Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Love Parked Beside Her

The evening sun was descending when Amanda encountered an unexpected challenge. On her way home from work, her Camry broke down without warning. Pulling over, she stepped out and faced the car with determination. While she had achieved much in her life, car repairs were definitely not her strong suit. To add to her frustration, her phone had died, leaving her unable to call her mechanic.

Taking a deep breath, Amanda refused to let panic take over. I can't just stand here; I need a plan, she thought. Before she could decide on her next steps, a sleek black GLE pulled up across from her.

A tall man with a striking dark complexion emerged, moving with undeniable confidence. Amanda felt her heart race momentarily. Wow… he's incredibly attractive. Quickly, she composed herself, masking her thoughts with a composed smile.

"Hello, young lady," he greeted warmly. "How are you?"

"I'm well, thank you. And you?" Amanda replied, her voice clear and steady.

"I'm good, thanks to the Almighty." He looked at her with genuine concern. "But what brings you here alone?"

"My car broke down, and my phone ran out of battery, so I haven't been able to contact my mechanic," Amanda explained calmly.

He nodded sympathetically. "I'm sorry to hear that. If you don't mind, I'd like to take a look. It might be a simple fix."

Amanda felt a wave of relief as she agreed. After a quick inspection, he smiled and said, "Just kick the car once—let's see what happens."

Following his guidance, she kicked the car, and to her surprise, the engine roared back to life. Amanda laughed, relief washing over her as her worries dissipated.

"No problem at all," he said with a confident smile. Little did Amanda know, he was not a stranger—he was her neighbor from Greenline Estate. For months, he had admired her from a distance, captivated by her grace and confidence, but he had never summoned the courage to approach her. Today, fate had opened the door, and he wasn't going to let it slip away.

As Amanda prepared to leave, he called out, "Please wait. Take my card; you can reach me if anything else comes up."

Her face lit up as she accepted the card. "Absolutely! I'd love to. Thank you so much—I really appreciate your help."

They both drove home with smiles on their faces. As she approached her gate, the guard greeted her cheerfully, "Welcome, ma'am! How was work today?"

"It was fantastic, thank you!" Amanda replied, a spark of excitement in her voice. She rushed inside, eager to charge her phone and call the man who had just transformed her evening.

Later, with her phone powered up, Amanda confidently dialed the number on the card. After a few rings, a familiar voice answered.

"Hello, who is on the line?"

"It's Amanda—the lady you helped with her car earlier," she said, her smile evident in her tone.

"Oh, Amanda! How are you?"

"I'm doing great, thanks again for your help. I truly appreciate it. By the way, what's your name?"

"My apologies—I should have introduced myself earlier. I'm Richard. And you?"

"Amanda. Nice to officially meet you, Richard."

Their conversation flowed effortlessly, each word bridging the gap between strangers and something more meaningful. By the end of the call, Richard asked, "Is this your WhatsApp number?"

"Yes, it is," Amanda replied, excitement brimming within her.

"Perfect. I'll text you. Have a wonderful evening, Amanda."

"You too," she said softly but confidently.

As she set the phone down, Amanda felt a spark in her chest—an exhilarating mix of curiosity and hope. Deep down, she knew this was just the beginning of a story she had long been waiting to write.
