Chapter 18 - This is fine

Yunyun stared at the letter, then at Levi.

"So… is the mate thing normal for dragons?"

Levi shook the letter once.

The parchment shimmered.

A second enchantment activated, the ink peeling away into light—forming a floating image. At the same time, a small slip of paper dropped neatly into Levi's hand.

He read it aloud, already tired.

> "From Triton. In case one of your future mates thinks having multiple mates is strange—

here's proof this is normal."

The image finished forming.

Seven elegant dragonborn women stood side by side, all regal, all terrifyingly confident, all very clearly queens.

The room went dead silent.

Aqua leaned forward. "…Wow."

Wiz covered her mouth. "That's… a lot of wives."

Yunyun's brain visibly blue-screened.

Levi squinted at the image.

"…He picked the formal portrait. Of course he did."

Aqua pointed at the image. "WHY DO THEY ALL LOOK LIKE THEY COULD KILL ME?"

"Because they could," Levi said flatly. "That's a requirement."

Yunyun finally managed to speak, voice small.

"S-seven…?"

"Eight," Levi corrected. "One's off-frame. She hates photos."

Wiz swallowed. "So… dragon culture is…"

"Poly," Levi said. "Structured. Contractual. Very clear on expectations."

Aqua crossed her arms. "That's cheating with extra steps."

"No," Levi replied. "That's marriage with paperwork."

Yunyun's face was completely red now.

"S-so… if you're a dragon prince…"

Levi looked away.

"Technically."

"…Does that mean—"

"Only if everyone agrees," he cut in quickly. "No pressure. No rules forcing anything. Dragon law is strict about consent."

Aqua blinked.

"…That's surprisingly responsible."

"Yeah," Levi said. "That's why Atlantis hasn't collapsed."

Wiz glanced at the image again, then at Levi, voice quiet but sincere.

"And your family would truly accept… humans? A lich?"

Levi nodded once.

"Atlantis runs on DnD rules," he said. "Race matters less than level, bonds, and whether you can survive dungeon night."

Aqua smirked. "So what are we? Rare party members?"

Levi folded the letter and slid it back into his coat.

"You," he said, looking at all three of them,

"are my party."

Outside the mansion, the sea shifted.

Somewhere far above, fate quietly updated a few character sheets.

Levi stood up and spoke one word.

"Nereis."

The water beside the couch rippled.

Then she stepped out of it—tall, serene, skin like clear blue glass, hair flowing as if gravity had politely given up. Pearls hovered around her like they were thinking about orbiting.

Aqua yelped.

"WAH—!?" She nearly fell off the couch. "WHY IS THERE A WATER WOMAN JUST SPAWNING HERE?"

Nereis blinked once, then bowed smoothly.

"Oh, yes, great Levi-sama."

Aqua froze.

"…She called you what?"

Levi pinched the bridge of his nose. "We've talked about the '-sama' thing."

Nereis tilted her head. "It is tradition."

"It's embarrassing."

"It is also accurate."

Levi sighed, already tired. "Just—tell the other water spirits and nymphs to make food for four people today."

Nereis smiled, bright and calm. "As you wish."

She turned, paused, then glanced at Aqua.

"…Should I avoid salt?"

Aqua pointed at her. "WHY WOULD YOU EVEN ASK THAT?"

Nereis nodded solemnly. "Understood. No salt."

She dissolved back into water like she had never existed.

Silence followed.

Aqua slowly turned to Levi.

"…How many people live in your house?"

"Define 'live,'" Levi said.

Wiz answered gently, "Water spirits don't really live anywhere. They just… respond."

Aqua stared at the wall. "I left heaven for this."

Yunyun tugged lightly at Levi's sleeve, voice small.

"Um… Levi? Does this happen every day?"

"No," he said. "Only when I remember to eat properly."

Aqua groaned and flopped back against the couch.

"This is unfair. You get an underwater palace, obedient spirits, dragon blood, and a harem clause."

Levi glanced at her.

"You get resurrection, infinite mana, and divine authority."

"…Still unfair."

From somewhere deeper in the mansion, soft movement echoed—water flowing, magic humming, preparations beginning.

Levi leaned back, arms crossing.

"Dinner'll be ready soon," he said calmly.

Aqua looked at Levi as she spoke. "So, when did you meet her?".

Levi looked at her. "First day, after you Isekaid me, she outside my Slime Jellybean".

Flashbacks

From the depths, a shadow rose.

Two glowing eyes blinked open in the water.

Levi's blue eyes began to glow faintly, a ripple of power stirring inside him. The Dragon Blood of Neuvillette surged, and for a moment his fangs flashed in the reflection of the lake.

