Chapter 8

A massive explosion shattered the palace walls.

Smoke—red and black—rose like demons from the broken spires.

Inside, Soma clashed with Kaka.

She hurled a sphere of pure magic across the throne room.

Kaka swung his sword with brutal precision, slicing the spell mid-air—

but the fragments detonated, throwing him backward in a storm of fire and ash.

As the dust settled, they rose again.

Their duel became a violent ballet—

steel against sorcery, fury against fate.

Kaka slowly began to overpower her.

Her strikes grew weaker. Her breaths—shallow.

It was the end. Until—

"You know," Soma hissed through bloodied lips,

"Your son told us to kill you all."

Kaka froze.

Mid-air. Mid-strike.

A dagger of truth pierced through his rage.

Was this all my fault?

Did I break Kayogara? Could I have stopped this?

His hesitation was fatal.

Soma launched another magical sphere, crashing him into the palace wall.

Bruised but unbroken, Kaka rose, clutching his sword tighter.

Soma, desperate, fired magic orbs in every direction—trying to trap him.

But Kaka, roaring like a storm, leapt through the chaos.

He closed the distance—his eyes burning with grief and duty.

Soma's heart slowed.

She knew… this was her end.

She closed her eyes.

And in a flash—Kaka's blade sliced through her neck.

Her body crumbled like dust.

Her legacy burned out in silence.

---

But Kaka had no time to breathe.

From her death, a giant cloud of crimson magic burst into the sky, declaring her fall.

And high above the battlefield—Sophie saw it.

She stormed toward the palace, her face carved in fury.

She kicked the palace doors open—

and there he stood.

Kaka.

She saw her aunt's fading corpse lying behind him.

"You killed Soma," she whispered,

"And now, you won't survive another minute."

Kaka looked at the furious girl before him and sighed.

"I don't want to fight a child. Walk away. You can live."

"And your mother… she was bound to die someday."

Sophie's voice cracked like lightning:

"Who told you she was my mother?"

Her body vanished in a blur of motion.

Before Kaka could even react, her hand was at his throat—

and they blasted upward, crashing through ceiling after ceiling.

Kaka dropped his sword.

He couldn't move. Her grip crushed everything.

She dragged him outside, breaking through the walls,

until they hovered above the ruined palace.

---

On the battlefield, Kayogara still faced Kai.

But Kai's eyes were locked on the sky, where Sophie had Kaka by the throat.

He began running away towards them, ignoring Kayogara's stance.

Before he could reach them, Sora appeared—blocking his path.

Meanwhile, Kayogara turned at the sound of a scream.

A voice he could never mistake—Mira.

He ran, heart hammering, and found her beneath fallen debris.

Her injured leg—now worse than ever.

He knelt and cradled her, panic and guilt in his eyes.

"Brother…" Mira whispered,

"If you want the kingdom, take it. Kai and I will leave…

But please, don't kill him. I only have you two left now."

Kayogara's breath shook.

He had never denied Mira anything. Not now.

He nodded,"If Kai ever fails to protect you… just call. I'll come."

She smiled through pain, seeing the light return to her brother's eyes.

---

Back near the palace, Kai clashed with Sora in a flurry of strikes.

His sword cracked her mask, breaking a piece away.

Sora was stunned.

He's just a boy… yet he wields power like the end of the world.

Kai snarled mid-blow,

"You witches twisted Sophie into something she never was.

You made her like… a demon."

That line struck Sora like thunder.

Not him… Not the monster I feared. Not again…

She screamed and unleashed a burst of magical blades.

Kai dodged them—barely.

But as Sora's eyes rose to Sophie floating above—her rage faltered.

Her blood turned cold.

Those eyes… that voice… it's happening again…

---

Above them all, Sophie hovered, Kaka crushed in her grip.

His eyes widened in disbelief.

This strength… that tone… it can't be…

Is this… my end?

I can feel his presence in her what's going on ?

Before he could piece it together—

Kai's sword slashed through Sora's neck.

Her head hit the ground.

Sophie saw it—and her hand tightened.

Bones cracked.

Blood spilled.

Kaka died in her grip.

But instead of peace… Sophie turned to Kai.

"You took her from me…" she said softly,

"Now you will lose everyone you love."

She didn't attack him.

But her curse was worse.

"Until your last breath—whoever you love… will die."
