The chaos had finally begun to settle. Xu Fu, accompanied by Starlight and Zhenrizi, returned to the hall after letting his magical clone pursue the last fleeing intruder from the Shouhe Society.
Most of Yashida's original intruders had been eliminated; only a few remained, their armor abandoned, surrendering in defeat. The accident, however, had slowly been guided into a more manageable situation.
The Chijiao group began to converge, preparing to evacuate after assisting.
"Friends of the Chijiao group, thank you for your help," Shinpei said sincerely.
The commander of the Chijiao group nodded calmly. "We followed orders and came to support you."
Shinpei's curiosity got the better of him. "Can you tell me who you are exactly?"
The commander shook his head. "Our reasons for coming here are none of your concern."
Shinpei couldn't argue. Without the Chijiao group, more would have died—including Jane. Yet he was quietly reassured by Xu Fu's presence; he knew there was no real danger to Zhenrizi.
As the Red Jiao Group completed their mission and departed, Shinpei's gaze cooled slightly. He met a figure he could hardly believe.
"Your Excellency Xu," he said, almost involuntarily. "Aren't you still chasing that person?"
Xu Fu snorted lightly, unconcerned. "Your Excellency Zhenping, I think you may have misunderstood."
Mahei Xiu blinked, astonished.
Meanwhile, a samurai of the Shouhe Society—Donggi Lingzhi—had infiltrated the area. He had avoided the Society's secret base for a reason. A gnawing premonition had lingered in his mind for days, a skill honed over years to keep him alive in countless life-and-death crises.
But now, the dark sense of inevitability filled him. There was no escape.
"Damn it," the senior Shouhe Society member muttered, reluctance and fear in his eyes. Could this be the end?
"If I must die, then everyone dies with me."
Clenching his fists, he walked into the nearby compound, prepared to face the crisis he had created.
The senior Shouhe member knew this was no ordinary encounter. The Chijiao group had been revealed, a long-hidden and powerful faction whose abilities were sophisticated and unpredictable. Xu Fu himself had been instrumental in accelerating their development, whether intentionally or not—reverse-developing materials, X-gene inhibitors, and super-divine elixirs now in the hands of ordinary people felt like divine assistance.
"What the hell is going on?" another Shouhe warrior muttered, bewildered. Their battle had failed spectacularly, and it had drawn out far more formidable forces than anticipated.
Bits and pieces of Xu Fu's abilities and background clicked in the warrior's mind. Could the Chijiao group be under his influence? Could one man truly coordinate and develop so many extraordinary abilities?
Xu Fu, it seemed, was not just a student spoiled by academy protections. He was a master.
As the samurai of the Shouhe Society wrestled with their fear, a sound from outside the room startled them.
This had been their secret safehouse, hidden and undetected—but now the instinct that had never failed them flared in panic.
And there, standing calmly, was Xu Fu.
"Oh, I suppose you've already gathered my information," Xu Fu said, placing two bottles of Coke by the window and offering one to the samurai. "No sake in the room, so drink this."
The samurai took a deep breath, sitting slowly. "Xu Fu… we despise you. The world thought you were just a spoiled second son, protected by academy professors. We never expected… a master of your caliber."
Xu Fu's lips curled into a faint smile. "Now you understand."
