Chapter 236: Mr. Channing with Astonishing Assets
Max said "wait a minute" but her fingers were zooming in on the phone screen, focusing on the photo of Mr. Channing in swim trunks, zeroing in on a certain private area.
"What's that thing showing through the left side of his swimming trunks?"
"Let me see," Ron took the phone and grinned, "Well, I think this photo is enough to effectively refute the false accusations against Mr. Channing by that vindictive woman."
"Indeed, this is the second most impressive thing I've ever seen in my life," Max exclaimed.
Ron asked smugly, already knowing the answer, "Second? Who's first? Is it the handsome guy I see in the mirror every day?"
"No, I'm talking about the NBA player, Shaq," Max lightly punched Ron in the chest, "Okay, fine, I'm talking about you, are you satisfied now?"
"I'd be more satisfied if you could come over later tonight. Okay, back to business—how do you plan to get Caroline to show this photo in front of the host? I don't think she's the type of person who would mention her father's... you know... in front of everyone. She'll definitely be self-righteous and use what she thinks is a more dignified approach to fight back."
Ron's understanding of Caroline wasn't superficial. At this moment, Caroline was sitting nervously in front of the host, and was the first to challenge the vindictive woman.
"Alright, let's start with you," the host said after his opening remarks, then went straight to the point: "The thing is, the 'biggest' motivation behind Ms. Rosenthal's book is that the truth about something she reveals is..."
"In your words, it's 'very small,'" the host rephrased diplomatically: "What do you have to say about this, Ms. Channing?"
Max started signaling Caroline, pointing to her phone, but unfortunately it was too far away for Caroline to see clearly.
"I won't dignify that with a response, Piers, because I have more class," Caroline said, looking somewhat indignant: "But I do have a question for Ms. Rosenthal, whom my father once employed, because she claims to have a Ph.D. in finance."
"This girl is going to get demolished by her." Ron covered his face. Sure enough, Caroline's sheltered princess problem was showing again.
"Are you talking about Rosenthal?"
"No, I'm talking about Caroline. The fact that she can use such underhanded tactics to create publicity for herself shows that the woman is just a shameless grifter with no moral boundaries."
Ron's assessments were always spot-on: "The Civil War taught us one truth—that a gentleman can never defeat a scoundrel, unless he abandons his gentlemanly conduct. Only a scoundrel's methods can defeat a scoundrel."
"Hey, you seem to have forgotten about me." Max crouched down: "If that girl is a gentleman, then I'm a complete female scoundrel. I'll help her deal with that woman."
After that, Max crawled toward the studio along the camera's blind spots. At this time, Caroline had just asked her question: "Ms. Rosenthal, a train carrying 27 passengers left Penn Station at 9 AM and arrived in Chicago, 800 miles away, at 5 PM. What is the speed of the train?"
"Well..." Dr. Rosenthal was stumped by the question, but she didn't intend to engage with Caroline on this issue. She immediately shifted the topic to her specialty—character assassination.
"I also have a math question for you. If a 3-inch train enters a tunnel, can the tunnel feel the train coming in?"
"Hahaha..." Ron burst out laughing. This woman really had no shame whatsoever.
The host couldn't take it anymore and tapped on the table, trying to bring the topic back on track: "Ladies, this isn't Jerry Springer."
"Piers, I'm simply saying that if she's qualified in finance, she should be able to answer that question."
"Everything in my book is true. She can't disprove anything I've written," the vindictive woman declared again, but the audience booed. It was outrageous that a finance Ph.D. couldn't even solve such a basic math problem.
While America embraces "feel-good education," no matter how relaxed it gets, it doesn't go so far as to skip multiplication and division. If her degree were legitimate, it would be the biggest indictment of the American education system.
Just as Caroline was at a loss, a delicate, pale hand suddenly reached out from under the table, placed a phone in front of her, and tapped the screen. Caroline quickly shoved the phone back into the hand and looked at it.
"Wait, why is there a woman under my table?" the host exclaimed in astonishment. The crew rushed forward, intending to remove Max, but they were stopped by Ron before they could act.
"Guys, hold up, this is going to be one of the most legendary moments in talk show history. Also, which one of you is the producer? I have some really compelling footage that I'm sure you'll want."
Just before Max left, Ron had used Caroline's phone to send Mr. Channing's photo to his own device. Now might be the perfect time to use it.
"That's me. You said you had some compelling footage. What is it?" A heavyset man, apparently in charge, stood up from his chair.
"This is it, the same thing they're looking at right now," Ron handed the phone to the heavyset man, pointing out the key details and zooming in. Just then, Max, with Ron's assistance, moved to the other end of the table and presented the phone to the host again.
He zoomed in on the image and gave a thumbs-up—
OK, that's very Max.
"What is this?" The host shared the producer's confusion, then sudden understanding. "Okay, I know what it is. I have one myself, but whose is it? And why are you showing it to me?"
"It's my father's. He... accidentally made an appearance," Caroline said, looking mortified.
At the same time, the viewers watching at home who were fired up also saw the same content through the image that Ron sent to the producer.
"Whoa~" All the audience watching TV exclaimed in unison.
"Ma'am, I don't know what kind of man you're looking for," the host said earnestly, "but this gentleman is clearly exceptional among men."
"Honestly, this is nothing like what you described. I want to end this interview immediately because you and your book have zero credibility. This ends here."
"YES!" Max, who had returned, high-fived Ron and made a victory gesture to Caroline.
Ron was also very satisfied. Now, what Mr. Channing had requested was accomplished, right? Now the whole world understood his "greatness."
