Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - The Sun’s Final Dance

The moon hung low, a cold witness to the clash of blades in a desolate forest clearing. Yoriichi Tsugikuni, his breath steady despite his aging body, faced his twin brother, Michikatsu—now Kokushibo, the Upper Rank One demon. The air crackled with demonic energy, but Yoriichi's heart was heavy with sorrow, not fear. His hanafuda earrings swayed gently, catching the moonlight, as he gripped his Nichirin Blade, its scarlet glow pulsing with Sun Breathing's warmth.

"Michikatsu," Yoriichi's voice was soft, almost a plea. "Why did you choose this path?"

Kokushibo's six eyes glared, his crescent-bladed katana gleaming with malice. "You, Yoriichi... always the sun, always perfect," he spat, his voice a venomous echo of their shared past. "I became this to surpass you!"

Yoriichi's crimson Sun Mark burned on his forehead, amplifying his senses. He saw every flaw in his brother's stance, every flicker of regret beneath the demon's rage. I failed you, he thought, memories of their childhood flashing—training under their father's harsh gaze, Michikatsu's envy growing like a shadow. Yoriichi had only wanted to protect him, to share the light of the sun. But now, only one could stand.

Kokushibo lunged, his Moon Breathing unleashing a torrent of crescent blades. "Die, Yoriichi!" he roared, each slash a storm of darkness. Yoriichi countered with Sun Breathing: First Form - Dance. His blade wove flames, slicing through the crescents with fluid grace. The forest ignited, trees smoldering under the heat of their clash.

"You were my brother," Yoriichi said, parrying a blow that shook the earth. His body, weakened by age, ached, but his spirit burned eternal. Second Form: Clear Blue Sky. A radiant spiral of fire erupted, forcing Kokushibo back. The demon snarled, his wounds regenerating, but Yoriichi saw the truth—Michikatsu's heart still flickered, buried beneath centuries of corruption.

"Why do you hesitate?" Kokushibo mocked, unleashing Moon Breathing: Fifth Form - Moonlit Shadows. Blades rained down, grazing Yoriichi's arm. Blood dripped, but he stood unshaken. "You could've ended me long ago!"

"Because I love you," Yoriichi whispered, his eyes glistening. Third Form: Raging Sun. Twin arcs of flame surged, shattering Kokushibo's attack. The demon staggered, his pride warring with the pain of those words. Yoriichi advanced, each step a testament to his resolve. Fourth Form: Burning Bones, Summer Sun. A protective blaze enveloped him, deflecting another assault.

Kokushibo's rage peaked. "You pity me!" he screamed, his blade morphing into grotesque, jagged forms. Moon Breathing: Ninth Form - Waning Moon Tempest. The forest trembled as countless crescents tore through the air. Yoriichi's breath steadied, his heart heavy but resolute. He channeled his final strength into Sun Breathing: Thirteenth Form. Every form flowed seamlessly—Dance, Clear Blue Sky, Raging Sun, and more—merging into a radiant cycle of fire that consumed the darkness.

The clearing fell silent. Kokushibo's blade clattered to the ground, his body bisected but still standing, eyes wide with shock. "Yoriichi..." he rasped, a tear falling from his human eye. "I... wanted to be you."

Yoriichi's blade lowered, his strength fading. "Live, Michikatsu," he said, voice breaking. "Find your light." But as he spoke, his heart stuttered. Age, exhaustion, and the weight of a lifetime's battles claimed him. He collapsed, his Nichirin Blade dimming, the Sun Mark fading. His last breath carried a prayer: Let me protect others... in another life.

As his soul drifted, a crimson orb appeared, pulsing with otherworldly power. "Your light is not extinguished, Yoriichi Tsugikuni," it whispered. "A new world awaits, where your sun will shine anew." The forest faded, and Yoriichi's soul was pulled into the void, destined for the Douluo Continent, where a mother's fierce love would call him forth.
