Chapter 3 - Preparations for Hunting Goblins

The two recruits did not take long after the handshake to leave the hunters' guild and go to their destination, the hunt for goblins.

—Let's go to the village that is being attacked to gather information about their possible location.

—We still have the duty to provide support to the villagers, we need to see if they haven't suffered any damage like someone captured or a fatality.

Fay was a person who liked to think with his heart, the current state of the village weighed on his heart to know if anyone had been injured or killed. Jon was more rational, he thought about how to achieve his goal of finishing off the little green monsters.

—Your heart is very big.

—I was taught that the way to use my strength is something I must use for something noble, protecting the lives of others is something relevant to have as an ideal.

Both of them killed a little time talking while they headed for the village, the trip should take about one to two hours of walking if they kept up this pace.

The first adventure accelerated their hearts with the feeling that they were experiencing a new kind of world, the feeling of exploring things that no one has ever seen or witnessed. The young men's minds had a fertile and optimistic imagination, the life of a hunter was quite romanticized in the aspiring profession.

The arrival at the village was something strange when seeing the state of the villagers' houses, there were several holes with arrow or spear holes in the wreckage. Residents with a clear look of malnutrition, severe stress, their physical or psychological health had escaped far from them.

—The situation seems quite problematic.

The first to speak was the gunman who was more sensitive to negative emotions than his friend, who was shocked because of the decadent conditions that these men and women lived in. The older of the two hid his shock to force a professional face and convey confidence, the younger one left the shock he was feeling wide open.

—Could you tell me what is happening in this village? We are hunters from the guild and we came to solve the goblin problems.

The villagers' gaze quickly brightened when they heard about dealing with the goblins, the same look as receiving a pile of gold or a bountiful harvest. The desperation in their eyes seemed to disappear despite a great fear being noticed when mentioning the name of that species of monsters.

—It was about time someone showed up to end our suffering.

The person who stood out was an old man from 60 to 70 years old, with a huge beard and hair, a slightly curved spine and using a cane to support himself. The state of this old man was quite decadent like that of other villagers.

—I must be speaking with the village chief, aren't I?

Fay remained quiet while his friend was talking with the village authorities, he understood that the emotional side would be better used when he went to fight the monsters.

—Yes, my name is Alfred, I am the chief of the village of Hampton. The monsters are making the villagers quite nervous, madness is a matter of time if things continue this way.

Listening to the elder's conversation generated a little empathy in the two beginner hunters, life being completely turned upside down because of monsters was not something normal or easy to bear.

—We will deal with these monsters and you can sleep peacefully tonight.

The gunman smiled when his friend stopped being quiet after so long, the flames in his eyes were something that made the older one excited to start the practical part of the adventure.

—I want to know what are the poisonous animals that exist in the region, I also want you to inform me if there is any plant poison.

The veterans said to take note of the local poisons were a weapon that the small green monsters used, as several of them claimed to have been affected by different poisons because of the location they were in.

—It's a good thing you remembered several things, I had forgotten about this part, Jon.

The village chief was thinking a lot about what types of poisons existed near the village, it was not uncommon to have plants or animals with poison.

—The easiest poison to find here is from the stone flower, this flower has a poison capable of paralyzing the person to make them stiff like a rock.

—Any antidote left over? We will need it in case we have the bad luck to get hurt.

Alfred quickly asked someone to bring a small flask of the flower's antidote, they always had some because of how common it was in this region, accidents happened a few times a year.

—You must take a spoonful for it to take effect, 10 minutes and the poison begins to weaken.

The antidote was placed in the older adventurer's pocket to keep it safe, the long-distance combat would help him keep the flask intact for the good of the duo.

—I also wanted to know about the existence of nearby caves, goblins like to set up their bases in caves or underground holes.

—There are small caves around our village, but there is only one that is large enough to serve as a base.

—The same direction as that direction from which they appear?

—It seems to be really in the same direction from which they appear.

—Thank you.

The conversation was flowing to discover a few more things about the cave, the location where it was and also what the entrance looked like so that there were no errors. The minimum details were heard and noted, so it was time to leave for the mission.

—Let's go, Fay.

—Yes!

The walk to the mission took only a few steps before being interrupted by a very beautiful young lady with black hair, her eyes were brown and her clothes were a simple light green dress. One could notice her splendid curves by giving her a second look.

—I know it might be rude, but can you save my brother? He's my only remaining family and was captured by those abominations. I know it's asking too much to do a search in the enemy's lair.

Fay quickly stood up when he regained focus and grabbed the woman's shoulder to say a few words that were consistent with his personality, that of an honest man following his heart without any hesitation.

—Your brother will come home. Can I know his name for when we bring him home?

—His name is Marcus, I am his older sister, Mary.

Mary quickly introduced her own name after giving the introduction about her brother, the rest of the village was also talking about the other children who were kidnapped when they saw the scene.

The mission basically gained another objective when they left that village of people terrorized by cunning monsters. The surprise came when the system's blue screen appeared again on the face of the traveler from another world.

