Yi Zheng stood at the back with a frown.
He felt like he had just touched upon the edges of something extraordinary.
His eyes became focused as he began to think.
Is it possible that there are gods behind the arrival of the apocalypse?
But why a zombie apocalypse?
It doesn't seem like something an evil god would do.
And why would it want to destroy humanity?
What's the point of destroying the only living thing in the universe?
And most importantly, are the whispers he heard a part of it?
'Don't put me in with that thing,' the quiet voice said again.
It was obviously very disgusted at the thought of being associated with the evil god.
Yi Zheng felt relieved at the distance the voice wanted to put between it and the evil god.
"Then are you on my side?" Jae-Hyun asked, already guessing the answer.
"Don't worry, I'll definitely chop you up after I handle the director and these bastards," Shae Harris said.
The bastards she was talking about naturally referred to the four other people.
They sneered at her but didn't respond.
That was because they were interrupted by the director.
The director had made a move for the first time since the whole plan was set in motion.
His leg muscles bulged, and he aimed his dash straight at Ming Jun.
Ming Jun narrowed his eyes and dodged his attack, while his right fist followed up with a punch.
His muscles also bulged with strength as it was directed to the director's stomach.
Unfortunately, his muscles weren't as strong as the director's.
So the attack only resulted in the director staggering back.
Jae-Hyun followed up after seeing the director's instability and swung his sword at him.
He dashed to the director's back, and a blue energy wave burst out at close distance.
The director turned his body unnaturally so that his front twisted to the back.
The sword was now aiming for his front.
But the director wasn't at all panicked, and his muscles squirmed and hardened.
The sword got stuck in his stomach, and Jae-Hyun couldn't pull it out.
Just then, Shae Harris rushed up and grabbed the sword still stuck in the director's stomach.
She used both hands to move it up from its original position while it was still stuck in the director's body.
The sword moved, and a deep wound was forming until the director interrupted her.
The director grabbed her hands with one hand and crushed them until Shae Harris's bones made a loud sound.
Shae Harris snorted and continued to try to use the sword even with her broken hands.
Mori Aoi came silently at this time and slammed a knife into the director's heart.
It struck deep inside, with blood gushing out.
The director just snorted and twisted his other hand to yank the knife away.
Mori Aoi had already retreated when Wei Zhi dashed past her and grabbed the hand that was trying to yank the knife away.
He used both hands to grab it.
His veins bulged, and his teeth were gritted.
He tore the entire arm away from the shoulder of the director.
Blood flowed continuously from the wound, but the director continued to smile.
Ming Jun grabbed a stick from a corpse.
It was a wooden pole used for practicing javelin as a sport on campus.
It had a sharpened edge at both sides.
Ming Jun used his left hand, muscles bulging, and slammed one end of the stick straight through the wound of the director.
It was obvious that he wanted to use the stick to pierce through to the other arm of the director.
But the director tossed Shae Harris away and broke the sword in his gut.
Then he broke the other end of the wooden pole.
His body was still twisted unnaturally, with the front facing his butt and the back facing his feet.
He smiled at them.
He tried to move but found that he couldn't.
It was like invisible ropes holding him down.
Yi Zheng was sweating profusely while looking at the director.
He felt that the director was a far bigger monster compared to those kids.
And he felt it was taking a lot out of him to hold him down.
Admittedly, he had been using his abilities without any psychological burden because there was no price.
But now he felt his mental strength rapidly dissipating.
He could actually feel something being taken out of him.
The others didn't misuse the opportunity Yi Zheng gave them.
They all rushed up with knives to stab the director repeatedly.
Especially his eyes, forehead, and heart.
Jae-Hyun brought out a gun from his system space and shot at the director.
And through all of this, the director never stopped laughing.
Even as he was turned into a bloody pulp by their fierce onslaught.
His eyes were bloody holes, and he was covered in wounds.
He was bleeding profusely, and the wide smile on his face made him look even more gloomy.
And then Yi Zheng couldn't hold him anymore.
Yi Zheng was panting heavily as he watched the director, who was covered in blood and holes, recover at an astonishing speed.
"Hehe," the director said.
"You can't kill me while I make a sacrifice," he said.
Jae-Hyun clenched the gun in his hand tightly, feeling distressed.
It certainly didn't look like he had just been brutally torn apart.
He looked completely fine, without any scratches.
"Then it'll just be more fun to kill you all over again," Noi Karn said.
A knife followed his words not long after, as he threw it at the director's head.
The director dodged away, but Shae Harris was already aiming a kick at the space he was dodging to.
Meanwhile, Ming Jun behind him grabbed the knife that was dodged and rushed up with it, about to stab.
Jae-Hyun also aimed from a distance and started to shoot.
His hands pulled the trigger, and his eyes were locked on the director.
He felt that they were right.
If you can't kill him the first time, then try and try again.
Anyway, he'd make sure to kill the director for sure.
The director fought back against their onslaught, but he was soon dealt with again.
He was physically the strongest person among them.
