Chapter 22 - Sack and Balls

Luffy casually reached into the air like he was grabbing fruit from a low branch and pulled two more blades from the shop's racks—both humming with menace, he could feel with his basic observation haki. One was a sleek, black-sheathed katana with a subtle red line along the edge; the other was longer, heavier, with a faint purple sheen that screamed "bad idea to touch."

He tossed the black one to Zoro.

"Here. It's a strong one. Use it."

Zoro caught it mid-air, drew it halfway—steel singing—and nodded once. "Good balance. Sharp enough."

Luffy kept the purple one for himself, twirling it once like a toy before sheathing it at his hip.

"Gonna use this sometimes. Looks fun."

He bent down, picked up Tashigi's dropped sword—Shigure—and slid it gently back into her scabbard while she thrashed and muffled-yelled against the gag. Then he patted her ass through the Marine uniform like she was a good horse.

"Stay quiet, naggy girl. We're kidnapping you."

Zoro hoisted her back over his shoulder—sack-of-potatoes style. Tashigi kicked wildly, skirt riding up, panties flashing white cotton to the street. Zoro didn't even flinch—just adjusted her weight and started walking.

They strolled out of the shop like they hadn't just murdered the owner and kidnapped a Marine officer in broad daylight.

Two streets later they ran straight into Nami's shopping group.

Nami—arms full of dress bags—froze. Nojiko had spices and cooking tools piled high. Usopp looked like a walking tent of shopping sacks, knees buckling.

Nami pointed at the squirming Marine girl over Zoro's shoulder.

"Who the hell is that?"

Luffy grinned wide.

"Me and Zoro kidnapped her! She's naggy. Let's leave quick before more Marines show up."

Nami blinked once—then shrugged.

"Fine. Move!"

They broke into a jog—Usopp wheezing under the load, Nami snapping at him every time a bag slipped.

"Drop anything and you're dead, chore boy!"

Usopp whimpered. "I'm trying—!"

They rounded a corner—and nearly collided with Captain Smoker.

The white-haired Marine stood in full patrol gear—two jutte crossed on his back, smoke already curling from his cigars, eyes narrowing the second he saw Luffy's straw hat. Someone he saw on a new bounty poster.

Then his gaze dropped to the bound, gagged, skirt-flipped-up Marine girl over Zoro's shoulder.

Tashigi.

Smoker's face went from calm to volcanic in half a heartbeat.

"MONKEY D. LUFFY!"

His voice cracked the street air like thunder.

"LET GO OF TASHIGI RIGHT NOW, YOU FILTHY PIRATE SCUM!"

Luffy blinked.

"Oh. A smoking guy."

DING!

[Quest: Crush Smoker's Balls]

[Objective: Defeat smoker and crush his balls]

[Reward: Intermediate Observation Haki – very long range, better observation, more accurate movement prediction.]

-

Smoker's entire body billowed white smoke—logia form ready to phase.

"You're all under arrest! Release her or I'll—"

Luffy cut him off.

"Everyone—run to the coast! Quick!"

Nami grabbed Nojiko's wrist. "MOVE!"

Usopp squealed—bags bouncing—as he sprinted after them.

Zoro shifted Tashigi higher on his shoulder—her muffled protests vibrating against his back—and broke into a loping run, swords already half-drawn.

Marines poured from side streets—rifles up, swords out.

"Capture them! Don't let them escape!"

Zoro didn't even break stride.

Oni Giri.

Three blades flashed—Marines fell in neat, bloodless chunks. He wasn't in the mood for mess. He kept running—carrying Tashigi like luggage—slicing anyone who got too close.

Smoker roared—body turning to smoke—lunging forward.

Luffy spun on his heel.

"Gum-Gum Rocket!"

Fist rocketed straight through Smoker's smoke form.

Nothing.

Smoker reformed—smirking arrogantly.

"Fool. Lowlife pirates like you don't know true power. I have logia devil fruit ability. You can't touch me—"

Luffy's grin turned sharp.

He clenched his fist—black armament coating rippling up his arm like oil on water.

Smoker's smirk faltered.

Luffy lunged—arm stretching back—then snapped forward at impossible speed.

Armament-coated Gum-Gum Pistol.

Fist met Smoker's face with a sound like a cannonball hitting wet meat.

Teeth exploded outward. Nose flattened. Smoker's head snapped back—body flying through three market stalls before cratering into a stone wall.

Half his teeth gone. Jaw hanging crooked. Eyes wide with shock.

Luffy landed lightly, shaking out his fist.

"Looks like logia is useless against Haki, smoke guy."

Smoker coughed blood—trying to reform—but Luffy was already on him.

Gum-Gum Gatling.

Black-coated fists blurred—hundreds of punches in seconds. Each one landed solid—cracking ribs, rupturing organs, turning Smoker's torso into a bruised, bloody mess.