"Fuck off!" he barked.

The glowing eyes in the water stopped. They blinked. Then—shockingly—they started to tremble.

A wobbly whimper echoed through the lake, followed by… crying?

Before Levi could process, something rose from the water. Not a dragon. Not a beast. Instead, a woman made entirely of water emerged, her hair flowing like liquid streams, her body translucent and shimmering. Big anime tears poured down her cheeks, splashing into the lake like waterfalls.

"I-I'm so sorry, O Almighty Dragon!" the watery girl sobbed, bowing so hard her head nearly fell off. "I didn't mean to offend! Please forgive this lowly nymph!"

Levi stared, dumbfounded. His inner monologue was all he had left.

'…Is that a fucking nymph?'

End of Flashback

Levi looked at the girls. "Like that".

He was done explaining but left some parts out.

Aqua stared at him.

"…That's it?"

Levi nodded once. "That's it."

Wiz covered her mouth, shoulders shaking slightly. "You scared a water nymph into tears… on your first day."

Yunyun blinked. "B-by accident?"

"Yes," Levi said flatly. "Very much by accident."

Aqua leaned forward, pointing at him. "You yelled at a lake."

"I didn't know it was alive," Levi shot back. "It had glowing eyes. That's never a good sign."

Wiz smiled softly. "To be fair, water nymphs are extremely sensitive to draconic auras. Especially royal bloodlines."

Levi leaned back into the couch. "She apologized. I apologized. Then she swore eternal loyalty, cried again, and started calling me 'great Levi-sama.'"

Yunyun whispered, "…That escalated fast."

"It got worse," Levi added.

All three girls looked at him.

"She named my slime."

Aqua's eyes widened. "You let her name your slime?"

"I was tired," Levi said. "I'd died, been isekai'd, yelled at a lake, and learned I had dragon blood. I didn't have the energy to argue."

Wiz tilted her head. "What did she name it?"

Levi hesitated. "…Jellybean."

Aqua burst out laughing. "YOU LET A WATER NYMPH NAME YOUR SLIME JELLYBEAN?"

"It fits," Levi muttered.

As if summoned by slander, the slime bounced happily across the floor.

Plop.

Yunyun smiled despite herself. "It does fit…"

Aqua wiped a tear from her eye, still laughing. "Unbelievable. I send you to another world and you immediately become a dragon prince with aquatic followers."

Levi glanced at her. "You threw me into a fantasy world with no instructions."

"That's called character growth."

"That's called negligence."

Wiz laughed softly, then looked thoughtful. "Still… it explains why the water spirits respond to you so easily. Dragons of Atlantis are treated like high-level entities. Almost like living dungeon bosses."

Levi sighed. "Great. I'm an environmental hazard."

Aqua smirked. "Congratulations. You're officially more divine-adjacent than me."

Levi gave her a sideways look. "Don't start."

The room grew calmer as the mansion hummed around them. Soft light filtered through the water above, shadows of fish drifting like lazy thoughts.

From the kitchen area, faint splashing and quiet voices echoed—water spirits working, humming gently.

Yunyun shifted slightly on Levi's lap, then asked hesitantly, "Um… Levi?"

"Yeah?"

"…Are there more people like Nereis?"

Levi paused. "…Yes."

"How many?"

"…Enough that I don't question it anymore."

Aqua slumped against the couch. "I liked you better when you were just some dead guy in a tracksuit."

Levi smirked faintly. "You still dragged me here."

"…Fair."

For a moment, they just sat there—goddess, lich, archmage, dragon—listening to water move like a living thing around them.

Then Levi spoke again, calm and resigned.

"And that," he said, "was the least weird part of my first day."

Wiz looked at Levi as she spoke. "What now?".

Levi looked at her as he srugghed. "There is a shower, you can take a shower before Lunch is ready".

Yunyun just blinked still on Levi lap. "How does that work, we are already under water".

Levi looked at her as he explained. "You all are covered by my water aura, that is why your clotchs and you are still dry, once you get in, just think of turning it of and you can feel water".

Yunyun stared at him for a second.

"…That is the most overpowered explanation I've ever heard."

Aqua leaned forward, eyes sparkling. "WAIT. You're telling me you control the wetness settings of reality?"

Levi gave her a flat look. "Please never phrase it like that again."

Wiz smiled, clearly fascinated. "So it's a passive field effect tied to your draconic affinity? Like a constant Control Water aura, but refined."

Levi nodded. "Pretty much. Think of it like an always-on spell. I decide who gets affected."

