Shoga, who has tears in her eyes.

"This isn't Myoga. He switched places with some strange Flea."Shoga responds causing Inuyasha to stand up.

"That Myoga- he ran away!" Inuyasha proclaims and I slightly nod. "I figured as much." I think as I then glance out the door to see a cat, but in then screeches.

"Why, that old Geezer! Get back here! Yu won't get away with this!" Shoga calls out as she rushes after the cat I just saw.

"When it comes to fleeing, Myoga is definitely the best." Shippo points out causing everyone to sigh.
