Chapter 21 - Chapter 21-Step by Step

A few days passed quietly, and yet Kael kept finding ways to appear around Eren. In the library in the corridor even outside the classroom—he was always there. At first, Eren found it extremely irritating.

One afternoon in the corridor Eren finally stopped and turned his voice sharp.

"Don't you have anything better to do? You're stuck to me everywhere."

Kael blinked, a little awkward, then gave a small laugh.

"I… I just wanted to say thank you. For helping me that day."

Eren rolled his eyes.

"You don't need to make a whole drama out of gratitude."

Kael lowered his head slightly, his lips curving into a shy smile.

"Maybe. But you don't understand— for me, it was a big deal."

Eren shoved his hands into his pockets and muttered coldly,

"Your emotional speech means nothing to me."

But Kael still walked beside him, unbothered.

"Even if you say that, I'm not going to stop. Whether you like it or not, I'll keep bothering you."

Eren shot him a deadly glare.

"Try it. You won't last long—I won't tolerate you."

But Kael just chuckled.

"Yet you're still tolerating me now… so maybe that's progress."

Just then, Yuna appeared, catching sight of the two together. He smirked mischievously.

"Well, well. What's this scene? Eren, looks like you've got yourself a new puppy that won't leave your side."

Eren's voice turned cold immediately.

"Shut up. You talk too much."

Kael's cheeks flushed, and he quickly protested.

"I'm not a puppy!"

Yuna laughed loudly.

"Shy and loyal little puppy perfect combo."

Eren gave both of them a flat stare.

"Why don't you two just leave me alone?"

But deep inside, he realized Kael's presence didn't feel as annoying as before.

When Yuna teased him again, Kael become embressed and give shy smile . For a moment, Eren's gaze turned intense as he watched him. He didn't push Kael away this time. Instead, he found himself wondering how long would Kael stay?

From childhood until now, everyone who came near Eren only did so because of his status or his looks. And when they were faced with his silence, his lack of expression, they always grew bored and left.

Because ever since childhood, people had only clung to him for his family's name or his flawless looks. They called him "perfect," but the moment they realized he showed no interest, no warmth, no emotions — they got bored. One by one, they drifted away, leaving him in alone again.

Will Kael be the same? Or… will he be the first one who doesn't let go?
