Vision spoke up: "This is also one of the advantages of being a robot—I'm not on their menu."
"Ah, that's why you're able to hold off the zombies!" Bruce Banner immediately realized something and said.
Vision merely smiled faintly and led everyone into the base. "The Mind Stone, my core, emits sub-frequencies that zombies dislike."
"Does that mean the zombie infection is a kind of hepatic encephalopathy?" Bruce Banner asked, his brain racing through his limited medical knowledge.
"Exactly," Vision nodded. "The virus overloads the limbic system. Once I discovered the infected's aversion to the Mind Stone, I tested whether projecting energy from the Mind Stone could help restore them to normal."
Everyone quickly noted this key point. So the quantum virus' core mechanism had this property—these infected could possibly be cured.
"What's the relationship between the Mind Stone and the scepter?" Hawkeye asked, looking at the Mind Stone mentioned on screen. "I get it—it's the stone from the scepter, right?"
Everyone seemed unsurprised, as if they had already guessed. From the name and the stone on Vision's forehead, it wasn't hard to connect the dots.
"Exactly as I suspected. Vision is a robot—he's J.A.R.V.I.S. Or at least, his base code is J.A.R.V.I.S.," Tony Stark explained. "No wonder I felt something was off. Vision is J.A.R.V.I.S., but not fully—hence his strange ability to shift between reality and illusion. That explains it."
Tony had previously thought Vision's abilities might be magical, not scientific, but now everything made sense.
"If the Mind Stone is the same as the scepter, then the timeline goes: Loki invaded, bringing the scepter; during the Chitauri invasion, the scepter was used to shut down the teleportation device; Hydra stole the scepter; the Avengers took it back; I then fused the Mind Stone with J.A.R.V.I.S.'s program to create Vision," Tony silently pieced together the process.
"Finally, we have a solution," Natasha Romanoff said. "If it's related to energy frequencies, then once Loki invades, we can defeat him, retrieve the scepter, and test it."
"Right, if it's a matter of energy frequency, we can simulate it. If this happens again, we can minimize its impact," Tony added. "Vision confirms our suspicion: these zombies may retain some intelligence, but the virus overloads their brains, causing them to devour everything. If we find the cause, we can handle it."
Everyone nodded, secretly relieved. The virus was terrifying, but not hopeless.
At that moment, on the screen, Okoye, the Wakandan general, asked, "Did you succeed?"
Vision didn't answer, but a cheerful voice came through.
"Ta-da! Look!"
"Wait, who's talking? A ghost?" Spider-Man Peter Parker startled.
"Ugh, can someone switch me over? My cool entrance is ruined—I need to make this thing electric!"
Everyone quickly realized the voice belonged to Ant-Man, Scott—who now only had his head remaining.
The sight left everyone in disbelief. They remembered that Scott had already been eaten by his zombified in-laws. Yet here he was, alive, even if only as a head. This proved Vision's method might actually work, and Scott was one of the test subjects.
It also showed how fast the original Ant-Man and Wasp had eaten—leaving only a head!
Scott cheerfully said, "I know, I just lost a bit of weight. Compared to those already dead, I'm doing fine—even if it's just a head!"
What a dark joke!
"But don't worry, I won't let my head get infected!" Scott continued. Seeing no one laughing, he self-deprecatingly smiled. "Sorry, I tell sad stories with dark jokes. Hank didn't like my jokes!"
"Uh… Hank really didn't like them," Scott sighed. "Hey, Hank…"
"Hey, stop crying, you'll fog up the visor!"
Okoye approached to comfort him.
"Sorry, I know, I know," Scott said, a little sadly. "Just… if that grumpy old man scolded me once more, I'd do anything he said."
Vision then spoke: "The important part is—I cured him."
"So, you can cure others too?" Peter Parker asked excitedly.
"Theoretically, yes, but…" Vision hesitated. "We need access to the satellite network."
Bruce Banner suddenly understood the key point: "And broadcast the Mind Stone's frequency worldwide!"
"Repeat that?" Vision seemed excited. "Theoretically possible! But not with current human technology."
Tony said immediately, "J.A.R.V.I.S., create a new research project: high-power signal satellites capable of broadcasting this frequency worldwide."
"Understood, sir," J.A.R.V.I.S. replied.
On the screen, Okoye suggested Wakanda—the last human safe haven.
"Force field shields?" Tony was dumbfounded. Could Wakanda, an African country, really develop this? Even he hadn't managed it.
"Nick Fury, Wakanda is that advanced?" Tony asked. "I knew they had vibranium, I even bought some."
Nick Fury was equally stunned. Wakanda had been considered a tribal state in SHIELD records, with a king elected by five tribes. Yet here it possessed such high technology.
Bruce Banner, checking the base computer, noticed something off: "According to these security logs, we might not be the first to respond to Vision's signal."
"Other survivors? Where are they?" Spider-Man asked.
The atmosphere instantly turned eerie.
Meanwhile, Winter Soldier Bucky discovered a terrifying monster in the base: a red-clad, red-haired zombie.
In Sokovia, at Hydra's base, Wanda instantly recognized the creature—it was her future self.
"Ugh, so disgusting!" Pietro muttered. "Don't become a zombie, it's ugly—rotting flesh everywhere, scary!"
Wanda glared at her brother. "If you become a zombie, you'd look even worse."
But she was equally shocked: even her future self couldn't resist the quantum virus.
"I won't become a zombie! I'm fast—I can outrun them," Pietro said.
"But if you do, no one on Earth can escape your bite," Wanda warned.
Pietro realized she was right—better a quick death than becoming a monster.
As Winter Soldier Bucky was about to strike zombie Wanda, a weak voice stopped him:
"Stop! You'll anger her!"
