Chapter 31 - Chapter 31

|Emora Brahms — Rogue Trader and Shipmistress of the Mourningstar|

I hate how the situation got even worse than I thought it was. I accept Grendyl's demand because I owe him a great deal for his assistance in the past. Now… he owes me for all of this trouble that is happening in the Moebian Domain.

"Mistress."

I turn around and see my trusty Commodore, Alice Hallowette, walk toward me. She is the best infiltrator and treasure hunter I've had under my wing, but I've rarely used her talent lately because of all the mess Grendyl brings with him. That bastard.

"What is it, Alice?"

"The Salamanders are here, ma'am. They are requesting to go on board the Mourningstar."

"What? Why are they required to go here? Why don't they go to the planet's surface?"

"They do not say what they want, ma'am. They only say that they want to go on board the Mourningstar."

"Grox shit. Fine! Let's greet them."

Adeptus Astartes, Space Marines, or the Angels of Death. They are the Demigods who defend the galaxy. I owe them quite a lot, but some of them have such high pride that they never make a request and always make a demand.

I've encountered a few Astartes chapters, and there are only two outcomes. The first one is them demanding everything from us, and the second one is them having the decency to ask for something. Sadly, even when they have the decency to request something, they will not accept rejection for an answer.

So, the only thing I can do is to walk to the hangar and wait for them to arrive.

It does not take long before the Salamanders arrive inside my ship. Ah, they are sending the Primaris Marines, huh? Hmmm… I heard about them, but this is the first time I've seen them this close. They are truly bigger than regular Space Marines.

However, I can see Enginseer Kayex-8 look at them in distaste. I understand his hatred. What Archmagos Cawl has done is a borderline Heretek according to the Mechanicus teaching, or even already reaching a Heretek realm.

The only reason they are accepted among the ranks is because of the approval of the Lord Regent of the Imperium.

I step forward and greet them.

"Greetings and welcome to the Mourningstar. My name is Emora Brahms, Rouge Trader of the Brahms House."

Two of them walk forward, and by the look of their attire, they are the captain of the company.

"I am Mulcebar, Captain of the Salamanders 5th Company."

"I am Nehr Ur'Venn, Captain of the Salamanders 6th Company."

I nod and say.

"Once again, welcome to my ship, Captains. What can we do for you?"

Mulcebar is the one answering my question.

"We require twelve transport units from Mourningstars."

Transport unit, huh? We still have fifty more in the hangar. The demand is not something outrageous.

"Of course. We shall prepare the units, Captain. Can I ask the reason for the transports?"

"We require them to transport all of the weaponry and supplies we have in our ships. We bring all heavy weaponry here, and all of our transport ships will be busy carrying the heavier equipment and weaponry. We are directly given the command from Terra to make sure Atoma Prime is free from rebellion and fortify it to the best of our ability before the arrival of the rest of the reinforcement."

Ah, I remember the rest of the reinforcement. Katanda Stalwart will arrive at Atoma Prime, and according to the news, they are bringing a lot of people here. Grendyl is already recalling all the Regiments that can be recalled from the battlefield, and now, combined with Katanda Stalwart, the Moebian Domain gets even more heated.

A heated situation is a bad situation for a Rogue Trader. I prefer plundering and trading to an all-out war because sooner or later, I will be given a mission to act as a logistic transport between frontlines.

I will be doing all of these without any compensation. My Rogue Trader nature screams at me not to do it. Sadly, the situation requires me to stay here.

"We shall prepare the units at once. Is there anything else?"

"Yes. How is the Mourningstar, Rogue Trader Brahms?"

Shit. I hate that kind of question. It looks like it is sooner than I thought. Let's hope that it is just my paranoia.

"Mourningstar is ready for action, Captain. Is there something you need?"

"Yes. We require the Mourningstar to move from one planet to another around the Moebian Domain to gather all the troops and resources it can carry."

Grox shit! I hate staying in this place! When I meet you once again, I will kill you, Grendyl. That bastard put me into this situation, and now I need to work without any compensation.

"Of course. We are more than happy to do so."

|Kael — Beacon of Humanity|

I take a deep breath and prepare to meet the face of the Warhammer 40k universe. They are not the Blueberry Scout chapter, but rather the Huggy Bois chapter. Even then, as Space Marines, they are still the face of the entire Warhammer 40k universe.

I look around and see that Sanctuary has undergone significant changes. It has expanded so much that we need to destroy and scrap down a sector of Tertium to add to the Sanctuary.

Rannick and I came to an agreement that tearing apart Tertium is better than fortifying it. For one, it is faster to do so with my ability. The [Primordial Earth] ability allows me to tear down all the walls with ease, and the Mechanicus recycle them to rebuild around the Sanctuary.

Macrotek Taldius is someone I talk to the most lately. He is very knowledgeable regarding the construction of the entire Tertium. It turns out that the main Mechanicus Shrine on Pavane contains the blueprint for Tertium, and Taldius has that blueprint stored in his brain.

That means we can tear down the old hive with ease, ensuring the population does not die by not accidentally destroying the filtration unit that makes sure part of the hive can still have clean air.

Speaking of filtration units, Hadron shows me one, and my [Tinker–Ecology] and [Tinker–Fortification] powers enhance its functionality, making it more effective and ensuring it is tougher and cannot be sabotaged.

It is 41% better than the previous model, and Hadron already saved the STC in the massive vault in the deepest part of the Sanctuary.

I also created a massive Bio-Farm that contains all food-producing plants to feed the people of the Sanctuary. My [Tinker–Bio(I)] comes in clutch because I can upgrade the plants to ensure they produce a massive number of fruits and vegetables for people to enjoy.

It cannot be compared to an Agri World output, but it can at least feed 25 million people without a problem, and I can still expand the Bio-Farm further. To feed the people, I need to create a new kind of tree. You would not believe how the new Apple Tree looks in that Bio-Farm.

I snap from my thoughts when I hear the thundering sounds of dozens of carrier ships entering the atmosphere. The majority of the carriers are going to the other side of the fortress, while one of them lands not too far away from us.

Rannick and Taldius stand next to me as we watch the Thunderhawk's door open up. I watch as a group of genetically enchanted humans walk out of the vessel.

By their height, I know they are Primaris Marines, not Firstborn Marines. They are almost three meters tall. That is the biggest indication of them being Primaris Marines. By the color of their armor and the symbol they proudly show, they are the Salamanders.

Two of the space marines walk closer to me while the others stop. They take off their helmets, and I can see their charcoal black skin and their blazing red eyes looking at me. When their eyes land on me, they immediately kneel, and the others follow suit.

"Captain Nehr Ur'Venn of the Salamander 6th Company, reporting for duty!"

"Captain Mulcebar of the Salamander 5th Company, reporting for duty!"

And as one, the others also raise their heads and look at me.

"COMMAND US!"