Mission 01Save the children of Hampton village (0/15)Penalty for Failure: Loss of an Eye.Reward: Small advance in the chosen status. Will the user accept or refuse the mission?

His finger did not hesitate to accept the mission to save the children of the village, his heart could not be as soft as his friend's, however, it was still a heart with feelings of pity and helping others.

—We should discuss our strategy while we walk to the cave.

—I have to be careful with the environment I enter, my spear should not be able to move for movements other than thrusts in caves if the environment is very narrow.

The spearmen's concern was valid when he realized that he was limited to only a few movements of his spear, he could not use his complete arsenal in this fight.

—I will cover your flaws, don't worry about giving more attacks beyond thrusts.

—I wanted to show myself being a little cool in front of my friend.

Fay gave a sigh while looking at his spear, then looked at his friend while walking to continue the main conversation.

—So you already have an elaborate plan for our attack on the goblins?

—Yes, we are going to do a quick massacre, our attack will be too fast for them to think about doing something.

The colt was very noisy when the shot was fired to make a stealth attack, so a quick attack would have to be made so that there were no variables.

—Our enemies are thinking creatures like us, so we must make a stealth attack that forces them to react the way we want. You go ahead with the spear to finish off any enemy, I'll cover your flaws with my long-range weapon.

—Wouldn't your long-range weapon be better for a stealth attack? After we are discovered we would make the quick attack strategy.

Fay had this doubt because he had never seen his newest companion's weapon in action, the doubt of how that person fought was something that was still in his head as he saw no bow or crossbow.

—My weapon makes a lot of noise when it attacks, there's no way to make a stealth attack with it.

—I get it. How are we going to fight with our abilities if it's going to be very dark?

The speech was very well done when thinking about fighting in a narrow and dark environment, the small creatures would have a total advantage when they entered their nest.

—Can you make fire?

—I can.

—It's a good thing you remembered about the darkness of the cave, I hadn't taken that into account.

The thoughts of the boy from another world thought of so many things that he ended up forgetting one of the most crucial, shame rose a little on his face to make his companion laugh.

Walker was even more surprised to see the homemade torch being made quickly with the superhuman skills of his partner, it didn't take more than 5 minutes to start and end the process.

—We have torches, a strategy and the location to attack.

The excitement did not escape the brown-haired boy's eyes, his dreams of fantastic adventures were taking the first step at this moment when he would enter into action.

—The entrance to the nest must be right at that entrance?

The walk of the two was completely stopped when Jon said that they had glimpsed the cave from a distance, his mouth closed completely and he pointed to the entrance of the place.

His finger showed two small creatures with a size of 1 meter and 20 or a little taller, their ears were long, their mouths were huge and they lacked beauty just as the guild veterans said. The weapon they held were spears, their bodies had no armor to defend themselves, they only had cloths on their private parts to hide them.

The weapon was quickly pulled out of the system's inventory as if it had always been stored in his pocket, the Colt pointed at those two who were guarding the nest.

—Can you hit the other one?

The spearman quickly took a quick look at the distance he was at, picked up the spear to make a gesture of pointing and aiming to make a more detailed simulation in his head.

—There's no way to do that. My spear is too heavy to make a throw from this distance we are at, it must be approximately 40 meters from the enemy.

—I get it.

The revolver was quickly pointed in the direction of his marked enemy's chest, his hand was not trembling when he put his finger on the trigger to start the confrontation.

"I'll shoot the one on the left first, then I'll point at the cave entrance hoping the other one tries to hide to fire the shot."

The tactic of how he would deal with those goblins was being formulated in his mind, the trigger was not yet pulled because of the thoughts to check if the second shot was really viable.

"I feel his focus from here, I'm excited to see how this weapon works."

The trigger was pulled from a direction of approximately 40 meters from the enemy, the bullet was quickly fired to hit the one who was to the left of the cave. The projectile quickly passed through the skin to hit the lung and scare the other one because of the blood being spilled excessively.

"One is gone."

The reaction of the guard on the right was to panic when he heard the sound, he checked how his colleague on the left was and was scared to panic when he saw him fallen.

His reaction was to quickly try to enter his nest to hide from the mysterious enemy, which had killed the one who was on guard with him.

The sound of the shot sounded once more the moment he entered the sight of the firearm, the shot quickly went through his heart so that he had no reaction other than to die on the ground while trying to escape.

"Second one."

Fay was admiring his companion when he saw the precision of his weapon to hit at 40 meters with so much power in a projectile.

—I think it's time for us to start the extermination.

The spear was already positioned from his back to his two hands, the smile on his face showed how excited he was about the current situation.

—Yes.

The weapon remained materialized in his left hand after confirming that he had taken down the guards of the nest, the nervousness due to inexperience was being shown at this moment.

The duo quickly got up from the bushes where they were hiding, the real battle would begin the moment they entered that dark and dangerous cave.
