Chapter 139 - Chapter 139: Too Many Women, Too Much Trouble

Seeing Gwen's name on the screen, Maguire answered the call right away.

On the other end, Gwen's almost hysterical voice exploded out:

"Why are you only picking up now? Do you have any idea how worried I was? I thought you—I thought you… wuu… wuu…"

At that point, Gwen completely lost control of her emotions and broke down, sobbing.

Maguire's voice came through, calm as ever.

"You thought I was stuck in space forever and never coming back, didn't you? Idiot. I was literally in outer space—how was I supposed to get a signal, huh? Are you dumb?"

Hearing that, Gwen finally burst into teary laughter.

"Haha… I was just too worried. I was so scared I even forgot something that obvious…"

Maguire went on,

"Silly girl. What could possibly happen to me? Even if I wanted to go see God, that old man probably wouldn't dare meet me."

Gwen sighed on the other end, still a bit choked up.

"Fine… as long as you're okay. I was really, really scared you'd leave me…"

Maguire smiled faintly.

"No one's ever going to separate us."

After talking for a while longer, they finally hung up.

The moment the call ended, Maguire's phone started ringing again.

This time, the caller ID showed Susan.

He couldn't help feeling a bit puzzled, but still picked up her call.

"Why are you only answering now? What is wrong with you? Do you have any idea how worried I was?" Susan's excited voice rushed out immediately.

Maguire replied, totally deadpan,

"I went to bed late last night, so I just woke up. What's wrong? What are you so worried about?"

On the other end, Susan almost shouted,

"You never told me your address, I don't even know what neighborhood you're in!

"And you're sleeping? Aliens are literally attacking New York and you're at home taking a nap? I thought you'd already been taken by aliens!"

Maguire chuckled.

"Oh? And why exactly are you so worried about me? What's our relationship again?"

"You said I was your girlfriend! What, now you're just going to use me up and pretend you don't know me? I can't believe you're that kind of guy—my eyes must've been blind, wuuu…"

Seeing Susan about to break out the ultimate feminine combo—cry, yell, and threaten—Maguire rushed to patch things up.

"Of course we're together! My bad, okay? Are you alright? You didn't get hurt, did you?"

"I'm fine. It's all thanks to Hellblood Demon this time, haha! Let me tell you, from now on I'm someone who's fought side by side with Hellblood Demon!"

Right now Susan was like a completely devoted little fangirl.

Maguire spoke to her in a doting tone,

"Alright, alright, I get it. You're the coolest one, okay? As an apology—"

On the other end, Susan huffed, pretending to be reluctant.

"Since you sound so sincere, I guess I'll give you this chance…

"Tonight you're treating me to dinner!"

Meanwhile, at S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters aboard the Helicarrier…

In the office, only the Avengers and Thor were still present.

It seemed Nick Fury was trying to persuade Thor to officially join the Avengers.

After all, Thor really trusted Maguire.

After politely turning Fury down, Thor left the room.

Once Thor was gone, Captain America Steve came back.

By then, he'd already learned from Natasha and the others everything that had happened in New York.

This battle had once again completely shattered everyone's understanding of Maguire's power.

Time-space travel—something that should've existed only in science fiction—had just happened right in front of their eyes.

And that giant monster the military and everyone else were utterly helpless against…

In front of Maguire, it had been beaten and humiliated like a ragdoll.

It wasn't just Maguire, either.

In this battle, Garfield, Holland and Harry had also shown terrifying strength.

The three of them were honestly at a level you could call godlike.

News of this entire war had spread across the United States almost immediately.

Steve looked over at Nick Fury and said,

"I think this battle proved that Hellblood Demon isn't our enemy."

Hearing that, the rest of the Avengers couldn't help nodding.

It was true: without Maguire and the Spider Alliance, whether the Avengers and that other masked hero alone could've gotten through this crisis was a big question mark.

Especially that giant monster at the end—its power was flat-out absurd.

Only Iron Man stood off to the side, lost in thought.

Nick Fury finally said,

"Since it's over, everyone should head back."

Iron Man returned to Stark Tower.

No sooner had he stepped into his office than a familiar, graceful figure appeared in front of him—

Pepper Potts, who had been waiting there this whole time.

The moment she saw him, Pepper flew into his arms like a swallow returning to its nest.

Tony was still a bit dazed, not even reacting at first.

A second later, he suddenly remembered the last message he'd left for Jarvis.

He wrapped his arms tightly around Pepper.

After a brush with death, there was nothing better to do than something meaningful.

Three minutes later…

Pepper glanced at Tony lying beside her and said,

"So… that Anti-Hellblood armor of yours probably isn't worth developing anymore, huh?"

Tony let out a helpless sigh.

"When someone can actually pull off time-space travel, something that was purely theoretical before, what's the point of an anti-Hellblood suit?

"Anyway, I think Hellblood Demon's a hero. There shouldn't be any danger."

He smiled faintly.

"But that's not necessarily how everyone's going to see it."

Pepper looked puzzled.

Tony pointed upward.

At that moment, Maguire was lying on his bed at home,

thinking hard about how he should spend all his freshly earned Bully Points.