But the five kids also had outstanding physical abilities, so even if they couldn't keep up,
their combined actions ended up overwhelming the director.
Not without injuries, though.
They had many injuries of various degrees.
But they would lick the blood that reached their lips and wait for the injury to heal to an acceptable degree.
This would make them switch from active attack to defensive hit-and-run.
They continued this battle until the director stopped smiling.
He found that he still had a wound on his stomach that was dripping blood.
The skin around it squirmed, but there was no result.
It just continued to bleed.
"Have you finally felt it?" Wei Zhi said.
"I admit we're weaker than you, and that's normal," Mori Aoi said.
"But if you underestimate us just because we're inherently weaker than you, then you'll die," Ming Jun said.
"So let's fight and kill each other more and more," Shae Harris said excitedly.
"After all, we're always going to outlast any of you, no matter what, because as you said—this isn't our sacrifice," Noi Karn said, smiling.
The director frowned even more deeply.
He seemed to be contemplating their words.
He tapped his chin while the others glared at him but made no moves.
Jae-Hyun didn't understand what they were talking about.
But he did understand that they could injure the director and restrict his healing abilities.
So they must be trying to force him to let them out.
Yi Zheng just felt that his escape route should be available soon.
"You guys… are really the best sacrifices," the director said admiringly.
Then he waved his hand, and all the zombies biting on human corpses began to target the seven of them.
Jae-Hyun's companions hadn't joined in the battle against the director and focused more on clearing the zombies.
So the zombies that converged on them weren't as many compared to the number there should have been.
But they were still plenty.
"Well, I'll see you very soon… especially you, Ming Jun," the director said as he casually walked away amidst the zombie horde.
Jae-Hyun looked at his departing back, feeling frustrated.
He slashed the zombies ruthlessly, wishing it was the director he was cutting down.
Wei Zhi impatiently fought these zombies while looking at the other four.
They too were looking at the others with eager looks.
They wanted to settle the score with them as soon as possible.
But these stupid zombies kept getting in the way.
So they were even more ruthless and killed each zombie swiftly.
Yi Zheng, on the other hand, was eagerly trying to escape but kept getting entangled by zombies.
It seemed the director did something that made the zombies so sensitive to them.
Because he couldn't escape them no matter how hard he tried.
They were entangled for a while until all the zombies were cleared out.
"Let's get rid of the extra baggage," Wei Zhi spared not a second more to waste.
His eyes turned to Jae-Hyun and his companions, then to Yi Zheng.
The people involved frowned and glanced at them warily.
Suddenly, the five who proposed killing the only normal people around began to tremble.
That was because the real people in their consciousness started to fight back.
The five consciousnesses submerged in the deep black abyss sea respectively started to resist.
Just then, they saw a black cat appear in the abyss sea.
It appeared to all five of them with the same appearance.
It was just there at the surface of the sea, looking at them floating inside the water.
Then it slapped the water fiercely with one paw.
That paw was so powerful that the abyss water was suddenly like glass before their eyes.
It broke, and then they were free.
They were suddenly back in their bodies, a bit disoriented and dizzy.
The red eyes slowly retracted back into their normal eye color.
Their facial expressions became soft and confused.
Their hands went to their heads.
Then they felt it… the pain.
The pain in every part of their body due to the injuries sustained.
The other "them" had fought very recklessly, without any caution or feeling of pain.
So they had deep scratches and wounds all over their bodies.
At first, they were healing in their berserk state.
But then they suddenly changed back, and the healing process was interrupted.
They looked down at the source of the pain and found a hole in their chests where their hearts were meant to be.
It was bleeding a lot, but the smell of blood was diluted by the smell of fresh corpses around them.
And there was also a black cat with eyes deep like the abyss staring at them.
Unfortunately, they couldn't think too much about it because they felt something wrong.
The pain hit them like a truck, and they staggered to the floor.
They inexplicably remembered all the times they would smash their heads in while stuck in those time loops.
They also remembered all the various ways they had died.
The pain at the time had been numbed down by the terror they were facing.
But now they felt that fresh sense of massive pain on the borders of torture.
They couldn't bear it anymore, and their eyes rolled back.
The rise and fall of their chests also ceased.
They looked dead from all angles.
The black cat snorted and looked at the kids helplessly.
Then it walked over to Jae-Hyun, unnoticed by anyone else.
It jumped to his shoulder from the ground with an agility obviously higher than a cat should possess.
It then jumped seemingly into the air but actually landed on a blue transparent screen in front of Jae-Hyun's field of vision.
[Emergency takeover issued]
[Highest administrator override]
[Threat eliminated]
[System reconnecting to minor server]
The black cat, invisible to others, slapped the blue screen with a paw.
[System glitch detected]
[System crash]
[System is rebooting, please hold on for a while]
Then a loading bar popped up.
The black cat snorted at the blue screen and jumped back to the ground.
It passed by the bewildered Yi Zheng and patted his shadow.
Yi Zheng felt a deep chill and shivered.
Then the cat dissolved into the huge shadow made from the combined shadows of the five kids as they lay side by side.