Smoker wheezed—smoke flickering weakly.

Luffy stepped back—lifted one sandal-clad foot—coated it black—and stomped straight down on Smoker's balls.

CRUNCH.

A high, strangled scream tore from the Marine captain's throat as his testicles flattened like overripe fruit under Luffy's heel.

Smoker folded in half—hands clutching his groin—tears streaming down his face.

Luffy tilted his head.

"Arrogant guys always talk too much."

DING!

[Quest: Crush Smoker's Balls – Completed]

[Reward: Intermediate Observation Haki – very long range, better observation, more accurate movement prediction.]

Luffy whooped.

"New Haki level! Nice!"

Zoro—still running with Tashigi over his shoulder—suddenly veered left into a dead-end alley.

Nami yanked him back by the collar.

"Wrong way, idiot!"

Zoro grunted. "I knew that."

Marines chased—rifles cracking, swords drawn. Zoro sliced through them without breaking stride—bodies falling in pieces while Tashigi bounced helplessly, muffled screams vibrating against his back.

Usopp lagged behind—bags slipping—until a Marine blade slashed across his ass.

"OW—MY BUTT!"

He screamed—nose shooting out another inch—and ran faster, tears streaming.

Luffy caught up—spun—unleashed another black-coated Gum-Gum Bazooka that sent a dozen Marines flying like bowling pins.

Then the wind shifted.

A green cloak billowed across the street—tall figure stepping between Luffy and the groaning Smoker.

Dragon.

"Son."

Luffy tilted his head.

"Who?"

Dragon's eyes narrowed—wind whipping his cloak.

"You've gone too far—"

"Who're you, green robed guy?"

Dragon's voice was low, steady, carrying over the chaos of fleeing civilians and groaning Marines.

"I'm your father, Luffy."

Silence for half a heartbeat.

Then Luffy laughed—bright, loud, zero hesitation.

"Shishishi! No you're not! Gramps never told me I had a dad. You're lying!"

Dragon exhaled through his nose—long-suffering, almost fond in a twisted way.

"I left when you were young. My father Garp raised you. But I am your father."

Luffy crossed his arms, pout forming.

"Nope. Don't believe you. Gramps would've said something if I had a dad running around in a fancy cloak. You're just some weird guy."

Dragon pinched the bridge of his nose—the knucklehead gene clearly running strong in the family.

"Fine. Believe what you want. But your actions are still wrong, Luffy. Destroying Marine bases, kidnapping officers, murdering pirates and feeding them to villagers… that's not justice. That's chaos."

Luffy blinked.

"That's what a good pirate does."

Dragon's brow furrowed.

"There is no 'good' in those actions. A good pirate wouldn't loot, rape, murder—"

Luffy cut him off with a confused head tilt.

"Then he'd be a Marine. Or a hero. Not a pirate."

Dragon opened his mouth. Closed it. Opened it again.

"That's… not how—"

"A good pirate," Luffy continued, counting on his fingers like he was explaining the most obvious thing in the world, "is a pirate who's good at piracy. Stealing treasure, fighting strong guys, eating lots of meat, fucking hot girls, kicking balls when they're arrogant… all the pirate stuff! If you don't do pirate stuff, you're not a pirate. You're boring."

Dragon stared at his son—wind still swirling around him—like he was trying to solve a puzzle with half the pieces missing.

"You're… impossible."

Luffy grinned wider.

"Shishishi! Thanks!"

Behind them, Zoro finished carving through the last squad of Marines—bodies falling in neat piles. He wiped blood off Wado Ichimonji with a flick, sheathed it, and called over the carnage.

"Oi, Luffy! What the hell are you arguing about? Retreat before reinforcements arrive!"

Luffy turned, still grinning at Dragon.

"See ya later, maybe-dad! Gotta go to the Grand Line! Meet me there if you want to."

Dragon reached out—as if to grab him—but Luffy was already bounding away, rubber legs stretching for extra speed.

Zoro fell in beside him—carrying the still-kicking, gagged Tashigi over one shoulder like a particularly angry sack of potato.

"Move, Captain. Before more Logias show up."

Nami and Nojiko were already sprinting toward the coast—bags of loot bouncing, Usopp trailing behind like a pack mule on his last legs.

"Summon Ship! Full speed! Grand Line!"

Zoro dumped Tashigi on the deck—still bound, still muffled-screaming—then took the wheel.

"Next heading… uh… that way?"

Nami facepalmed so hard it echoed.

"We're doomed."

Luffy laughed—high and wild—standing on the figurehead, arms spread.

"GRAND LINE! HERE WE COME!"

The red ship pulled away from Logue Town—leaving burning stalls, broken Marines, a castrated captain, and a Revolutionary leader rubbing his forehead in the dust.

Dragon watched them go—cloak snapping in the wind.

"...That boy is going to burn the world down."

He almost sounded proud.
