Chapter 1 - Hardwork? Yeah Sell That Shit To My Demented Grandma Not Me

The saying 'Hardwork doesn't betray.' is pathetically false. Who said that? Probably someone talented, in an effort to make the poor and unskilled people toil away for them, thinking that one day, just one day they'd succeed.

Talent is everything, talent determines how you'd benefit from training.

Hardwork is nothing without talent.

In a world filled with magic, demons, hot elves and swords. Talent determined whether you could hold your head high or prostrated yourself before a nepo baby.

No matter how much effort you put into something, you would never be able to surpass the unsurmountable mountain known as talent.

There were countless people who put as much effort as Messi, Ronaldo, Bobby Fischer, Magnus Carlsen, maybe even more. They sacrificed their soul, their blood, their life, their family, but in the end…..they would never even be able to compare to their left testicle.

But yet, people repeated the saying when facing failures, 'Efforts never betray'

What kind of tomfoolery was that?

Efforts don't mean anything, in the face of talent, hardwork is nothing.

The reason people repeated this saying was due to the fact that they wanted you in the rat race, they wanted to watch you suffer.

It was utter bullshit. Period.

Now you all must be thinking, "Aww jeez, this guy has issues, serious issues. He's completely deluded, something must've have happened to him in his childhood."

You're right in the first part, I'm healthy enough to admit that. But no! This isn't my own delusion, this is reality!

So you must be wondering, where is my bitterness for Talent coming from?

Well, where should we start.

You see, I was just a dissatisfied teenager with a disgruntled home life, you know the classic anime backstory.

Abusive drunkard dad who gambled, emotionally manipulating mother and a sister who ran away when he was 12.

My only solace—a novel named The Authors POV.

So when I passed away due to stress, I know a pathetic way to die. I wasn't sad, in my final moments I realised that I didn't care if I lived or died.

So when I transmigrated to the world of The Authors POV, I considered a cherry on top.

But the world quickly came crashing down on me when I realised that I had no talent, my talent was rated E—quite harrowing.

But I tried, I tried hard, I practised until my limit and yet I wasn't able to overcome the gap of talent.

So the only option I had left? It was to cheat—the Seed of Limit. That was the only item that could help me, while I did care about Ren's future, I cared about mine more.

He was destined to become the Overseer, it was fate, everything was set up for him to become Overseer, so even if I did take the Seed of Limit, Ren should still be able to somehow find a way.

But, the Seed of Limit remained elusive, I searched for two entire years, spending craploads of U, but ultimately I found nothing. In the end it seemed that I was destined to remain a failure in this world too.

Not wanting to be trampled on, there are two ways. One is to become strong, strong until no one dares to step on you. Another is to turn into dogshit, something no one would want to step on.

But did I really want to turn into dogshit? Someone so undesirable that not even the demons would attack?

I am cursed with weakness, servitude was molded into me. My talent starved and my path riddled with thorns.

But so what? If the heavens won't grant me strength, I will steal it. If the earth denies me a path, I will carve one. Even a worm can gnaw through stone, so long as it refuses to die."
