Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3:THE PAUSE BEFORE THE NEXT STORMS

Finally, the long-awaited day arrived. My heart raced as I stepped into the exam hall. Colleagues were scattered around—some deep in thought, others pretending they were ready to chew the paper. I exhaled three deep breaths and whispered, "God, take control."

And just like that… it was over. Thank God! Semester done.

But… am I truly done? Not yet. The results haven't dropped, and that's a whole different level of stress.

Now, time to focus on the next mission—accommodation. I've already started packing. Haaaaa! I miss my parents' food and my siblings. I can't wait to lie in my mother's room, eat banku, and not think about hostel managers or course outlines for once.

But deep down, I know this is just a pause—not the end.

Now that I've secured a hostel for the next academic year, let me pack my things and set off tomorrow morning—sharp.

Phone ringing! Phone ringing! Who is that? Can't I rest small too?

"Hello? I'm good, and you?"

"Awww, thanks for telling me. I really appreciate it. Okay, sure—I'll see to it. Byeeeee!"

Yieeeee! That was an epic call! I can't wait to partake in the program! Mmmm... I think this vacation is already bearing good fruit. I hope it continues like that.

Done packing. Let me do my online Spanish class—I hardly ever join since I'm always stuck doing something.

Guess what? I'm on my way home! In the car, my mind drifted to that outing I went on with Jenny and Belinda. It was such a beautiful sight. I really felt sorry for our ancestors—hmmm. Don't ask me where we went—you can guess. And you know ladies, haha—we love taking snaps, especially Belinda. She always says, "Ogidi! Me, I want five pictures, so do it!" Lol. Funny, right?

P.S. I've reached the station. Let me get a taxi home.

Ohhhh! I told my mom to cook something for me, and guess what she said? Huuuuhhhh! I'm crying already. This woman can make you laugh, I swear.

Home sweet home! First, let me eat. Since my siblings are still in school, why not pay them a surprise visit? Yes! Let me do that.

I didn't tell anyone I was coming home—I just showed up. And wow, the look on my siblings' faces was priceless. They were genuinely surprised, and honestly, I felt warm inside seeing them smile like that just because I was there. On our way home, they kept bickering about the usual petty things, and I couldn't help but shake my head and laugh. Some things never change.

For one whole week, I did absolutely nothing but rest. I slept, ate, and soaked in all the home love. That was my real vacation—peace before the next storm.

Deep down, I knew this pause wasn't the end. Something bigger was coming, and I could feel it stirring just beyond the horizon.

"Little did I know, the calm wouldn't last long… someone—or something—was about to turn my world upside down."