Aqua crossed her arms. "Unfair. When I do miracles, people call it cheating."

"That's because you do it wrong," Levi said.

Aqua gasped. "Blasphemy."

Yunyun carefully slid off Levi's lap, still processing. "So… if I walk into the shower and think about turning it off…"

"You'll get wet," Levi said.

Yunyun's face instantly turned red. "I-I mean—! The water! I meant the water!"

Wiz chuckled softly. "Don't worry, Yunyun. It's actually very convenient. No humidity, no cold, and no soggy clothes unless you want them to be."

Aqua stood up abruptly. "I'm going first."

Levi raised an eyebrow. "You're still banned from flooding my house."

"That was one time."

"It was a divine tsunami."

Aqua waved him off and marched toward the hallway. "If I drown, I'm haunting you."

"You're already haunting me," Levi replied.

She paused, turned around, and stuck her tongue out before disappearing down the corridor.

Wiz stood as well, smoothing her dress. "I suppose I'll go after her. Just in case she breaks something."

"Please do," Levi said. "If she tries to bless the plumbing, stop her."

Wiz laughed and followed.

That left Levi and Yunyun standing awkwardly in the living room.

"…Um," Yunyun said softly, fidgeting with her fingers. "Your home is… really nice."

"Thanks," Levi replied. "It kind of built itself."

"…Of course it did."

There was a brief silence, broken only by the gentle hum of magic and distant splashing.

Lunch smells began to drift in—warm, savory, comforting.

Levi glanced toward the kitchen. "Food should be ready soon. Take your time."

Yunyun nodded, then hesitated. "Levi?"

"Yeah?"

"…I'm glad you're here."

Levi smiled, just a little. "Me too."

And for once, in a world full of gods, dragons, and chaos, things felt calm.

A short while later, soft footsteps echoed down the hallway.

Levi looked up just in time to see Aqua and Wiz step back into the living room.

For a moment, his brain stalled.

Aqua was wearing a flowing white-and-blue dress, light as mist, the fabric shimmering like sunlight on water. It hugged her just enough to look elegant, then flared out, moving as if it had a will of its own. Droplets slid off it and vanished before hitting the floor.

She struck a pose immediately, hands on her hips. "Behold. Water Spirit Fashion. Divine edition."

Wiz stepped out beside her, calm and graceful. Her outfit resembled a shrine maiden's robes, white and deep violet, with water-like patterns flowing along the hems. The sleeves were long and elegant, and the fabric glowed faintly with magic.

Yunyun froze.

"…You both look amazing."

Wiz smiled softly. "The water spirits were very enthusiastic. They kept apologizing for 'not being worthy enough' while making it."

Aqua nodded smugly. "They cried while measuring me. As they should."

Levi pinched the bridge of his nose. "I'm apologizing in advance for her."

"It's fine," Wiz said gently. "They seemed… happy."

Aqua twirled, the dress rippling like a wave. "See? I inspire devotion."

"You inspire headaches," Levi replied.

Before Aqua could argue, a familiar presence filled the room.

Nereis reappeared, half her body forming from water, the other half already solid. Behind her, several lesser water spirits floated in, carrying plates, bowls, and trays made of crystal-clear water that somehow held solid food.

"Lunch is ready, Great Levi-sama," Nereis said, bowing deeply. "We prepared dishes suited for mortals and divine beings alike."

Aqua's eyes lit up. "FOOD."

She immediately tried to grab a plate.

Nereis flinched.

Levi cleared his throat.

"…Ask."

Aqua froze, sighed dramatically, then clasped her hands. "May I please eat the food prepared by your loyal water spirits?"

Nereis visibly relaxed. "Y-yes! Please enjoy!"

Aqua snatched a plate and sat down, already eating. "See? Respectful."

"No," Levi said flatly. "That was extortion."

They gathered around the table as the spirits finished setting everything up. The food smelled incredible—fresh fish, warm bread, soups that shimmered faintly with magic.

Yunyun sat beside Levi, still a little overwhelmed. "Your life is… very different from Axel."

Levi took a bite, nodding. "Yeah. That's why I like Axel."

Wiz looked at him. "Even with airships, royal families, and gods appearing in your bedroom?"

"Especially with that," he said. "At least here, people are honest about being ridiculous."

Aqua raised her glass. "To ridiculous lives!"

Levi raised his water. "To surviving them."

Somewhere above the waves, Axel went on as usual—chaotic, loud, and blissfully unaware that a dragon prince, a goddess, and a lich were eating lunch under the river like it was perfectly normal.

And honestly?

For Konosuba, it was.
