Kate and Kaid continue their walk home, angry about what just happened. Kate holds her bandage to Kaito's eye. "I told you we shouldn't have gone there!" Kate yells at Kaid. "How was I supposed to know they would react like that?!" Kaid barks back at his sister. "I don't even know what we did wrong!" Kaid continues.
Kate shakes her head. "It doesn't matter mom said no for a REASON, this was clearly it!" She yells. Kaid shakes his head, and looks at his sister with annoyance. "Why are you acting like you didn't agree to go with me?" He asks. "You didn't have to come if you didn't want to." Kate shakes her head. "Why would I have stayed home and left my two little brothers to face who-knows-what?" She yells.
"Guys." Kaito quietly says but they don't even hear him.
"You're pulling the older sibling card, oh boohoo Kate." Kaid says sarcastically, mocking his sister Kate. "Yes, I am!" Kate shouts back, surprising Kaid with her outburst. "If you idiots go somewhere, and get hurt or worse get killed I'd feel like SHIT, so excuse me Kaid for giving a damn about you!" Kate yells at Kaid with tears of frustration filling her eyes.
Kaid doesn't say anything back, feeling a bit bad. "What are we gonna tell mom?" Kaito says his eye wound still fresh. Kaid just shrugs. "We tell the truth." Kate says butting in as arrive at the village gates. Kate pushes the gate open and to their horror, Moon is standing right there, looks like she was just about to leave too.
Surprised by seeing her children she smiles. "Hello my babie-" She's taken by pure surprise when she sees Kaito's face. "My baby!" She shouts as she grabs Kaito from Kate. "What happened!?" Moon yells at them.
The three of them are silent. Moon turns to Kaito. "Kaito. SPEAK." Moon demands with motherly fury. "We left the forest and went outside." Kaito says.
Moon is already annoyed by this. "But we beat up these guys to save a town, but when we told the people our names they got mad and started attacking us." Kaito explains to Moon.
Moons eyes are typically always closed, The kids have never seen them open, but just for a second they almost caught a glimpse when Moon was in shock. "You told outside people about your last name?" She asks Kaito with a scary calmness. "No, Kaid did." He says honestly.
"Aw come on, dude," Kaid says to Kaito feeling a bit betrayed. "It's true I told them, but I didn't know they would react like that." Kaid explains.
"Mom, why did those people call us monsters?" Kate asks. "It's like when they heard our name, they feared us. Why?"
Moon sighs. "It's my fault for hiding it from you all, I should've assumed you'd eventually experience it." Moon responds. She then shakes her head. "I'll explain it to you all, but first." Moon gains a menacing aura.
Moon looks up towards the sky and says, "I have to deal with those who now know about us." Her voice has a menacing undertone.
Kaito looks worried. "Mom no!" Kaito yells but Moon takes off flying into the sky. Kaid watches above as their mother flies off. "She's pissed." He plainly says.
Kaito watched as his mother took off flying in a direction that would take her straight to the group of people she was targeting. He knew she was going to kill them, and he couldn't let that happen. He took off running after her, determined to save the people even after they wronged him. Kaito knew it was their fault that this situation had arisen, but they didn't deserve to die. He would do whatever it took to stop his mother and save their lives.
Kaito races through the forest, his legs pumping and his lungs burning. The trees seem to be getting thicker and thicker, and he's having a hard time seeing what's in front of him. Suddenly, he trips and falls, rolling over and over until he comes to a stop at the foot of a tree. He sits up and looks around, trying to get his bearings. "Can I even catch her!?" he shouts, his voice echoing through the forest. He gets up and starts running again, his feet flying over the forest floor. After 10 straight minutes of running, he finally makes it out of the forest. He races across the field and up the hill that he remembers the town being on.
"Please, please still be here!" Kaito yells. He sees the town, but he also sees Moon in the air, casting a spell. Three rings of magnificent light appear behind Moon and swirl. "Mom no!" Kaito pleads.
As Kaito pleaded with his mother not to cast her spell, she ignored him and turned her back on him. The spell was cast, and the town was engulfed in golden light. Kaito looked on in horror as he saw the town shimmering. He knew that he was responsible for what had happened, and he felt a deep sense of guilt.
Moon lands on the ground next to Kaito. "Why, would you do that?!" Kaito yells at his mother.
"Hello?" The voice of the young man Eric speaks to Kaito. Kaito looks over at him, and the town, all completely intact. "HUH?!" Kaito shouts shocked that they're all fine. Eric seems confused. "How may i help you two?" He asks them.
Moon comes in with a friendly smile. "Hello, sorry excuse me and my son we're just passing by." She peacefully says. Eric accepts this answer and he walks away.
Kaito looks at his mother surprised. "I- i thought you-" Kaito is too stunned to even speak!
Moon looks at him and then looks at the town. "You thought i was gonna kill those people?!" Moon says before bursting into laughter. "Why would I kill a town full of people!!" She continues laughing at Kaito.
Kaito isn't amused by his mother laughing at him after what she just put him through! "Relax, baby, I'm just messing with you. I just cast a little memory-erasing spell," she says, relieving Kaito. "It's useful for getting rid of, unwanted situations." She says while still laughing.
After more of Moon's laughing her and Kaito return home. Kate and Kaid were still there and they're relieved to see Moon in a better mood.
Kate steps up first. "It's good to see you're in a better mood mom." Kate starts. "But can you tell us why they reacted to us like that?"
Kaid rubs his head. "I've been dying to know!" He shouts.
Moon takes a deep breath. "As you kids know, we are called Kaya, we're a clan of mages once known for our fighting prowess and skills, But a long time ago a large scale attack happened on the empire, they lost numbers of people too broad to say." Moon says before taking a break.
She looks back up. "We were blamed for the attack and the entire name of us was tarnished, the empire imposed a kill on sight policy with the Kaya. Too ordinary folk all they know us for nowadays is that we're extremely dangerous, unpredictable, and untrustworthy. That is why the world fears us and we stay in the forest away from others." Moon explains and the kids are shocked by the revelation.
Kaid looks up to Moon. "A long time ago, dad found a guy in the village while we were training, he called us the Kaya clan and got super scared, is that why?" Kaid asks. Moon nods.
Kate raises her hand. Moon laughs. "You don't need to raise your hand Kate." She says.
"How come no one ever found the forest, other then that one guy?" Kate asks Moon.
Moon smiles. "That's because we used a blood sigil, When founding this new home, so other people when they walk into the forest without having the blood of a Kaya they're trapped in an endless maze that always puts them back at the exit, this goes for all sides. That way the only way in is through one of us!" Moon happily explains.
"That still doesn't answer how that one guy got in." Kaid says. "Your father brung the man in himself for one of his sadistic games." Moon says almost snarling. Kaid shakes his head, but then remembers that the man had brung up ruins. "Dad must've left something about something bringing it up laying around and gave the man a way in." Kaid concludes.
Moon nods. "He wanted to teach you and Kaito to kill without reason, i'm glad you two didn't do it." Moon explains.
Kaito has been unusually quiet. When asked what's wrong, he sadly says "it's not fair that we were blamed for things we didn't do, and now we have to hide away." He says.
Moon smiles understanding where he's coming from. "I get it, But the people who control the world don't care about fair, they make the rules." Moon explains.
Kaito then smiles with a renewed vigor. "I don't care if they're the ones who make the rules, if that's the case i'll just take the whole world!" Kaito says and Kaid laughs. "You idiot that's impossible." Kaid says as he gives him a nuggie. Kaito smiles. "Watch me!" Kaito Nakaya challenges the world!
